Plus 1 for the correct an unironic use of  E X P L O D E R A T E in a sentence.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is very hit or miss. Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.

Yes, it's haughty and its arrogant but you're a battleship with 16 inch guns and Britannia Rules the Waves.  Maybe a bit of arrogance in this case is appropriate.

Ok well, last night ...

Did better than most, arrived during the tail end of the big "there is no server" problem so while it impacted my flying time, it didn't impact it as badly as for some.

Anyway ...

Polikarpov I-17: A surprisingly great game in this plane, I'm working on getting better with aircraft equipped with cannons and I think it's starting to pay off at least some dividends.  Sort of cut through the red planes in this mission taking down about 11 but more importantly being involved in three caps and then some extended defense of them.  Got the Aka something medal which is kind of a big deal for me since I rarely see any of the shiney hardware stuffs.  Oh yes, won the battle.  YAY ME!!!

Polikarpov I-16: Not such a great fight.  Ran into two players, one in a Bf-109 and the other in a Hurricane II which took exception to me flying in the same skies with them. Most of the time by the time I knew they were there, I had about half a second left to live.  Did shoot one of them down later but they did manage to make my time in the game largely ineffective.

Lavochkin LaGG-3: Pretty good game in this airplane, was pretty effective helping to take and defend caps and shot down 11 of the red planes in the process and damaged a few others.  Did get momentarily distracted while flying towards a third base to capture and I think it took me out of gainful production just enough that when all was said and done, ended up losing the battle.

That's about it for now.

BIPLANE FIGHTERS AWAY!!! :kamikaze:

I hooked up the controllers today and found out there's a premium plane mission...but I can't complete it in time  :(

The first few battles I was losing in landslide fashion, and flying felt really uncomfortable.  Was I THAT rusty?  Do these planes just suck even more than I remembered?  It was 5-6 battles in that I finally figured out that my throttle controller (which includes yaw) was uncalibrated, so my yaw was reduced to 1/3 of what it should have been.  It didn't help that the first few planes I chose weren't very manouverable to begin with!

P.38 Wilk - dead yaw controller

I-16-29 - dead yaw controller

Fw 190 D - dead yaw controller

SPAD S.510 - finally figured it out and recalibrated my thumbstick (yaw), but I'm out of flying time for today.

Played after midnight, with better results but I'm still only up to about 8 wins of the 21 needed for the mission, and I doubt I can play much tomorrow

Ki-84 - need the x5 XP

Fw 190 D - need the x5 XP

Breda Ba.27 - in a close dogfight and I kept bumping my sniper view button during hard maneuvering, argh

YP-29 - fun plane when top Tier

I-17 - close to specialist

Play t1 and 2.  High tiers are harder to carry in, so play low tiers to get your wins.

Except, that's what the other guy is thinking too.

I tried my darndest, but most of the day my win rate was around 40%, yet by sheer luck the girlfriend was out of the house all morning and I got it done!  :D

F11C-2 - didn't get to use the Big Bomb as much as I'd like

XP-31 -

2PA - fast little beastie

F2A-1 - qualified for Specialist, which shows how bad my win rate is in the Baby Buffalo

Model 81A-1 - I always love flying this agile zoomer

P-47N -  I don't know if I'll ever understand how to succeed with this line

I-7 - change of pace

I-15bis DM -

Ar-67 - suddenly rolling on a winning streak, and the mission seems possible!

Fw-56 - rolling rolling rolling

Ki-5 - keep them doggies Rolling!

P.V.3 - huge desync problems, but still ROLLing

SPAD S.510 - RoLoLoLoLinG to victory!

:medal:

I love free camo  :)

not a good week for me at all...

I did get a new wired razer mouse last week, so I'm going to fiddle with my settings

but it's set for the same dpi as the previous Logitech mouse, so I'll bet it's just generally poor decisions on my part

but I did see more highly skilled folks flying this weekend for the 5xx

I was a deer in the headlights in almost every battle

I went down there to get mine, and it was pretty easy.  Did I win them all?  No, but I was well above my normal levels of winning.

Played that crap Tank game until I got the free T-116 and the dozen games it took to get the "damage 25 tanks" event reward.  Ample reminder of why I hate playing Tanks.  Will be trying the new Frontline map next weekend.

Back to the friendly skies of Warplanes:

P-47N - I did not have uprated engine installed yet, so I put on the boost thingie and even calibrated it a bit as suggested

XP-44 - One of my first battles with this Specialized, so I slapped on the advanced aerodynamic pylons

Fw 190 D - feels like piloting a tugboat compared to the last two - really hard to break 5000 points in this plane

Ki-84 -

C.714 - as much as I fly this I should Specialize and fully upgrade it, but I have about a dozen planes researched that I don't have enough credits to purchase.

