the original hellcat did have 6 .50 cals it was changed in later versions.  even some of the -5s had 6x .50s

Or is it just a suggestion ?

It is indeed a suggestion. A good one though. I am sorry to dissapoint you but there's no Hellcat in the nearest updates.

Average Time to Turn 360 deg, s       10.3   seems kind of turny for such a heavy plane, but i'm not complaining

Indeed that turn rate is not realistic. (if you have a look at WT's F6f5 stats, they tell something different, more than 20 seconds)

https://wiki.warthun...hp?title=F6F-5N

I think it should be more or less on par with the F4U Corsair.
the hellcat was just a slightly better turner than the corsair, but the corsair had a far better roll rate.
Dispite being equipped with the same engine, at 20,000 feet, the F4U’s top airspeed was at 408 mph, while the F6F could, at the same altitude, reach only 377 mph.
F4u outperformed the hellcat in climbs, dives and overall acceleration.
F4u had better armament (4*20mm option) but the hellcat had better defensive armor (F4U's oil cooler was vulnerable)

Actually the Hellcat should turn just a touch better than the Corsair, but of course you would have to correctly model the Corsair first to make it accurate.

the whole point of the hellcat was because the wildcat was getting outmaneuvered by the zero.  I was originally thinking 10.8s (same as wildcat and other t6 multi roles ie tornado)  but since it was supposed to be more maneuverable than the wildcat I pushed it a little.  the corsair is still faster so the increased maneuverability gives it a reason to exist.  top speed and stall speed was taken directly from wiki stats on the F4F-5.  Keep in mind model numbers when comparing stats.  the f4u-1 is the tier 6 but often the numbers given for the corsair are for the f4u-4 (tier 7).  since the F4u-1 has a slightly higher max speed (about 3%) I came up with the numbers for optimum speed and climb rate by reducing the corsairs in game stats by about 3%.

F4F hellcat had the highest kill ratio of any plane during world war 2 at 10:1 and shot down more enemy planes than any other allied plane. Given the fact that I suggested it as a premium and the historical significance of the hellcat I think there is a good argument for it to be one of the best planes in its tier but at the same time I didn't want to make it so good that people complain.  I think these numbers are a good balance of the two.  The problem with the hellcat is that it should be able to out dog fight a zero (the most maneuverable plane in t6) yet still carry a 4000lb bomb load (more than some t6 bombers) and then it has to be "Balanced".  That's why I took the time to come up with a balanced proposal for the hellcat.  Now wg has no excuse not to add it ASAP!

The wildcat was not only outmaneuvered against the zero, but also outperformed by it in nearly every aspect.
The hellcat gave better performance over the zero, it could outrun, outdive and outclimb it.
But pilots were still advised against engaging the Japanese fighters in turning fights, it could not outturn a zero.

right and these numbers still wont allow it to outturn the zero it also wont allow it to out climb the zero but since the f4u has a lower climb rate too I didn't think it was realistic to have the f4fs climb rate be better than the corsairs.  The goal wasn't pure realism (as I would like the game to be) but a balance of realism with what is already in the game to make a great plane that isn't too overpowered.  it will be the most maneuverable multi role but light fighters will still be able to outmaneuver it easily since it is a multi role.  really since turn times are speculative anyway arguing about .5s from the 10.3 to the 10.8 I had originally seems trivial.  lets just get the f6f in the game.

We are talking about the F-6F Hellcat and not the F-4F Wildcat correct?

The Hellcat had the Higher Kill Ratio...

Though the Wildcat faced far more of the Best Japanese Pilots.

@Greg,

Why did you think the weekend event ended earlier than 11:59PM on Sunday?

You were killing it in your P38, then you made a comment that the event was over in a game we shared Sunday PM and you were in your B32.

I replied "negative" but you didn't answer.

I think if you had played till the end, you would have been top 2?

Anyway, I would love to see a real Hellcat in this game at T6 and grinding 3 Corsairs is hmmmm.

Carry on,

Gunny
