A summary of what I flew tonight:

2PA - I just bought this, and flew my first battle in it

XP-44 - one of my main projects this week

Yak-1M - once I got a win I was finally able to research the Yak-3

Me 209 V4 - Interceptor Hour

He 100 D-1 - Interceptor Hour

XP-44 - I flew it again after the XP x3 bonus reset

XFL-1 - need to pay for the garish red, white and blue camo I mounted on it

F2A-1 - not giving up on the Buffalo

I-220 - as usual, it took me around 8 battles to get a win, which paid for my new Yak-3

I-16-29 - I needed just one ground target to complete the Tier 1-4 part of a daily mission, and that took 5 battles  :/

SPAD S.510 - celebrating, and hoping to get a token

Tempest - I needed ground targets at Tier 8-10 for the above-mentioned mission...none were credited  :/

Specialist planes:

Jazz_4, given that most of the planes that I recognize on the OPs list are tech-tree or freemiums, I'm guessing a F2P player.  Shelling out significant $$ for Premiums may not be on their option list.  Just something to consider when giving advice.

Spent some time in the RB-17 to try and finish up a 100 ground target 10 ticket mission.

NC-1070 ended up finishing up that one.

Working up on specializing Ki-10, Ki8.

Spending time now in Japanese heavy fighter Ki-102 and not having a bad time in it. Used to hate heavy fighters until this one and it brothers came along but the proof is in the flying I guess.

Will try to finish the T7 trees for the other nations as they are needed for the T8, but it depends on finishing the present dailies in time for rollover tomorrow.

Hope you had fun Cap'n!

The Yak line is one of my faves, keep at it!

I just Aced the Tempest, it's not the best for ground attack missions... It's not bad for that, just not the best. Do you have any Heavy/GA/Bomber options?

You are going to love the Yak-3 if you're a fan of TnB.

As far as your Tempest stuff goes, You *do* have to concentrate to get a fully-blowed-up ground target.  But following after a bot GAA helps - you finish off what they start.  AND you get capture points!  :)

About a third of all my premiums were give-aways, a third were "bought" with santa bags and candy cane certificates, and a third were bought direct from the premium shop.   I do buy premium aircraft, but I have a pretty low limit for how much I'll pay for most individual premiums.   I have a hangar full of $6 or less premiums, and I love the little low Tier planes.  :child:  Some of them I buy, some of them I don't, wherever my whim goes.  I'm waiting for several premiums not currently being sold to appear in the shop.

freemiums,

I very much like this term.  My hanger is full of such "Freemiums."  They aren't unwelcomed, but are potential/standby hangar-bays.  That stated; I must give thanks to the players that fund this game and keep the the lights on at the WG WoWp department (if the lights are still on).  Thank you for letting me fly on your coattails or contrails.

I will gladly take any unwanted barnstorming biplanes and monoplanes and other oddities off your hands.  I love those old clunkers!  :D

Oh, no you don't!  We ought not take a #$%^ on new players. (The caveat being we've to play IV or under to complete daily missions).

I'd like WG make all daily missions accomplishable(nw) without 'seal clubbing.'  Furthermore, I'd like to allow newcomers to be able to accomplish the tier VIII-X daily missions even at an XP-hindered deficit.

Liked Yak-1m better than the Yak-3. Yak-1m was my favorite plane of that line.
The more progress you make in the Yak line, the more the altitude nerfing becomes a real nuisance.
I abandoned that line after achieving elite status on the yak-15.

Low Tier planes doesn't mean only "new players".  Pilots of all experience levels enjoy the barnstormer planes.  It isn't like your biplanes get laser beams and rocket packs with experience.  Speaking of which, when I was a teen one of my favorite arcade games was the old 1980 vector graphics version of Red Baron. Pumped so many quarters into that one

Which brings me to the latest installment of What I Flew Tonight:

F2A-1 - I'm getting a lot more comfortable in the Baby Buffalo

LaGG-3 (34) - BiGG Boom34stick

Fw 190 A-5 - HI !  :playing:

Ki-5 - my first battle in this little guy, head to head against an XP-31

Fw 190 A-5 - for some reason the x3 bonus reset and I did more Fokking and got a little closer to finally researching Fw 190 D

XP-44 - I got the XP to research the P-47B but had to play a couple more hours to get enough credits to buy it

I-220 - Winged Legend first sortie :D

Ki-61 - Akamatsu first sortie

SPAD S.510 - celebration time

Ba.27M Metallico - just a few points shy of another Winged Legend

Tempest - my only dead joystick bug of the night

XFL-1

Ki-88

then I purchased the P-47B but don't have enough credits to paint Lady Luck on the nose and equip it for battle so I'm headed to bed

Yesterday I had a terrible win rate, and tonight was the complete opposite.  Maybe 30% last night and 75% tonight.

Some of the Freemiums aren't too shabby.  The XFL-1 is a nice change of pace for an American LF.  The I-207/4 Snowflake plane is just sheer FUN to take out. The Stosser is a joy to fly at low tiers.

