I bought my P-47N specialist, now the plane is unplayable.

"Kill me wings" do help note that a plane has a larger potential. Not saying they're a good thing, but they're useful.

Preferably, I want in-match plane stat checks back, that way you can check the stat card of an enemy plane and if you know your stuff, note what kind of build it appears to have. But they removed it with 2.0.2 and it's never come back...

Warships has had it since day one and continues to have it to this day.

Remember, remember the 14th of... June, the day of patch 2.05.  Some say it's great end-game content, some say it's horrible, but history will always recall which it actually was.

Spoiler

I  can see it showing in the team screen when viewing pilots and planes, but in battle it sure sticks out like a 2 dollar lady of the eve.

^^^ This, so much this.

For all the pilot information they have removed, if I had to pick one thing I wanted back, this would be it.

Ah, so torn about the oldschool, in-game comparison tool. I made good use of it - and I’d hazard to say it made the game more new-player friendly... but it was a different world of <5v5 duels. I miss it, but it could make for some information overload.

With a grain on salt & a heaping of hesitation, I don’t think I’d want it back in the game we have now.

I like the approach I have to take now; more room to surprise & be surprised, and a satisfaction in learning the matchups. Is someone turning/climbing/keeping up with you? Well, that’s your number one threat. Fly accordingly. Specialist? Approach with caution, but if you can catch them outside  of their preferred engagements, they’re often a little more fragile.

I feel that not having the plane info explicitly communicated encourages more in the way of bolder play: see an opportunity, go for it before the window closes. Trust your gut, educate your gut through experience. If you can instantly see how you measure up, I think it might contribute to a meta that skews too heavily to the old “climb and circle” meta, where people will be encouraged to hover up high and only take engagements when the stat bars promise victory. Just a more cautious style, that I think might not mesh with the current tempo of the game.  I thnk it really suited the old low plane count, duel-heavy game... but there is so much target switching required now & the pace is faster.

There’s no right answer to this! I just like pontificating on how levels of UI change how we approach the game :p Slow work day means a long post.
