it seems to me this elite status thingummyjig is far too easy to acquire.

ive seen too many pilots with well under 100 games, with this emblem,

all it is,is a red rag to a bull

these new pilots might as well have come and get me written on their planes!

it really doesn't help them one bit

They get more difficult in higher tiers. Lower tiers are easier and take fewer tokens if you choose that route.

Bombers are harder, there are few specialized bombers. Will be easier now that the win requirement has been removed.

I think he meant "Elite" planes, not "Specialized" ones. Anyways, to get your plane to Elite status you simply have to research all modules. It's supposed to be relatively easy to acquire, but at higher tiers modules require a lot more experience to be researched, which slows down the process :bajan:

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

How do you see whether they are elite?  I can only see whether my planes are elite.

Bad news?  You can't.  Good news?  It don't matter unless the plane has been flown a bunch to take advantage of the increased XP for the crew.

Basically, a newly Elite plane is no more dangerous than the reg same type plane.

Spec is a whole other matter which I guess is why they stuck them 'shoot me' wings on it.

There's no indication in-battle unless you have an eagle eye and can spot the special Elite emblem on the side of their plane, if they're even using it.

Inside the hangar the Elite plane's type icon changes with a few details added around it, and you can filter the aircraft selection to only show Elite aircraft

Exactly, which is why the OP was talking about Specialized and not Elite.

I use the elite emblem a lot these days. Not time to put my Xmas emblems up, and a WG anniversary? Just go with the elite emblem for the bonus.

I have some specialized fighters, but other planes? May take eons to shoot down 10 planes in my Dornier 17 z.

Not in this new game mode.  you can fly in the middle of the bomber formation and take advantage of ...
1) all the turrets going off (thus doing most of the work for you)
and
2) not being a primary target to defenders
...  to manually target low hp defenders.

When you arent rushing ahead to bomb an up coming stronghold to gain capture points...

i flew bombers a lot today, i always flew away from the bot flights and never once had anyone approach me

with AA dialed back a little, it was a stroll in the park

it's not that i did that much damage, but it was zen-like serenity
