So, I just started using tech tree crew into premiums.  I never really cared about that much before as a noob, but crew training is more important in Tanks so I'm keyed in on that aspect of the game now.  However, it looks like I was using a "light fighter" captain in a "multi-role fighter" premium for a few battles "unawares", and I didn't notice a penalty.  Does it matter what "class" of plane a crew member is trained in for in Warplanes, or is it just the position on the crew that matters (e.g. commander vs gunner)?

As far as I know, class does not matter. It just has to be the same country and the pilot has to be at 100% proficiency in another aircraft. I don't switch my pilots much, but some people will take a tech tree pilot and then put them in several different premiums so they can get the daily xp bonus in each one.

As long as a pilot has 100% proficiency in whatever plane he's supposed to fly, there's no penalty to putting them on a premium aircraft, and the only limitation is that he has to be of the same nation (so no training your B-32 pilot on the RB-17; the instruction manual is in russian only). So if you want to train up your P-51D pilot in an A-26B or in the XP-75, go right ahead :bajan:

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

I did notice when selecting (100%) crew for a new plane from other planes in hangar, that some pilots get 75% proficiency and others get 50% on the new plane. Depends if they are flying the same class of plane, it seems ??
