Hi all.

I played afew games of World of Warplanes when it first came out.  Then, I concentrated on Tanks.  But I've rediscovered WoWP and what the heck?!!!  Is this a completely revamped game?  I don't recognize it.  My stats are gone.  My stats from the previous version are gone. The aiming system seems so rudimentary now.  No real skill needed.  Is this the way Tanks will go?

Also why doesn't WoWP tree include the WW1 planes (Fokker, Albatross Sopwith Camel....)?

I'll tell you....it's been a humbling experience though.  Absolutely don't know what I'm doing with this version.....going into battle with 50% pilots, no consumables, no upgrades....absolutely stock.  Made me remember what it was like when I first started playing world of tanks.

Akhtually... the Renault FT was a WW1 design that saw extensive service in 1918, starting with the second battle of the Marne.

@Laugh_at_U Welcome back. Plenty of guides and videos around if you take a look. Don't hesitate to ask too!

Heh, welcome to WoWP 2.0, you must have been gone quite a while. Yes, the game was completely revamped from the earlier versions. In some ways its better and in some ways it's not quite as good. So, the main mode is called conquest and winning requires your team to control areas to get points. The team that gets a certain number of points first wins. You can also win by killing all the enemy planes after the squall shuts off respawning, but this is pretty rare compared to winning by controlling more of the capture points. Yes, they removed the aiming indicator which makes it both slightly harder to aim and way more realistic; I really don't miss having it at all. Your stats from the previous version should still be accessible in the achievements, but yeah they started over with stats when they made 2.0. Once you have some credits, you can train pilots up to 90% with 100,000 credits which makes the training process way faster. I wouldn't worry about that much until you get around tier 4 because unless you are keeping all your planes, you will move from plane to plane pretty fast until you hit tier 4. Upgrades aren't all that necessary at lower tiers, but they are pretty cheap at low tiers, at 15,000 credits. Consumables can be very helpful at times. At lower tiers, I'd only worry about having an extinguisher. An extinguisher is often the difference between dying and flying. As to WWI things, all of the Wargaming titles start with pre-WWII planes cause that's just how they wanted to do things. The only time there's ever been WWI things in game was for a special event in tanks and WOT blitz.

Thanks for the welcome, tips, and advice.

Last night, my flight of Goldfinch's (my buddy and I are learning together) got to the specialist rank.

On our 2nd and 3rd day of playing..... we had a games like this.  12 kills EACH, rest of the team 4 total kills.  Enemy team....1 TOTAL kill.

Now, I have been called a cheater, cussed out in chat, sent derogatory messages in private chat and rammed every game.

I'm just playing the vanilla client.  No mods, nothing.  Only my Goldfinch is "kitted" out.  I don't even know how many battles I have (40?)

I guess I'll just stick to world of tanks.  No sense in having multiple games where toxic people message you.

What does this mean?  You steer your plane/turret towards the enemy, get them in the gun sight, add some lead to your aim if necessary, and fire.  It can't be any more complicated than that.  There's no auto-aim like Tanks has.  The "skill" is in choosing the right enemy at the right time, and using your airplane correctly according to its capabilities versus the enemy's capabilities.

Welcome back Laugh_at_U and sorry you're not going to stick around.

Calling any game more toxic than WOT's is a new one on me.  In my experience one of the reasons players migrate out of WOTs is the huge amount of salt the players there can throw your way. In addition, I've found less salt here than in WOW's as well.

There are always going to be idiots in any game so that just sort of comes with the territory of playing with other humans.  What you really have to watch out for is when the bots begin to tell you nasty things.

Version 2.0 added a number of successful features found in some of their other titles.  The most noticeable is the conquest mode which is taken from WOWS.  This forces players into certain channels and requires them to do something beyond simply dog fighting and blowing up whatever is out there.  What you blow up and where you do it now begins to matter more.

