I sometimes take screenshots of interesting stuff that happens in-game. I'd like to post, but the attachment limit is really small. Is an imagur account the best way?
Is it possible to post a really small thumbnail linked to the larger image? Hide the image in a spoiler link?
Since I'm guessing these questions have been answered, if someone could point me to the forum so I can do a better search, that would be outstanding.
I might not be King of the Hill, but I am the Prince of Potatoes.
Yes, currently imgur.com is the best way. No account required. Doesn't work from mobile worth a carp. Attaching thumbnail screenies in this forum is ugly/useless/limited.
Step 1: Take screenie
Step 2: go to imgur.com, click New Post upper left hand to get the following screen:
Step 3: As you can see, you can paste the direct URL of an image here, or you can drag and drop via Windows Explorer, or do what I'm going to show which is click the BROWSE button that will show a Open dialog screen wherein you can select your screenie/image (.jpg, .png, and I think .bmp, and animated GIF!):
*OF NOTE* - Holding Shift or CTRL while clicking files will allow you to upload multiple images at once instead of going through this process one at a time
Step 4: After the images are added, hover your cursor over a portion of the image and a URL with COPY and a DOWN ARROW will show, at which point moving the cursor over the DOWN ARROW causes a menu to appear with 4 options. The first gives you some rudimentary image editing tools, of great value is scaling your images (Using MS PAINT or PHOTOSHOP/GIMP/Lotus Freelance Graphics/Harvard Graphics/PAINT.NET whatever image editing app may be preferable BEFORE you upload):
Below I rescale the image from 1193x875 pixels to 800x587. It will keep the aspect by default. When satisfied, click Apply and Save, or maybe even just Save to return to the previous uploaded images screen.
Step 5: Back to that pop-up menu, click GET SHARE LINKS:
And then select the BBCODE (FORUMS) COPY BUTTON:
Step 6: Go to the WOWP forum tab in your browser and click the IMAGE button above the POST text field, left of the YouTube button:
and paste (CTRL-V or right click>Paste) in the URL field:
Now you're not done yet because we need to trim and delete portions of this URL, as I'll show next (you may change the order of sequence):
Remove the tail end code:
Remove the beginning code:
And most importantly, remove the s from https!
Now you can click OK at this point, but if there's a problem, you need to start over again. Alternatively to verify it works, I will click in the Alternative Text field, and the preview window will/should, after a brief delay, show a section of the image:
Spoiler
For those that want to hide their images in a spoiler function, that would be the forum editing button labeled SPOILER, between the BLOCK QUOTE and ALIGN LEFT, insert an image as described above, and voila!
This image is at the bottom of the imgur.com pictures window which allows you to conveniently add more images to your growing list as opposed to wiping it all out and starting anew:
Happy Picture posting!
* I lied, Lotus Freelance Graphics was vector based, like Corel Draw 1.0, and Micrografix Designer, running on Windows 2.11 in college on 286 12MHz clones although I didn't use Freelance until my IBM Co-op college days in 1987-88 I think...presentation foils for overhead projectors....heh...hehehe...muahahaha...printed off on these Mitsubishi Thermal printers where each cyan/magenta/yellow/black colour was a full letter size..big waste...but I digress
EDIT: If you use the other tab in image properties you can link to another image, and have it show in a new tab, or the current browser tab. Clicking the monkey on the left goes to a new window, the one on the right will use same window:
So if you like a lot of work, create thumbnail views, post those as the main image, and have them link to the larger image.

Bubba, would you mind signing out of imgur and trying it again? you mentioned at the top that you don't need an account
i tried to place a pic without logging in, and got some way different URL options than i get when logged in
Yes, they keep mucking with their interface....
So, I'll assume you've managed to upload an image and are staring at the image on the imgur.com site:
If you hover your cursor over the image, a small menu will now appear in the upper right corner:
I've been just clicking on Copy link, and a check mark will appear:
At which point you can go back to the wowp forum post and continue with the paste, adding .jpg or .png at the end, and remove the s from https, like so:
to this:
FYI, the "..." just right of the "Copy link" has the edit image function listed:
and the older share links from the previous interface:
Happy image posting Big Wheelz!!!!
p.S. maybe gouldy will update his fine youtube video showing the function in that moving pictures format.
