Hmm, for best plane statistically speaking, the P-38F.

The P-38F is a borderline OP plane in the hands of a good pilot, thanks to the incredible engines and energy retention a well-played P-38F is virtually unstoppable, only challenged by the Me 209 V4 and the Lightnings own misplays (which still require the enemy to capitalize on.) It effectively forces planes into a punish game, and the Lightning can perform maneuvers that are pretty much unpunishable anyways meaning the opposing plane stands zero chance without help.

For my favorite plane however, it's a toss-up between the IL-10M and JL-1A-37.

I quite like my Chinese planes and both of these are unique aircraft in how they play. The IL-10M is incredibly agile for a GA and can perform some pretty incredible maneuvers, pair that with superb acceleration (for a GA) and quad NR-23's for a very slow, low-altitude MRF. It's my most played plane by far with 6 air marks (2000 enemy aircraft kills) and 7 ground marks (10000 ground target kills) and quite literally my signature plane.

The JL-1A-37 can be summarized as a stock MiG-9 with a 1.5s turn time increase. It's my second most played aircraft and for good reason, it flies like a MiG-9/15, my favorite style of LF personally. The bad maneuverability can be awkward to work with but unless I'm fighting tier 9's I usually do quite well, it just sorta... clicks with me, like the IL-10M.

I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*

CHINA NUMBAH WAN

I even made a custom skin for my IL-10M!

Ooh interesting, never even looked at that thing.

But I'm really quite enjoying MiG-9 & I actually have gone back to the stock airframe because I get better hits with the 37mm on that airframe.

I never managed to get the P-38s to work as well as they seemed capable of, got to watch HoujuuNue ripping it up in a couple of battles over the weekend though, super impressive.

Another plane that was noted as being too strong and got a little nerf was the Beaufighter. They still didn't remove the option to mount wing guns, rockets, bombs, and the Boulton Paul Defiant turret all at once, last I checked, though.(it most certainly could not do that IRL.)

When did it get a nerf? I was kinda thinking of trying it out in GA mode again since recent patch reduced the drag of the ordinance.

Historically it was Turret + 2*20mm because of the weight of the turret or no turret + bombs or rockets or wing machineguns.

I've been flying no turret, no ground ordnance to maximise the anti-air ability.

Ki-84 Hayate, as I've mentioned a few times. It's not necessarily the best (wink, wink, Master_Cylinder), but it fits my style. I have to add the Ki-102, which has few of the faults that keep me away from most heavy fighters. I just bought the P-39N, which, after two battles, already looks very promising.

I like way too many planes but I'd say in order...

1. He-111 bomber - I love how the bombs drop in groups the reload speed, the accuracy.

2. MiG-3 - Dont know why but I've always just like this plane, fairly fast and good machine guns in my opinion.

3. Both P-39's good all rounders, also here the Ki-88 its like a Japanese P-39

4. Ki-61 very under rated plane for it tier not many people give it a second thought but its deadly.

5. Do-335 fast awesome range on guns, has bombs love it... but I dont play tier 8 much so its down the list.

6. Boomerang - Good fun durable and decent weapons load out. Specialized mine has good maneuverability.

I love my little SPAD S.510 :child: I just love doing the looping Ballet of Biplanes  ;D

I'm a bit of a noob and haven't even flown all the planes I own.  My succession of loves when it comes to mid-Tier planes was I-17, MiG-3 and maybe now I-220.  I-220 just seems to do everything fairly well, and climbs so fast. I even spent gold on the camo and emblems for it.

I'll be a little different than most ...

My hands-down all-time favorite plane is my lowly Tier 2 Arado (Ar-68).  It has been my most flown plane in both 1.X and 2.0.

While my initial year in 1.x was spent climbing the tiers, after I had a reasonable stable of aircraft in all tiers, I started working on the missions to get tokens for hanger slots.

Where possible, I would use the Arado in the low tier missions but the best token farming I did in 1.x was the Ace award as well as the Gorovets award.  Usually got both those every day with the Arado.  The Ace (5 kills) would give a single token but Gorovets (9 kills) would give 3.  If you got 9 kills on your first mission, you got 4 tokens.  I did that quite often.

Depending on the number of players online, team size would be either 10 or 15.  In a team of 10, my ultimate goal was to get all 10 enemy kills.  Did that twice.

In 2.0, I always start  my flying in the Arado.  If I don't win, it's going to be a bad night....

To avoid a seal-clubbing reputation, I only fly it till I get 1 victory (usually the first flight) and occasionally to complete missions.

I hold the record for the most aerial kills in both 1.x (10) and 2.0 (37) in the Arado.  It fits my flying style well - very balanced plane with good speed, maneuverability and a strong gun.

