How do you earn xp towards the new bomber line if your previous plane is already at elite status?  No matter how many times you play XP-44 if can't acquire xp towards the new bomber if you are already at elite status.

Not true, you just have to take the check mark out of “accelerate crew training” off the crew screen.

Yup, just turn off "accelerate crew training" from the "Crew" tab in the Hangar and you're good to go. Just remember to turn it back on when you're done farming EXP :bajan:

Yep, as comtedumas said, after a plane is elited, you still earn xp on it that can be spent on the next aircraft in the line, whether that be the thunderbolt or flying fortress. However, if you happened to turn on accelerated crew training after you elited it, you will have to go and turn it off. I already have the XP-72 and just went back and repurchased the XP-44 and quickly grinded through the 20k xp, then sold it again and picked up the B-17D.

You could try unticking Accelerated Crew Training on the Crew tab
C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.

One of things you could do is uncheck the box by "Accelerate Crew Training."

While they seem to be poking fun at you, there advice is sound and some of them are actually decent guys.

At the very least, BWBlackmoth, likely hasn't accumulated a virtually useless amount of XP-44 specific XP; forgive the pun.  It's always great to hear that their will be a new bomber pilot emerging soon, and why wouldn't there be?  Blindfold was kind enough to explain the material acquisition via targets destroyed.  All three charts for low, mid and high tiers showed that ground targets were more economically beneficial in regard to material payout chances than aerial targets.

I don't much care for bomber play, so one might expect me to feel a bit salty about material drops.  I'm not.  WoWP is what it is and as long as it remains entertaining, laisse-faire.  Perhaps, light fighter pilots are getting re-balanced and don't need or deserve an equitable chance for collecting materials, while heavies, and multi-roles are being encouraged to ground pound.

I guess it is possible to rationalize the disproportional material distribution among targets as ground target acquisition may have been obtained from bunkers or areas only suffering minor damage at the fringe of their respective objectives.  Collecting material from downed planes may be a little trickier as each plane is first shot up, blown up, and then crash in the wilderness, right?  Oh, yeah, I forgot the win was a team effort, wasn't it?

Good luck with the B-17D!!!  I'm sure you will shoot me down a few times in-game.

For the record ; getting the 20.000 exp in the XP-44 is very do-able.

On NA server I re-purchased the XP-44 (and remembered to switch off crew training) and had the needed exp in an evening I think. It's a great MR, might keep it for awhile.
