My topics and posts are designed to give some people a "push off or push forward" in a better direction. Maybe a few people who actually enjoy them but don't say anything. Like leaving food or something shiny (like a mirror) out in the woods, eventually "mentally lower life forms" come around, and because they either don't understand what I am saying or they are too afraid to actually converse about them, they pick up rocks and start breaking things or grabbing the food and running away.

Par for the course, for this is #1 in their playbook. They destroy what they don't truly understand because then everyone around them can appear to be just as ignorant, just as impulsively stupid, and just as humorless.

So everyday I come to the forum this is what I have to deal with. (below)

People whose brain's hurt. Something to which I try to treat for their own good, but they end up just smashing things and yelling. People of very few words who can hardly throw a few sentences together.

Never the less, it is the price of doing business in the forum. So just know that every time a thread of mine is ruined, there will be another one, and then another one. I have endless ideas and theories to explore. Maybe the rock smashes and food snitches will get tired and find other less resistant targets to play with.

Other upstarts have learned to leave my threads alone and hardly say anything anymore. Hopefully the slower learners will also realize this and move on to better things like Rubik Cubes, checkers, making paper airplanes or watching Make Warplanes Great Again rallies.

So this thread has run it's course, on to the next.

Prenzlau

So what happened to this thread has run its ('it's' is NOT the possessive) course, on to the next?  Dang!  I was looking forwards to discussing your hypocrisy behind your back.

Backtracking, making false promises or just promises not kept are acceptable in this game, same as WG/Persha have done with their other games like wowp, wot, wows, etc.

You could not be more wrong Captain. I have expectations and I have plans. If people cannot see them of figure them out, that is not my problem. Think whatever you wish, and keep lowering yourself to name calling and mud slinging.

If you think my character is dubious in some way, maybe it is time you reflected on your own?

For the umpteenth time, let me remind you of what initiated this animosity.  Maybe one day it will sink in to your fevered, febrile mind. There I was, happily crushing your sweet cheeks buddy's record.  Suddenly, out of the blue, he attacks me.  Then you joined in.

Now you are a hypocrite.  But thank you for awakening my inner a$$hole from its (correct possessive) long slumber.  You woke up the beast, now live with it.

Seriously for the one millionth time, Zig and I do not care about your records. We don't care. Good for you. Put them on your wall at home over your fireplace. If Zig or I said anything to you, it was not because of you having a record(s). You just won't give up on that theory. It is not the truth.

I think you know full well. For some reason Bubba I'm held accountable to a higher standard that other people, now why is that? People accuse me of being arrogant, pompous, belligerent, etc. Let us all be honest here, I cannot be those things if I am not held to a higher standard, you see there has to be some contrast, that is how people make judgments. The higher the standard the greater the perception of the behavior. I'm not allowed to behave like you, or anyone else here, but I am also not allowed to be better in anyway either.

It really is a lonely state. I shall lament for a while...

Prelude - I was going to post this on FlakValley's poll question topic, but that seemed kind of lame, so sorry, so I started a new topic, because the great Prenzlau needs his ivory tower! Enjoy...

Freedom of choice
Is what you got
Freedom from choice

Is what you want ~ DEVO

I'm actually glad you brought this up FlakValley, and I know this was but a jest with your wifey, but since this is a very political time and the Christmas "rush" seems to start the day after Halloween, I thought I would mention a few things.

I'm not going to say anything bad about Christmas except every single year I spend all my money, sometimes going into debt to do so, to buy gifts for my kids and people, because that is what everyone (well a lot of people, but not everyone) does and then once it is over I'm relieved that I won't have to go through that until the next year. I feel like politics is very much the same way, relieved when it is over. By the way, we are so used to ads and advertisements that for us to really want to pay attention there would have to be some extreme "shock value" and maybe it is only a matter of time before we cross lines and establish new norms.