Favourite plane? Doesn't exist - since having a kid I play less than few months ago, but still need variability. Favourite planes, though?

Me-262, because it challenges me every time I play it, but it's rewarding when played well

Ta-152, because the plane is so mean I worry they will nerft it every time I play it

P-51D, because the plane is actually kinda rubbish, but its the most beautiful plane in the game... in the world... in this universe. period

Me 329, because its the first true multirole I have played (well, Fw 189 in pre-2.0), and I simply love dropping bombs and going to shoot spits. Had a lucky shot-down of Captains RB-17 ones or twice. Will tell my grand kids about that one one day.

Ar-65, because after getting my butt kicked on T8, I can make up for my small junk seal clubbing at T1 in this specialized beast...or more frequently go to fight another wishful sealclubbers with small ***...

Me209, because of all the planes I sometimes play it has the most normal play style, while looking like German, purpose build machine (unlike Japanese planes which all look like if a sex toy humped a Cuban cigar and then had a nightmare)

also, Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo off WG, stop censoring my swear words. Half of your Japanese planes looks like Hentai probs anyway.

Low tier flyer representing!!!! :playing:

In general order of my favorites in descending order.

Curtis XP-31:  Don't know why but this plane just seems to sing for me.

Mitsubishi AM5:  Almost a Zero (ok not quite).  Really good maneuverability with decent firepower.

Nakajima Type 91:  Possibly the most maneuverable plane in the game.  You can't kill what you can't bring your guns on to and this plane excels at being elsewhere when the bullets arrive but easy to keep her guns on target.

Focke Wulf FW 159:  I just do well with this aircraft and the punch of her 20mm hub mounted cannon is welcome foreshadowing the arrangement of the Bf 109 B.

Sheversky P-35:  Tough airplane with good boost.  Can take a punch and deal one out as well at her tier.

Grumman F2F:  Just a nice all around plane that I seem to have a good deal of luck with.

Polikarpov I-16 (early):  One of my favorite planes to fly.  Really nice firepower when fully outfitted and a joy to fly.

Polikarpov I-5:  Four 30 caliber machine guns set the I-15 apart from her T-1 stablemates.  The underwing rockets give her a bit of punch in the ground attach role as well:

Kawasaki Ki-10:  Nice maneuverable fighter

Boeing P-12:  My first plane in WOWP's and one of the most effective.  Manuevable and tough are the hallmarks of this plane.

Boeing P-26:  The Peashooter is just fun to fly.  One of the earliest monoplanes, she's surprisingly maneuverable and makes an elusive target.

Polikarpov - I-15:  The I-5 on steroids.  She comes up against T3 aircraft which makes her less successful than the I-5 but still a solid performer.

Arado AR-65:  Just a good all around plane.

Bristol Type 133:  Kind of big but fights well and can take a punch.

Nakajima A4N:  Nifty little bi-plane that can really turn circles around the competition.

Arado AR-68:  Outgrowth of the AR-65, just a solid peformer.

Focke Wulf FW-56:  Nifty little plane which fights better than her statistics might indicate.

Blackburn Skua:  The NBB (Nice Big Bomb) is a nice touch and for a two seater she can keep up with the other fighters of her tier.

Curtis Model 81A-1:  Really fun to fly.  A P-40 at Tier IV she can out dance and out fight most the other planes of her tier, but with only two 50 cal machine guns, it takes her a while to chew through her targets.

Curtis Hawk 75M:  Nice little progenitor to the P-36, carries a lot of firepower for her tier.

Bristol Bulldog:  All around decent plane for her tier.

Kochyeirgin-Yatsenko Di-6i:  Tough.  The Di-6i can fight and turn with her contemporaries and she's tough enough to be forgiving to her pilot.

I have other planes I like.  The P-36, P-40's are high performance as is the Spitfire.  The Russian T-5's like the Mig-3 are fast and maneuverable but often seriously under armed and the ME-109 line has promise as well.  Heavy fighters are the bane of my existence but I like bombers, just not enough for them to make this list.

For mine, I almost don't know what my favorite plane that I've played so far is. I mean, most of them have just been, "eh, not bad, but not good either".

I think, however, that my favorite at the moment has to be the Do 217 M. It just WORKS, I don't know. It's fun, it does its job quite well, and it's never boring.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

The P-40 Warhawk. I think it's the perfect balance of speed, mobility, and firepower, making it an extremely versatile and comfortable plane to fly (made only more so by a full set of max calibrated equipment). It's also an iconic American plane and it has a really good looking polished aluminum camouflage.

flew mine just today, for the first time in 4-5 months

After another Flying Legend in it I feel I should add the La-5 as possible favourite rather than I-220.

I-220 has that bit more flexibility with extra speed & altitude but a tier lower the La-5 really is quite thoroughly magnificent.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.
