Poll: Would you be for WG making sure that all specialist missions correspond exactly with both what the class is designed to do and what the individual line is capable of doing(not making Yak 9s and 9Us have to go after ground targets if they do at the moment, (11 members have cast votes)

Would you be for WG making sure that all specialist missions correspond exactly with both what the class is designed to do and what the individual line(even perhaps individual planes, if it isn't too much) is(are) capable of doing?

I'd beg to differ. I was doing just that last night with both the RB and the B-32.

I also regularly have all of my sights bug out and don't have any so I'm used to blind bombing while in turret mode because what's the point of switching to another mode when I have no target reticule and have all my flight surfaces keybound so I don't need a joystick or mouse to fly. I realize there was a nerf, but either my builds are somehow magically keeping me from being completely hosed by it or I guess I've got the fast twitch on dropping the bombs exactly perfect. Either way, I'm still going to disagree. The gunner nerf has been a bigger deal than the bomb nerf as far as I'm concerned and even that hasn't stopped me.. just slowed down my attrition rate against light fighters and such.

This is, again, why I caveated the entire thing I'd said with "YMMV" because it does. Your experience is different than mine and that's alright.. but I'm not going to be told you "can't" bomb that low  (as I was by someone else)  when provably you can. To be honest while I've experimented wwith the style even before the nerf I never quite liked it because it just felt wrong anyway, but its still workable now.

I get it, it's not as OP as it was.. that doesn't mean its unworkable or that you can't single pass flip a cap still using that method, it's just no longer as easy or high of a reward vs. risk.

Stop acting like I said "the nerf was to make the bombs not work at super low altitude".

It's an idiotic straw man. Rather than answer my argument, you set up a straw man and defeat it easily and claim that you've defeated my argument, which is a total lie.

The nerf was to low-altitude speed.(see below)

from the notes for Update 2.0.6

Bombers’ altitude

  • The speed of all classic bombers was reduced for heights below their optimal altitude. This makes their interception at low altitudes easier.
  •
  • Bombers with the ability to launch offensives, the A-26B and Pe-2 in particular, will still be able to fly at low altitude, maintaining high speed (for their type) and maneuverability characteristics. In this case, the altitude of such bombers is now less than that of classic models.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

Sometimes I play "bomber wars" to take out enemy bombers especially human controlled bombers. Other than severely damaged planes my bombers can take out enemy bombers pretty well.  My reasoning on this is if I can keep the enemy bomber respawning time after time, I am limiting his or her effectiveness.. Yes, I am not dropping bombs and in turn, limiting my effectiveness, but I am denying the enemy team a chance to take easy captured sectors. This is very situational based for me, I don't do this every game.

It's best not to try that against a human-controlled top-tier bomber when you are in a lower-tier bomber, however.

Recently, I had an enemy player-controlled Do 17 Z try to take me on in my Ju-88a with his front guns. Unfortunately for him, however, he was both behind and below me, and coincidentally, in the field of fire of my Ju-88a's gondola gun, which when fully-upgraded is the best gun on that bomber.

We slugged it out, and though he did some damage to me(not much more than a pittance, really), my much higher DPS(56 v his 40) racked up the damage quickly, forcing him to break off the engagement.

The moral of the story? For goodness' sakes, DON'T GO TRYING TO HUNT A TOP-TIER BOMBER IN A BOMBER A TIER LOWER!

Now you're just making stuff up.  First, the B-32 isn't ever going to go 800kph, even straight down.  Second, the RBs low-level speed was nerfed so that you can't , even at full boost with a specialist spec, make 800kph at 200m.  The gun nerfs are such that 800m is really the effective range of the RBs rear gun.  Outside that, you can tail ride for days in everything except a Yak-15.  1200m, even with a great gunner and specialist?  You might get some love taps.  But not the heavy fighter killing power from before the nerf.

Not one single person is saying you can't low level bomb any more. What we are saying is that a specialist RB-17 doesn't own the maps like it used to.  That's it.

No.. that's not what was said, nor did I say I was doing 800kph in the B-32.

Good try though. You're just going to go on my block list though. I don't argue with people.

Opinions are like certain body parts. Everyone has them and most of the time they stink.

Well, it's easier not to admit you were wrong, and pretend you're the victim.

Anyone here can read exactly what has been written.  If you don't want to have an argument,  my suggestion is to not misrepresent what people say, or pretend stuff wasn't said when anyone can read what was written.

Go back and read again what you're replying to, then figure out how to be a little more humble.

The really great thing is the BV P.203 is a very fast, very powerful, bomber killer.  I'm glad I have one, because I can knock down a B-32 or an RB-17 in one gun overheat cycle.

See you in the skies.
