Ar-2 should have the same minimal optimal altitude 700 m as Pe-2, or lower.

Ar-2 is a diving bomber just like Pe-2 and 900 m minimal optimal altitude  is too high.

Well what does minimum optimal do? does it reduce your engine performance or something?

I'm actually quite happy they introduced the setting to discourage low-alt bombing as it simply shouldn't happen when bombers are defined as high-altitude aircraft in this game.

As for your suggestion I think that would mean changing Ar-2 into a GAA in this game.

Minimum altitude works the same as maximum operational - reduces engine power. Honestly of all the things wrong with the Ar-2, this is the least of it. If you don't want to eat the penalty, just... you know... dive bomb. Drop down to minimum safe altitude during the attack run then pull up once its safe to do so and fly at optimum between caps.

Just because it's less efficient doesn't mean you don't go down there. I like to fly my Peshka at 400m but I cruise around at about 800 - 1000.

The most of it is... ...(wait for it)... ... literally everything else but its payload. It's a good payload slapped on an awful airframe.

An average player with an average goal: greatness, someday. Today, mediocrity will have to suffice. But no matter, I will always play to the best of my ability, and I will always strive to make the best of my ability just that little bit stronger and better.

The problem with the Ar-2 is that it is so freaking slow and full of gunner blindspots, that you'll never get out alive ... the Pe-2 at least has some speed to try and get away.

One of the best dive-bombers is the Blenheim F .. no speed penalty as all 4 bombs are internal and pretty fast and maneuverable.
