So, back in the day in 1.X, I grinded the F2G two times to get the two planes attached to it in the tech tree.

What a PIA, the F2G was like totally inept at anything.  I just stuck with it and kept playing until I got the F-94D and F-6U.

Nowadays, I hop into my non-specialized F2G and it's a blast.  I play full ordnance because that's pretty much what I will have when I specialize it.

But this thing is a BEAST even unspecialized.  It might not carry the battle, but it can really contribute.  In 1.9, it was more of an afterthought.  Just a plane to shoot down when you wanted to.  Now, it kicks [self edited].

Maybe it's because there is no more pressure on my part?  I finished the line up to T10 probably 2 years ago.  Maybe, they stealth-buffed this thing.  Dunno, but what was once a drag is now pretty fun.

I tend to keep planes and not sell them and I am glad I held onto this one.

[Edit] OK, maybe I spoke too soon,  Just got schooled by a bunch of bots.

F2G is a solid plane, and that 1600lber is fun...

I admit, I rushed through mine straight to the F-94, ignoring many possible upgrades in the process...

There was a time the F2G was the OP plane at it's tier.  Those who had one, pwned and those who didn't, loathed.

Dearest of Boobie,

you rarely shine when you're serious

stick to what you excel at

yes the plane was bad, now good and could be...

I dunno... better, worse, buffed, nerfed, sanitized, aerated or polished on a bishop buffer...

make your hallmark and let others try and keep up

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

I struggle with this monster, and not just the controls. It's getting to the point where I have to be forcibly strapped in. What crew skills and equipment did anyone who made it through to the F6U Pirate and F-94D Starfire find useful?

P.S. If you see me out there in your sights, please remember it's under duress.

I’ve gone with Sights, LWF, and the High-Speed Gas Turbine. Skills are MM 1&2, with firefighting as a placeholder. Take Engine Cooling as your consumable!

Boost is for getting out of situations/catching people caught out alone - this is not a “first in” plane. I went LWF for comfort - but your turning radius is already good for your ideal range band - use that 720 meter cannon range! Crit from a distance, find furballs to poke in on from the outside.

Long range guns, good speed, decent turn. These are your three tools.

Hello, I saw you in battle in your P-38J(I think it was) when I was in my Do 217 M. I almost shot you down, but my gunner decided he was too tired to do anymore shooting and you killed me.

Although you very nearly didn't get me.

Good job.

Thanks, Lego - going up to get you was a bad idea, but I got lucky! Your turret chewed me up somethin’ fierce.

What the heck is wrong with you, Bobby? Well, at least we now know you aren't Flay, he's nicer than that and would respond in a more classy way.

Go somewhere else.

Top tip: watch out for the gondola guns on BOTH the Ju-88a and the Do 217 M. They are quite a doozy and some of the strongest defenses on both aircraft, and on the former, IS the best defense on that aircraft.

Yeah, need to learn the turret coverage better, especially now that I’m flying Bf-109 f’s. How’s the specialist grind going? Making occasional attempts at the Do 217 M & the turrets kills are proving really difficult. Considering dropping defensive fire from my 5-point gunner and going straight DPS skills. Always *almost* killing a target... a theme with most tailgunners, I’m noticing. The question is: the two 2-pt dps skills & resilience, or dps  + extended range?

Personally, for a 5 skill point gunner I would go Armorer and Critical.  Use lots of armor to protect the gunner, especially in the B-17s and B-32.  I suppose they tend to get wounded more often because of the sheer number of gunners, but I don't know for sure.

Funny thing is this thread was started by Bobby & is about his love/hate relationship with the F2G. You're the guy going off topic with your crush on LeastWeasel.

So how about you go somewhere else, maybe start another one of your useless chronic complainer threads or something.

Sorry, digression: done. (But nothing wrong with a short segue & gameplay discussion :p )

F2G and the F4U-1 are my keepers from this line (not done with the F2G yet). But it’s a line where I’m happy to keep one on each end of its tier range... it’s a fun airframe with pronounced strengths & decent flexibility when you really work that boost. Like many 8’s, the way the F2G interacts with advent of jet fighters is both a joy and a challenge - the differences in performance between planes is much more marked in tier 8, and while the performance is a straight upgrade from its predecessor, the experiences fighting in them are unique.

So for me: F4U-1 for fun, F2G for a higher-stakes challenge.

I was just saying hi. Now, if you'll stick your nose and your business somewhere else, that would be great. This was a thread I necro'd(mostly), and Bobby has little to no right to attempt to control where the topic goes.

Why you keep insulting me and implying that I'm gay(I am most certainly NOT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH), I don't know. But it needs to stop, and it will stop NOW, OR ELSE. It's rude and most inappropriate for this forum.

I can't bring myself to play the Corsair line, not because it would necessarily be too hard for me or not an enjoyable grind, but rather because that F7U at Tier X looks HORRIBLE out of the box, perhaps even WORSE than the XF-90 is, straight out of the box, and likely in less than a month's time, the XF-90 will be getting a whole new class and two new aircraft in its Tier bracket(IX and X) to feast on.

Meanwhile, THE F7U, gets NO LOVE. I don't care THAT TECHNICALLY ONE COULD MAKE A OP BUILD WITH IT, well OF COURSE YOU COULD.

The balance post 2.0.5 IS SO HAPHAZARD AND HALF THE TIME NOT EVEN THERE, THAT ONE COULD PROBABLY MAKE THE 2PA WORKABLE, ALTHOUGH CALLING ANY SETUP OF THAT PLANE OP IS QUITE A STRETCH TO MAKE.

I care that out of the box, it is a pretty terrible and frustrating plane to play, because it just doesn't have the speed, for one.

I WANT MY PLANES TO BE AT LEAST DECENT OUT OF THE BOX.

Maybe if they buff the thing or something I might consider going down that line, but not at the moment.

As for the F2G, given as we don't even have like a single 1,000-pound bomb(correct me if I am wrong) in the game right now, that 1,600 pound bomb is like a tactical nuke compared to any other single bomb in the game. Even the closest comparison to the kind of WAY oversized bomb for the tier, the Skua which can carry a single 500 pound bomb at Tier III, can still see a tier lower the F11 2-C(or whatever that little Tier II premium American multi-role is called) which can carry a single 490 pound bomb.

To my knowledge there is not a Tier VII with a 1,500-pound bomb, or even a 1,000 pound bomb, so there the comparison still falls flat.

Hey, thread is back on track, for the sake of anyone looking to read people’s thoughts on the Corsairs. Let’s just all drop the forum beef here.

Can’t speak to the end of the line - but it’s not a Corsair, and those airframes are 100% worth having at least one of in your hangar. F2G comes with the most complicated roster of foes, is all. IMHO.

When I read L-Boyz post, my jaw hit my desk.  Hijack a thread with totally unrelated content and yet somehow he thinks I am the [self edited]hole.

And L-Boy, I was just trying to nudge the convo in a humorous way, but I guess that was wasted effort.
