Funny that you mention the Chain Lightning vs the BV P.203. I see an interesting co-relation.
Like the XP-58; the BV P.203 is (by all accounts I can find) first and foremost a high alt interceptor of large multi-engine aircraft.
(or anything else that blunders in front of its guns)
It basically should have no business going low unless there is nothing else for it to shoot.
Even then it should pick its targets with care.
A fresh out of the shipping crate BV seems competitive (if you know what your doin) with a tricked out XP-58.
only instead of being agile it has not one but two extra jet engines instead.
BV P.203 may be worth getting IF you really like to B&Z
Comparing a Dornier 335 is somewhat more nuanced.
Basically the Do 335 is a low altitude schnell fighter/bomber that can drop its payload lower than treetop level and then
hit the boost and effectively intercept an RB-17 in low earth orbit (and anything else not paying attention along the way).
It may be more useful to compare it to the Me 262.
Both are FAST
Neither really turn well.
Both have good forward guns.
The big difference between them is that the BV has 30% more Hitpoints and a Turret.
While the Me has rockets and is a smaller target.
Whereas the BV can leverage that Hitpoint advantage to loiter behind (most) things; even within their effective turret range, long enough to kill them and not worry too much about catching those critical hits.
Suuuure wylle. But what about that RB-17?
The BV p.203 is
Faster than an RB-17. At any altitude. In any direction.
I could be wrong about this but I think it bears saying that mounting Cockpit armor might even let you laugh at a 10+point tail gunner while feasting on that player's tears ...