I actually thing aiming in this version is a bit harder than was the case in 1.9 and earlier.  You now have a sight rather than the expanding shrinking red circle which makes it more realistic and a bit more difficult to use.  But if you learn to compensate for the red plane's movement and shoot where you think it's going to be rather than where it is, it's not that hard to pick up.

Another new feature is the ability to take over the rear gunner's position which makes planes armed with reward facing guns more viable and effective.  The introduction of bombers has also added an additional layer of game play that wasn't present before.

The only game of WG's stable that goes back as far as WWI is World of Warships. The earliest ships in that game were first constructed prior to WWI and WWI ships are represented in that game very well.

In contrast, WOT and WOWP's essentially pick up with vehicles in service from around the 1920's on wards.  It would be interesting to have them included in the game somehow but even the T1 planes currently in the game would shred their earlier counterparts pretty effectively.  It would be interesting but I don't see WG going that direction.

Yes, it's haughty and its arrogant but you're a battleship with 16 inch guns and Britannia Rules the Waves.  Maybe a bit of arrogance in this case is appropriate.

The games used to be fair and each team had a chance . Now the games have predetermined winners and losers. Yes it appears sometimes that you have an affect on the outcome, but in all reality you do not. It has become more of a points game instead of a team fight.  With all these missions the game is now about your points . The game now is designed to keep you from having more than a 50 % win rate. If you are winning a lot, the game will throw you into a losers streak and place you on the losing team until it gets your win percentage back down. Trust me, this is all true and if anyone tells you different then they are either misinformed or outright lying to you ! The game is still fun but not from a winners point of view. Only a few , mostly guys with a stake in this game carry a high win %.  For some reason they think by fixing the game so they win all the time that they get some kinda sick pleasure from taunting others .  Yes a group of players that have rigged the game because they work for the company actually play, change their names and continue to play knowing their team will win before the battle even starts. Not because they are so good, but because they can arrange the game where they are on the predetermined winning team...  This is the bad part of this game and why they don't let us decide the winner by performance and talent is beyond me. All games are predetermined. I will probably get kicked of chat again for telling you the truth, thanks, HAM

Chat rage is extremely rare in Warplanes.  I can't even recall the last time somebody was raging at other players in Warplanes chat.  It is nothing at all like the cesspool that is Tanks.

I don’t recall toxic chat either, but then I don’t care what people say and I’m too busy looking at the minimap/map.

Chat rage generally was worse in 1.x.  I most often got the worst flak from teammates who either accused me "stealing their kills" or some variant of  "you're not doing it right", generally after they were killed and I was still alive.

One notably rude teammate went on a tirade while I was the last team member left against 4 human opponents.  I got 3 of the 4 but the last one finally got me.  All the while, this yahoo was telling me to boom and zoom and that I didn't know what I was doing.  I was way too busy to reply that I had taken too much engine damage  to zoom any higher but he finally shut up.  I wrongly assumed he shut up when he saw I was actually doing quite well.

After I exited the game, I saw this guy had left pages and pages of rants on PM to me that I didn't know what I was doing and I should NEVER fly the BF109Z again (my favorite).  I could fly the 109G but NEVER the Z.

To this date, he is the only player I have ever blocked.

that's just amazing...   that's a deeply damaged person there that might need some real professional help

and we wonder how so many school shooters can become motivated to seek unimaginable revenge on innocent children

is sedentary online gaming somehow related?

does the physical exertion on a football field help to diffuse the heated trash-talking between players?

or is it just deep inside all of us guys, since there's a ratio of about a hundred males to one female school shooters

This guy wasn't violent, just a know-it-all with 10 minutes to kill waiting for the match to be over so he can fly his plane again.  He might have even thought he was enlightening me with his advise but he was probably just upset that I held in as long as I did as it kept him from his next match.

Without the re-spawns in 2.x, players had nothing to do after they were shot down other switch views to the remaining players/bots than and view the battle.  Sometimes their comments were very helpful.  Most of the time I wanted to put a piece of tape over the monitor.
