I like the I-250 a lot.  (I pretty much love the whole line)  You'll still have to deal with having mixed guns in the MiG 9, but it's also a fantastic motor scooter.

My internet has been bad for the last 6 months with some kind of lag or packet loss that makes my plane jerk around like it has a nervous tick, making it very hard to aim guns.  I've been grinding Warships instead, but I popped in this afternoon to fly a bit for the event missions.   I flew mostly premiums for the profits:

P.V.3 - Warmed up with this one.  Brawled over the Mining Plant FTW.

Mustang Ia - Tried to offset my handicapped aim with firepower and speed.  Distracted a Yak-1M with Whiff-and-Zoom passes, and little else.

Fw 190 A-8 - This plane is a turd whether my network is wetting the bed or not.  Enemy players were talkers, LOL.

La-160 - Lost to two all-bot teams before some enemy players showed up to provide a win.

P-39N-1 - Did the strategery thing.  Enemies flew good planes, but didn't seem to know what to prioritize.

I'll be back to finish the missions tomorrow.  Have to fix my network before I return for real.

Today was an interesting day for flying stuff.  I opened the crates from the Birthday Event, and came out with 2 new planes, the Tier IV Duck and the Meteor.

I've been thinking about picking up the Me 109TL, and since it's on sale, I grabbed it, plus the new French Tier III bomber.

The Duck was as fun as low tier GAAs always are, although the lack of a tail gunner is a bit of a bummer.  I definitely need to watch some Youtube about the Meteor, it was not was I was expecting, although the one game where I was top tier I did OK with it.  The Me 109TL has some fun potential at first glance.  I may have to explore that bird a bit more.

The Potez 540.  yee DOGZ is this plane ugly. . . .and slow.  But dem sum BEEG bombs!  I popped a Special ground target with just two of the bombs, which is pretty spicy for Tier III.

I also put in a few games in each of the P-38s.  I was rather chuffed to outscore a Swoose in two different games.  (not by much, but still.) and get Victories to boot.

Ran the new French Bomber a bit. Bombs are POTENT. Accuracy pretty darn good from 2k Meters. Running hardpoints for reload speed instead of bombsight. I don't think this thing needs the sight. Biggest downside is the absolute lack of speed and it's kinda fugly. As high as it can go, it's pretty close to untouchable at T3. AA can get you but most planes can't.

I think this pretty well sums it up, ItsSubmersible.

In maps that are spread out you spend a lot of time traversing it. But when you get there the bombs do their job. If you slow down you practically hover over targets. Altitude doesn't seem to negatively impact accuracy. At that altitude most planes cannot touch you.

The only thing that got me was another Potez, but it didn't shoot me down. My hitpoints weren't being significantly depleted as I listened to my turret fire while focusing on ground targets. When I jumped to the turret sight I saw the Potez  close on my tail. And it rammed me!

Yep, I was rammed by another turtle.

Smart play, actually. It would take me forever to get to the important target after respawning all the way across the map!

i went with bombsight because of 40 sec reload         but let's compare tonight

you've got enough time to reload twice between most caps       but if you miss with just one of your bombs...

jump in SNL tonight, brother        oh, that's right         by law, you have to attend SNL      court-ordered for you      lol

Not specc'ed, Hardpoints have it at 30sec right now. Drop bombs, turn around and do it again. Not as good as Blenny 18sec, but 500lbs/improved blast takes out pretty much everything it needs to.

Finished the french bomber mission last night. Unfortunately my crates didn't have any new premium planes for me, but they do help with saving credits on equipment which I'm always lacking.

F6U - not finished with the grind to the F2H.  Pounded the bots and it was over too soon.

F2G - Upgraded guns and airframe.  Tried to keep the Mining Plants in the first one and failed.  Harrassed in the second and only got 1 kill.

I-180-3 - Turkey shoot.

P-40 M-105 - Lambert.  Spent almost the entire battle trying to win a missile base.

A6M3 exp - Ooof, difficult guns

Yak-1 - Great, for a 61% pilot in a paper plane.  Loved having the airfield repair, 'cause I NEEDED it.