Yesterday's session was grinding on the Tempest, followed by a bit of P-47N.  Not a lot of variety, but completed a 10-token mission and got some modules researched, which was the goal.  Mostly wins, decent games despite flying unfamiliar (new) planes.   Two "Hamhockjones" games, one both ways.  I was wondering if my guns had been installed backwards, as every time I started shooting, I got rekt out of nowhere.  ADF fighters piloted by Suburo Sakai, that sort of game.  Thankfully just the one.

You make a good point.
I run a mod that identifies Bots.
When I go into low tiers i will curb stomp all the bots. Because they dont care. :playing:
I can club them all day to complete objectives for tokens without ruining a Noobs day
If you are a human in a stock plane :child: not only will  i give you a pass and not engage; i will most likely break contact if you try to come at me:hiding:
and only escalate things if you are good enough to give me a good reason to. :B

HOWEVER
If you are in a specialist craft you are either a try hard :kamikaze:or a filthy statpadding   seal clubber
and deserve whatever you allow me to do to you.

Yes its a bit extra work to do, but given how easy bots are at that level i like the challenge.:great:

Bee Tee Dubs: dont expect this sort of thing if you are in a tier 4+ plane.
The training wheels gotta come off at some time ...  :izmena:

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is very hit or miss. Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.

Every plane will eventually get to Specialist.  It doesn't mean much, and probably even less at lower Tiers.  I was shooting down Specialist P.V.3 and P-23 and XP-31 last night and didn't detect anything OP about them.  I was a little surprised I could go toe-toe with a Specialized XP-31 in my first battle in my Ki-5.  First to get a critical hit wins.  I launched my Fireworks consumable every time I attacked him.  :D  At the same time non-Specialists were shooting me down.  What those little wings on your icon do more than anything else is put a target on your back.

Tonight's flying was a bit shorter:

XP-44

I-220

Tempest

Wirraway - I was top Tier so I didn't bomb much and instead shot down at least 15 planes

and I flew these 3 planes for the first time:

P-47B - internet problems during the battle so I didn't really get to fly it properly

Hawk II - very turny!

Hawk III - you lose some of the turny to mount silly little bombs

those little chinese premium Hawks were more fun than I expected, but there were very few players to test me in these battles

SPAD S.510 :: P-40 :: MiG-3 :: A6M1 :: XP-44 :: Fw 190 A-5 :: Me 209 V4 :: Venom :: Caudron C.714 :: Ki-88 :: Wirraway :: Tomahawk IIb :: TsKB I-7 :: Ki-5 :: F2A-1

My win rate went back down near 20% so the list of planes I flew tonight is short again:

P-47B - ugh, brawling for caps while my bots seem to be checking their text messages instead of bombing

Tempest - ugh again, more brawling more inept bots and more losing

Fw 190 A-5 - I finally got the XP to research Fw 190 D

I-220

XP-44

P-47B - again, still looking for a win, but all the XP from chasing the elusive x2 win got pilot and plane mostly upgraded

Yak-3 - first battle in this

VB-10

After about a week I finally got enough tokens to bypass the Efimov Medal(?) part of the XP-55 missions so I can start making progress on that again

There were a couple of weird game desync/lag/whatever issues today, where in a couple battles the planes were teleporting around and bullets were hitting targets but no damage resulted.  :/

P-47B - getting a little better...but maybe that's the equipment and crew upgrades instead of me

XP-44 - after switching from the P-47B I keep lining up for a missile run or hitting my missile trigger in air-air combat and big :(:(:( when no missiles come out.  ;)

Yak-3

I-220 - nearing 1/3 of the XP to the I-250

Ju 86 E - my first attempt at flying a bomber, which went pretty smooth since I've watched a lot of bomber youtubes, and because nothing can get up high enough to shoot me easily in these Tiers.  One heavy that tried stalled out and nosed over like a bag of sadness when my turret gunner shot his engines.  The devs really need to balance bombers in the matchmaking a bit better, since they can have so much impact.

it's fun to experience planes that i remember grinding through, but through new eyes

I managed to get through tonight without any battles interrupted by dead joystick or weird desync tonight

Ju 86 E - I'm enjoying more bombification, and skilling up a bomber crew

XP-44 - got the XP to research the B-17D, and as long as I'm flying P-47s I'll take XP-44 to Specialist

P-47B - a dang P-38 was sniping me for a couple battles

Yak-3 - these guns need more pep!  :/

I-220 - this works better for me, and I'm up to 1/3 of the XP for I-250

TSh-2 - I wanted to try the Russian bombers, so I needed a game in TSh-2 to get the XP for the SB, which was far better than my first experience in it a year ago.  I shot down more planes than ground targets.

SB - One game in the TSh-2 got me the SB.  With only 6 bombs it will take a few battles to get to the Ar-2

I did the A-1 and part of the A-5 this time last year.  There's an old thread where I complained about learning to use the Fw 190.  I won't have credits to purchase the Fw 190 D for a few more days.
