they walk around and talk just like me, but they are not like me...

I've noticed with my flight partner SpiritFoxMY that he recognizes patterns in the flow of battles, whereas i just run around and try to put out fires

but that can't just be the only part of it... they also have to fly like a computer, only sending just enough bullets downstream to kill something, and no more

he often turns away toward another target even before his first target explodes, and then that first target always explodes on cue

early civilizations equate technological advances as magical, and i qualify as an early civilization

it's magical watching videos of top pilots, and it's impossible to believe that i can ever reach that level, but...   i can dream

what building blocks result in a top level pilot?    too much Mario Bros?    too much chess?    too much caffeine?

The words of wisdom from one of my chopper pilots. He painted it on the side of his little maintenance shack in the arctic.

Fly fast

Fly safe

Be cool

I sense you are much like me perhaps, any more than: Throttle, pitch, roll, flaps, weapons and targeting, that I can fit on my joystick, and fagetaboutit!!  I try and formulate a strategy but soon am over whelmed with just shooting the crap outa stuff.

Prolly the reason we make good wingmen if given the chance :great:

I do alright till i get distracted and overwhelmed and the lag doesn't help. My joystick has cleared my desk many times.

As a lone wolf I try stick with the fighters but bots seem to try lure you into AA and I'm finding that's an easy way to die.

With a lot of my shots not hitting last night because of the lag I flew some fighters and GA's with cannons and when the ramathon started against me it was just a matter of lining up,not touching anything untill you get close enough for a burst.

I dont get to play often because of a project im on out of town so it's like learning a new game everytime I get home.

I used to be not bad at rocket kills but have a hard time getting one now unless at point blank range but I managed a few tail prop chops last night and thats a first for me.I also pulled off many rams after getting rammed by the same guy time and time again.

I still love this game.:izmena:

Kinda same Chuck. Not to mention I don't play all night like I used to, most my old buds are gone and the new crowd seems a bit cliqueish and think I am just a joke maybe with only a couple hundred battles since 2. whatever.

Ya,PT's bar and grill is dead.

As long as your having fun.

I love flying and I also have a lot of guns and like shooting things and that keeps me here.

The all nighters, play till the reboot. Cold beers in the fridge, some good tunes on and a big doobie rolled up!

3AM and your trying to figure if you should have another beer or hit the sack. I usually chose the beer!

More into the fighters and more agile ga's right now.

Im not much of a ground pounder but I enjoy trying to protect the bombers  as escort.

It has everything to do with knowledge.  How much damage are those cannon shell going to do, and how many HP does that aircraft have?  If I know that the last rounds are going to finish the job, then I shift target.

It's the same with GAA.  I know my cannon will take out an AA gun with one shot.  So, instead of goofing around, I go to sniper view, poke each AA gun once with the big gun, then fly around blowing other stuff up.  If I know a target takes two bombs and not just one, then I lay two eggs on the target when I pass.

Know which sectors to take, and which to leave is more subtle.  Is it a human trying to flip a cap, or a bot?  If it's a human, and it's over half-way flipped, then I usually don't bother.  That one is toast.  But if it's a bot, then I have plenty of time to fly over there and turn the clock a little back toward blue.  Flying solo in a cap area is a good way to get shot down, so don't do that!  :)

Not sure I would claim "knowledge" as I have the knowledge (as well as others who have posted) but rather the ability to stay on task ;)

And while your head is in the cockpit, it has to be a blessing to have someone like us keeping their eye on the reticle and finger on the trigger :D

Only in my life.

I rarely flight up but know when someone elses is protecting an escort.

Cable guy changed all my connections from my modem to the pole so I hope the lag was on my end.

I think a big part of it is knowing when to fly it like you stole it and when to fly it like it's your mom's newest plane and you better not scratch the dam paint.

Some people have the ability to almost be like Neo and see the code.  Others, like me, don't see the patterns and get lost in the noise.  Sometimes I recognize the patterns, like with the AI defender heavies always teaming up, but other things escape me.

I had a roommate in college who would never attend the lectures, read the course book once, and go in and ace (or strong A) all his tests.  He had a total photographic memory.  Meanwhile I attended all lectures, took massive notes, did all practice questions twice and barely squeaked out B's with the occasional A.

Some people just see and absorb everything around them and can operate on a level that I simply cannot.  Does that mean I am stupid?  Far from it.  Some are just inclined to certain things and while I can read, write and comprehend some high level technical stuff, I just simply don't see the patterns unfold like others.

Probably why there were so few aces who came out of WWII and Korea intact.  Some just have a knack for it and others either survive or go down in flames.  I like to think I would be the guy to come out unscathed with maybe 3 victories and some stories to tell.  Most likely, I would be buried under a little white cross in some field in France.
