With the roll out of Christmas Patch 2018 many of us are having major problems just playing the game.  But the new content is pretty nice.  So which would you rather have?

Even though I no longer use the Logitech joystick I do feel for you all.  If my 3rd one hadn't crapped out, I would be suffering from the same issues and ticked off to no end.

Persha needs to work on bugs over the next few months to restore confidence (sorta) and then new content.

The current issue is that new content seems to be built on top of old buggy software so their development team is not on the ball.  Not that we long-term players ever expected them to be on the ball, but the constant introduction of old bugs and new bugs is not helping the title.

So... FIX the ISSUES and then build new content/events on the FIXED software and not on the old BROKEN software.

Bug fixes, no doubt.

THe game is going on being 6  years old now.

Bug Fixes really shouldn't be a thing anymore.

And they really should fix that up.

However as far as I know bug fixing and new content are not done by the same people in the company.
So this one or the other nonsense is precisely that.

Fair warning. My success rate at speculative guesswork is very hit or miss. Usually I start on the right track and then a make a weird left turn and get lost in the weeds ...
And yet it doesn't stop me from speculation.

Should always fix what's wrong before adding more problems to the mix.

So Underpants you did good here but nothing will happen as the bugs are buried under layers and layers of changes and those changes have no documentation so they do not know where to go to fix them.

Fix the Dam ned bugs, beauty is only skin deep.

I very much doubt it is possible to reverse the avalanche of (t)errors which just picked up more speed with the joystick bugs.

This is no way to start 2019.

Edit:  Dec 26 17:55

Just respawned...

Sadly, marketing departments have crunched the numbers... and it turns out that new content makes more money (short term) than polishing existent content.

So, that means that the execs push for new... and you need people on the inside to step up and make sure customers are not being screwed... and we know how well that worked out for our last CM.

This all reminds me of Microsoft some years back.  Windows was getting worse and worse because they thought there was no money in fixing problems.  Most of their resources were devoted to 'the next big thing', or operating system.  This they could sell for money! The open source community took off with their free operating systems that were being fixed constantly and were eating into Windows marketing share.  Finally Microsoft saw the writing on the wall, had a very public mea culpa and devoted resources to repairing Windows.  Competition drove the changes.

Another like example would be the American auto industry.  Notoriously inefficient and unreliable cars were the normal way of doing business.  Then along came the Japanese.  They showed that it didn't have to be that way and the consumers flocked to them.  The American auto industry responded and today makes much better cars.

So maybe it's the lack of true competition that is the real problem here.  I am not a business person but I would think, in time, this business model will catch up to them.  We might be seeing the early to mid stages of that now what with the decline in players, although the new guys coming in must help them to some extent.  Where is our Mozilla or Japanese?  Our Opera our Firefox our Honda?

Fix at least some of the bugs.  Some of the egregious bugs.  Add some content based on repeated suggestions.

I think you really kind of have to be doing both.

Let's talk about resources and capabilities.

WG has that.  They run both WOT and WOWS which use similar engines and have registered active players in the millions.  Those people may not be assigned to WOWP team, but WG has them so the capability is there.

I have to admit I use the whole keyboard/mouse thingee in WOWP because I haven't owned a joystick in ... well a long time. For me the game works really well with a minimum of issues but if I depended on a joystick (and I can see why you might) and it just stopped working, I'd want that fixed as soon as possible because I imagine that going back to (or for the first time) using the mouse instead would be excruciating.  Stuff that doesn't work just has to be fixed and WG should divert enough resources to WOWPS to get that fix done.

However the game also needs new content.  For years it's labored under the shadow of "nothing new" which tells players, amongst other things, that this is a dead game which is something in particular that this platform simply can not survive if WG want's it to be a viable system.  WOWP needs a stead inflow of new players and new content is what is going to pull them in and keep them here.

Simply put, WG has the resources and the capabilities to do both things at the same time and, to be successful, that's the approach they need to take.

"Don't mess with me because I can squish you like a bug, that is If I should decide to notice your existence in the first place".

Yes, it's haughty and its arrogant but you're a battleship with 16 inch guns and Britannia Rules the Waves.  Maybe a bit of arrogance in this case is appropriate.

You might be interested to know that it was an American, Dr Deming, that taught the Japanese how to be more efficient.

Boeing feared the Japanese would get into the airplane industry like they did with motorcycles and automobiles. This gave them the motivation to make big changes in manufacturing and reducing inventory, freeing up capital. So Dr Deming also impacted and improved Boeing, decades later.

Both.  There are normally different people working on different aspects of the game.  The peeps who design maps and airplane models are probably different than the people who fix the "dead controls" bug or keep the servers up.