Politics, religion, entertainment, advertisements, social media, and yes even games, are all part of what surrounds us, and for the most part we willingly accept or tolerate some or most of it. Things become so normalized that we no longer have any perspective and we keep carrying around the idea that we have some freedom of choice. Swimming around inside the fishbowl is nothing more than an illusion of freedom, and what a glorious aquarium we are allowed to swim in. It has something for everyone. That is the point by the way, "Something For Everyone", like the Devo album that came out in 2010. Some of the lyrics to "We we do".

rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;">What we do is what we do
It's all the same, there's nothing new

rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;background:none;" /> rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;">What we do is what we do
It's turnin' 'round on me and you

rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;background:none;" /> What we do is what we do
rogramme, sans-serif;background:none;" /> Just different names, it's nothing new
rogramme, sans-serif;background:none;" /> What we do is what we do
rogramme, sans-serif;background:none;" /> Cause all we do is what we do

rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;background:none;">Don't do what I do, just do what I say!
rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;background:none;" /> rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;">"My door does what I say - I say 'open' and it does!"
"My lights do what I say - I say 'on' and they snap on!"
"My car does what I say - I say 'start' and it jumps out!"

rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;background:none;" /> rogramme, sans-serif;font-size:18px;">"But my dog doesn't do what I say."
"My girl doesn't do what I say."
"My mind doesn't do what I say."
"I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!"

No matter how involved you are, you are still in the same fish tank as the rest of us, and your perception goes only as far as your perspective allows it. The thought of peeling back the layers and tearing down a few walls is so uncomfortable to us, that we will actually fight for our fishbowl, and aggressively defend against those who would suggest such a thing. If you don't have black or white, you have gray. If you don't have darkness you cannot see the light. You cannot have perspective of anything outside the fish bowl, while you are in the fishbowl.

During World War 2, a French philosopher, playwright and novelist Jean-Paul Sartre paid tribute to those who fought against the German occupation by writing an article titled "Never were we freer than under the German occupation". It speaks a great deal of freedoms lost, personal rights lost, torture, the psychological trauma and brutality of a military occupation. He spoke of people despite many of the "norms" of their old reality being shattered, still tried to have some semblance of what they had, because that was psychologically comforting and maybe even necessary to hold on. The real truth is in the articles title, "Never were we freer...".

So what am I getting at here??? My point is that in life it is the moments of stress, trauma, tragedy, loss, when norms are broken or threatened to be broken, that allows us to have a different perspective. It has to be dark so you can see the light. It is like survivalists commenting on how they had never felt more alive then when they were fighting for their lives. Our lives are often so subdued and routine that we lose all perspective on what is actually happening around us. It is what Henry David Thoreau meant when he said, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation, and go to the grave with the song still in them". That was back in the middle 1800's, and how far we have come. Again it takes the dark to reveal the light. What if however your reality is nothing but repeated shades of gray, and you have gotten used to that, all your life. We do what we do but we do not know what to do?

“I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.”

- OG Mandino

I've been controversial and polarizing. I've been extreme with some people, at times crass and seemingly arrogant. It might be truly irrelevant how I really am, but for your own good, I am what I need to be. I am your darkness, will you not embrace me? It is a thankless endeavor from my point of view, but perspective is something often gained in inches, not miles. (and yah, CM's and KM's for our metric friends). I'm fighting for you, even if none of you are fighting for me. Do you not see me for what I am?

Prenzlau

Well said, Prenzlau.  You summed the purpose of life up when you said "It has to be dark so you can see the light."

At base, all we need to be able to learn is contrast.  Everything we experience is variations on that theme of contrasts presented to us in different forms and strengths.

From the contrasts we gain knowledge by comparing the results of the contrast experiences and from that knowledge of the differences we knit the sum of the experiences into a continually expanding cloth of knowledge.  We are growing ourselves, one experience at a time and some come easily, some come hard and painfully, but grow we do.

It is impossible to not learn, for we are experiencing all the time.  You could lie in bed all day, unmoving, with closed eyes, not thinking as hard as you can and at the end of the day, you will still have learnt something.  You will not be the same person.  Each of us is just a massive number of mental parts flying in formation; swap out a few parts here and there and we remain "the same", but we are minimally different.  Continue the process and eventually we are someone else riding in the same vehicle.  Just like your blood cells changing completely over the course of seven years.  Yup, you still look pretty much the same, but you are not the same person you were seven years ago.  Same with experience and knowledge.  We all do it at different rates and perceive in our own ways, but change is inevitable and consequently the acquisition of knowledge and experience, and subsequent growth, is also inevitable.

I don't believe in norms except in the transitory sense.  There is just information we have yet to acquire, knowledge we have to accumulate and assemble to enable ourselves to see/ recognize/ make sense of the next piece of information we can add to our personal evolution, und so weiter.

Good post.  I'm enjoying your pensive side and in all fairness it must also be said that I do enjoy your hammering a dishpan with a spoon next to the ear technique as well.

Whether you receive cheers or catcalls, you're doing your part.