Credit grinding in tier 8 premiums to buy an  Me P.1092.    ... Hopped into a flight and learned some stuff along the way.

A P51K and an XP-58 dont work as well as one would think ...

A Vampire at tier 9 usually is in a bit of trouble. A flight of them means that tier 9 is now in a bit of trouble. :B
Same thing for a Horton. :teethhappy:

I Was gonna sell ME 209A. Not now.  It is fun and super :playing: effective paired up with another one in a flight. So i should keep it in the reserve. :great:
which means my grind just doubled up. :(

J7W3...and a couple J7W1.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

After reading about the Tornado being a turny bird, I decided to revisit her.  Oh, my, yes.  Turns, and has big, blasterifying guns.  Four battles, three wins, amazingly slow progress on specialization.  The enemy plane destruction points requirement is pretty terrible.  I will need to fly 20 or more battles to get specialist.  I have been having issues lately picking up a "friend" - a human team mate who shadows me and waits until I *almost* kill something, then steal the kill.  In the last five battles, I've had a "friend" like that for three of them.  Normally, I don't care - a kill is a kill, and when our team gets it in a capture zone, it's all good.  EXCEPT:  when I am on a token mission, or have specific requirements for specialization.  In any case, liking the Tornado again, especially without rockets.

Tempest - well, since Brit MRF is the style of the day, let's work on Mr. T8!  This thing lives for mining plants.  Run around the outside, kill the AA guns.  Then use rockets to finish off the targets the red or blue GAA leave behind, and finish the cap with a GAA shoot-down.  On a map with two plants, this is a winning strategy.  This machine will also surprise a few T8 fighters with it's hard-hitting guns.  Again, slow progress toward specialist, but a handy win to help with the pilot skills.

Ki-102.  Truth be told, I bought the P.38 Wilk to train up my Japanese gunners.  It's a good T3 plane, but I still like the FW-57 better.  Dat bomb, doe...  ANYwho, the Ki-102 is a crazy beast with that big gun.  Need to blasterify some bomber?  DERP, DERP, DERP, BOOOOOM!  Need to take down a bomber flight?  The Ki-102 is the right plane for the job.  Even better than the P-38J, but not quite as good as the Me-410.  Oh, and hey P-38 jocks - don't try and turn with the Ki-102.  BnZ it, and use your altitude advantage.  Trying to turn will get you exploderated.

Session limited by post-battle disconnect.  High-quality programming, brought to you by WeeGeeeeeeeeee!

Feasts on mining plants, indeed.  I'm about 3/4 of the way to Specialist, but it only gains 1% per battle, so I've got more than 20 battle to go.

Tempest - owning mining plant, as suggested above, and doing it solo

P.38 - ups and downs

I-250 - playing sidekick

Yak-15 - flighted RB-17s...some people value winning more than playing the game?

MiG-9 - Yeeeehaaaaaaaa!  ....?

P-47N - "The Fat Freight Train" chugga chugga chugga chooo chooo

I-17 - Sssssnake Plissssken

I-16-29 -

Fw 190 D - I managed to not suck for a battle.

I'm saving up credits for the Yak-19 and XP for the Ta 152, and can only afford one of them  - no idea which I'll achieve first.

Where it really shines is as a flightmate for an IL-20 or an Me-365.  The GAA/MRF combo is brutal, and can beat a bomber/HF combo, IF:

When the HF comes down to play, the MRF is ready.  Only the Do-335 has the chops to take down a Tempest from distance.  The rest of them are going to need to get closer, and the Tempest can TURN.  It's also fast, and those 20s will eat you up while you're trying to escape.  Meanwhile, the IL-20 is just chugging along.  Oh, Mr. HF better get out of the zone before getting zapped, or else he'll contribute to the cap.  One more thing - the IL-20's guns can help when Mr. HF comes down low.  :evil grin:

Spent the night in single-player mode mostly, playing planes I don't usually play - the Avia B.524 for the first time since I got it, the P.38 Wilk, the P-51H, the F2A-1, the XP-36F and the Hurricane Ia.

Bizarrely quiet. 5 out of 7 games being all-bot games despite up to 9 people on my friends' list being active.

Not as strange as being in at least 6 consecutive battles (7, IIRC) against the same human pilot, despite all the other human pilots in those battles changing each time.  I felt like I had a stalker that day.