Hurricane IID - Sir Assassinator.  Got to the last part of the mission.

P-40 - I thought I'd finish off  the mission in style in the mighty P-40, but got 2 inexplicable losses before server reset.  Rigged!  The 3rd battle was a bad matchup on paper, resulting in an inexplicable victory.

Girlfriend's night shift is over, so with my internet issues it will be a while before I'm back.

Started working on some overlooked lines. Specced out the Ki-45 in a hurry. I think I love this plane! Just started working on the Ki102, not as forgiving as the 45 but potent when you do what your supposed to.

Also unlocked the Tu-2. Running stock, one win,one loss. Seems like an oversized Pe2. Does ok.

I tried out the Potez 540 for the first time, and for the Tier it's pretty easy to use.  It helps that the enemy heavy was an uber-potato, though I didn't know that and gave up points trying to avoid it.  The enemy Skua owned the battlefield, and a lot of my cap progress was offset.  I thought I was going to finish out the weekly crate, but for some reason on the server it's Monday already.  :/

More like - Planes I flew this weekend...

Got to start with my bright, shiny FW-252.  Wow, I have a lot to learn with this plane.  And, because it is a bit of a weak sister in the plane type that has the least consequence in Tier X, it is really a struggle to do anything more than play a role.  BUT, it does do something glorious - close escort of bombers.  It is REALLY GOOD at that.  That's not a high-scoring role, but it does help with win rate.  I am slowly learning how to uncork every ACM skill I have to use this plane to get advantage.  I like how fast it is.  The guns are hard to use but when they hit, they lop off great big chunks of HP.  A couple of J7W3 players found that out, the hard way.

I got tired of making difficult-to-use-well cannon hit the target, so of course I changed up to my MiG-15bis.  LOL.  A much better outing, and this plane flies more like stuff that I am used to.  A Yak-30 driver got to feel what a fast 37mm cannon pass feels like.  Twice.  I frustrated the heck out an IL-40P pilot.  The 37mm really does good work on high-HP planes.

Grinding my FJ-1.  Somehow, I didn't have the top engine in this plane, and now I do.  NICE.  Flying around, doing LF stuff.  ABC = winning.  Goofing around chasing a Yak-19 = loosing.  Don't chase Yak-19s, folks.

Grinding my F-84B (now with more Mary Lovehart).  Also did not have the top engines or airframe.  WTAF, over?  Much better with more "go".  Mary and Tiny Tims make ground targets go BOOM.  Again, ABC and win.  The MiG-9 pilot was not watching his minimap very well.  Also, IL-40 pilot had a bad outing.  It is super-hard to feel bad when I just happen to be where he is on the way to where I'm going to be.

Flew my F2G for a couple of battles, because I love what that 1600lb bomb does to stuff.  WOW.  Casually looked at how much XP I have, and WHAT?!?!?  I have enough for the F-94D???  Well, come on, lets do the Vulcan, baby!  Flew that a couple of flights, but I can tell that I need to get the top engines in that plane before I start getting all froggy with other planes.  The stock fan is slow.

P-51H.  Why treat myself to another round of pain that is this Tier VIII LF?  Well, because I want the F6U Pirate.  Why do I want the Pirate?  I really have no effing clue.  Quad 20mm in the nose, and HF-like gameplay, maybe?  Who knows.  But I swear to Odin, when I am done with the P-51H I am going to hit the "sell" button SO hard...  (Unless I am close to specialization, and then I will grind that out, buy spec, THEN sell this turd.)

I-5 ShKAS.  I had forgotten that I owned this plane.  When I play T2, usually I play the Ar-68 and call it good.  But DAMN, SON - this thing really does burn down planes super-fast.  Low-tier token stuff and specialization worked on...

XP-31.  As long as I am clubbing, I'll pull out an American club and use a mid-tier pilot to grab some pilot points.   Low tier token mission additionally worked on, spec A4N repeatedly killed with BnZ, pilot XP acquired.

So after pretty much not flying for 2-1/2 months, I was able to put in some time in the skies of WoWP for the birthday anniversary.    It was spec'd premium planes for me.  Since I needed to finish Period III for the dailies (which for me are more like quarterlies....), I opted to start with my P-80A (I have 4 tier 8 premiums, nothing higher),  Two birds with one stone, right?  Dailies and birthday stuff.

