I ask, because I had planned to stop at T9 with my HGII.  But flying the other day, downtiered against to Yak-30s, I couldn't help but think that if I have to fight against T10 planes, I want to have T10 speed.  The Yaks can no way match how bloody fast the HGIII is, even if it has the turning radius of an ocean liner.  Plus those IL-40s and -40Ps just about melt away under the 4x30mm cannon of the HGIII.

The downside is that I will have to fly the HGII repeatedly - maybe as many as 100 battles - to get enough XP to move up to the HGIII.  Probably more like 40-50 battles, but still - that's a couple of months of playing for me (I tend to fly all the aircraft in my hangar, and I have quite a few aircraft.  Focusing on one aircraft would make me sad.)

If I flew it non-stop, I might be able to grind it in a couple of weeks.

What say the Experten?

I am no expert but I recommend flying what's fun for you.   :great:   It's why you play, after all.

I am in a similar position concerning the HG-II/HG-III... Sort Of...

Got my HG-II Elited some time back... then I read rather Mixed Reviews on the HG-III.

Then got utterly Derailed by pursuit of the F-86A and Yak-30...

(My F-86 is Sweet and my Yak-30 ROCKS!)

I've got about half the XP in my HG-II needed to get the HG-III, but would need to source the $6 Million Clams to buy it.

Still not sure I NEED the HG-III, as I understand, it looses the AA-Rockets?

I am Loosely pursuing the Russian and German GAA's at the moment along with the BV.P's and Mig-15...

Though recently I've been working up Several Premiums that I received from Santa's Bags...

Got my XF-55 Specialized last night... And got all my New British MR's Elited as of yesterday.

Maybe I have too many Irons in the Fire... 8^)

I decided I'd turn off "accelerate crew training" and see if I can't grind it.  Of course, I'm grinding the B&V jets, and the Messerschmitt fighter line, and the German GAA line, and the Soviet GAA line, and playing in low tiers for tokens...

Well, when someone looks at my hangar, they will see something interesting in the airplanes I've chosen to keep.  The fact that I own almost all the German heavy fighters, from T2 - T9, AND have the Do-335 AND the Bf-110C-6 (premium heavy fighters, German), means I must REALLY enjoy playing those types of planes.  By hours played, the German heavies are far and away the time-spent winners.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my American and British heavies, and have even started down the Japanese heavy line (hmmmm, there's a pattern here, I think), but I always play my German heavies first, and if I have a bad run, come back to my Me-410 for a comfort flight.

I guess I had stopped at the HGII because the HGIII was just more of the same, but at a higher tier.  But after getting stomped by a flighted pair of Yak-30s, I was mad enough to want to have some sweet, sweet revenge on low-altitude, turny, fragile, slow Soviet fighters.  Oh, and when I get my Messerschmitt tier X light fighter, look out.  :)  In any case, I was hoping that those with experience would pipe up and tell me what to love about the HG III better and more than the HG II.

Grinding the III means flying the II, and brother, am I having a blast with that plane.  It absolutely shreds GAA.  And bomber flights?  Wow.  Want to have some low key fun?  Escort your own bomber flights.  Or run it in the weeds with bombs.  LOL.  I'm having a great time!

It took me a long time to get used to it.  It was specialized long before I had enough XP to get the HGII.  Now I seem to raking in the XP - I might have the HGIII before then end of the month.

Very nice, because I hit Tier 10 on the German GA line I have all the engines and weapons for the HGII so that's been my reason to get back on that grind
