So... just curious if anyone has any advice.  I seem to not have many Mechanical Parts.  I grind and grind and grind and still I get very few Mechanical Parts.

Is it just me?  Am I doing things wrong?  I have been grinding my La-7 during the recent Russian event.  I have a boatload of Airframe Elements, but always am short on Mechanical Parts.

Any advice on how to maximize this?  Thanks for any help.  I reviewed the chart and given how much Mechanical Parts are needed and I seem to be trying to do the right thing, maybe I am just playing the wrong planes.

I feel like I am stuck in an old commercial no matter what.  I try soaking them out, wringing them out and still I get:

Play the highest tier you can consistently win at... that's about it. It's a fairly random drop amount for each tier of materials and the higher above the tier it'll frequently drop at the more of it drops at once.

I grind most of my plane parts at T10 because they stack up so quickly.

Is there a Wisk for Mechanical Parts?

Your best bet for mechanical parts are the lower tiers.

Really? I don't fly much at super low tier.. but at t8-10 I get huge #s of them.. would have figured the amounts would go down at lower tiers?

Example, just got 8 mechanical parts in one flight and a -bunch- of others at T8

I find most of my mechanical parts at Tier IV to Tier VII but that might just be because those tiers are the ones I fly the most.  I have almost 9000 mechanical parts stashed.  I don't know if that is good or not.

I have no idea if that's a good stash or not either. I've got so many equipped and specialisted planes I have no parts ever.

I second the suggestion of lower teirs. I know the quantity of what you get is deteremined partly by how much you’re destroying, and WHAT you’re getting is determined by the type of target/tier... so while high tiers can give you large quantities of materials, you’re getting a lot of everything.

Blindfold lays it on the first page of this thread:

If you’ve got a boatload of everything else, but want the highest chance of mechanical parts - drop to the low tiers where there is little variance in drop types, and fly something that that will allow you single out enemy bombers/heavies, or large armored ground targets. In the mid tiers, it looks like large armored targets give you the greatest chance for mech parts... so something like a multirole or bomb-carrying heavy might be your best bet to maximize loot.

Airframe Elements & Mechanical parts seem like a huge bottleneck if you’re getting a lot of stock/improved equipment up & running, but they’re also the easiest to specifically farm.

Just ran into an old video about this and decided to look in my depot. I have most Airframes, a little less than half of that consists of equal parts Mechanical, Weapon, Heat... about half of that Flight instruments & lastly half of that, Radio.

Seems like they all accrue the same rate relative to each other but it also depends what you specialize. I spec a lot of heavies & energy fighters so I mostly use engine & gun related materials. TnB use mostly Airframes for maneuverability so it makes sense that I'd have a lot more Airframes than anything else.

This can account for why some ppl have huge disparities in their materials. It's not because WG isn't giving them out, you're just using a few given types more than others. Kinda interesting.

Dedicated bomber & GA pilots get way more because they're destroying those special targets & not other aircraft as much. Just a random thought.

Special objects are the main buildings on CCs, Military Bases, and Mining Plants.  What I wonder is why do I get some of these materials when flying a Tier that supposedly will not give them?  For instance, radio electronics in a Tier VII bomber.

I understand I'm a bit late, but I just thought I'd mention - Tier seven is butting right up against period three, and since battles can include a couple tiers, any battles against tier 8s will theoretically ping for period three materials.