I flew 5 battles in the P-80, going 3-2 with a miserable 2.1 kill rate, breaking 8K with a win just once - definitely a stone, but not going to let me kill 2 birds with it any time this decade.   This 8K and a win would prove to be the bane of my existence.

Since the P-80A and I weren't seeing eye-to-eye, I decided to pause the dailies and dusted off my Tu-1.  It's a heavy, right?  How can you not consistently make 8K and win in a heavy, right?  I did go 8 and 2 with a 10.6 kill rate this time, and did manage to break 8K twice (one was a loss, the other was an attrition win with a McCampbell and McGuire).   Still not getting the results I'm looking for....so....

Call up Donovan in his trusty Spitfire Ia.   Managed to top 8K by a few hundred, but lost the battle.  0-1, back to the hangar.

Time for the DB605....I do better with it than the Ia...usually.  Two 4th place and a 2nd finish later, I'm 2-1 and have my third 8K win (plus an Akamatsu).

Flighted up with a clan mate for the last DB605 battle, and he brought his Goose.  Ah-ha, says I....why didn't I think of that?  I have the Goose.   It's spec'd.  I'm not particularly good in it, but it is a relatively easy plane to do well in.  3-0 with 3 first place finishes, and the last battle was a great one to end the night on.   I closed out the birthday missions with 15K personal points, 1st place, Grade II Heavy, McCampbell, Marseille (my 4th or 5th one), Winged Legend, Khozedub and a couple of team medals.   19 kills - one short of an Ace (I've only managed to earn Aces in the bomber escort mode).   Still a good haul - I don't think I've earned 3 tokens from medals in a single battle before.   Total for the day was 6 tokens from medals and a 73.91% win rate (17-6) for the birthday missions, 20 of those flying solo.

New goal for next year - earn 10K per battle regularly.  A guy can dream, right? :)

watched a YT video about how one ki-45 and some zeroes brought down B-29c over Japanese cities

wouldn't help us, because most guys in WG b-29s don't fly in close formation

but he went in first and critted one, then two engines, which forced the bomber to drop out of the box      the pack of zeroes finished it

and for the few flighted pairs that still fly bombers side by side, that might be an effective strategy for us?

slow one way down, and the other has to slow way down, or lose the shield     slow the first down by coming in from the side, away from the second?

Yesterday's session was a doozy.  I flighted up with my usual bomber buddy, Captain_HindGrinder, and went skipping merrily up the tiers.  He needed a Period I mission, so I started out in the Fw 57 for two, and then the Bf-110 for the third.  One of those games featured someone in a Blennie bomber dogfighting Cap's Potez "just to see how they compared."    (msu_mark?   regardless, was amusing at the time.)  Jumped up to the Swoose for a trio of games, Cap carried my game in the P-47N, and then had "ONE OF THOSE GAMES" in the Pancake.

22 kills, Hero, Legend, Mc/Mc/Mar and Kozedub.  I got the Ace shooting down a human in a GAA, and had 33 hp left at that point.  Cap was also rampaging in his B-29, so we ended up with 4 Flight awards as well.  (we don't get the golden pupper very often, so that one was especially nice to see.)

Finished up with a decent game at tier X in the XF-90.  We had one Draw (which I'm still unsure of just how that happened, as we were ahead on points and caps.) and the rest were Victories.  Fine session flighted with a great person.

Finished up with two decent solo games in the Masha.  Using sniper view to get the guns on target helping, just have to get back out for situational awareness.  roughly 85 more kills to Spec.

The silver pupper is "Air Wolves" and it's something that means that we both had good games (10 kills, 300 capture points worth of ground targets).  The golden pupper is "Hungry Pack" (13 kills, 400 capture points) which means we both had very good to great games. (both require winning, and are reset if one of the flight is shot down.)

to illustrate, I have 133 Air Wolves, and 11 Hungry Packs atm.  Getting the golden pupper is not a common occurrence for me, regardless of Flight partner!  :medal:
