When I mention perspective, what I am really talking about is how a person views something. This sounds much like perception, and it is similar but it is also different. A person's attitude, belief system, moral values, any preconceived ideas or opinions, can modify and influence their perspective. It is not enough to simply be aware of your current or situational perspective, a person is also responsible for understanding why they have a certain perspective. It is possible to misjudge and misunderstand people and situations and not understand why. It might be helpful to focus on some techniques to gain additional perspective.

Gaining information always enhances a person's perspective. Taking an interest and pursuing knowledge about a subject or person certainly adds to a perspective. Discovering new and different ways and methods that are used by other people.

Seeking out your quiet time or immersing yourself into a focused activity. Quiet contemplation allows your creative side to flow and often this leads to self analysis or reflection. Sometimes just watching the clouds, or a river, or the star lit night sky can provide spontaneous perspective. Also, a focused and repetitious exercise or task can allow the creative conscious to flow free. When the sub conscious takes over (whatever we are doing) the conscious mind is free to roam.

Understanding our emotional flash points and negative psychological reflexes can help us avoid negative reactions and negative behaviors. We all have certain "wired" pathways in our personalities that accelerate reactions and often bypass our higher thinking. Thus we react "without" thinking and often cause harm to others and embarrassment for ourselves. Self reflection and attempts to understand these pathways can change an individual's perspective.

All people to various degrees have complex attitudes that are emotionally based. A lot of time an attitude is a composite of many things. This can lead to seemingly unreasonable and illogical positions. This can also create misjudgement and flawed decision making. Breaking down attitudes and understanding there complex components is not very easy. The process itself can be the first step towards gaining a new perspective.

Trying to understand someone else's situation, their behavior and using some empathy can allow you to gain a new perspective. Sometimes it takes reaching out and making an effort. Bridging a gap and finding some common ground. Building trust and friendship paves the way for new perspectives and understandings.

Understanding and appreciating the moment. Realizing that life is nothing more than moments, memories and events strung together. Each moment is an opportunity to make changes and take action. Understanding what you can control and what you cannot can help mold better expectations and again create better perspectives.

If some of any of these ideas on perspective can help anyone then I will be personally gratified. This is helping with my perspective as a player, a member of the warplanes community and forum contributor. It is an attempt to contribute something positive and constructive without my usual self-aggrandizing. I hope my readers will consider this and speculate.

I've always been an absolutist myself. Which means I believe in a rational "right" "correct" or "true" perspective.:B

Damned relativism.

Dude, this is all I wanted from the beginning... even if it's not 100% sincere (and that is NOT an accusation) the tone is completely unobjectionable.

Also, your effort to break up your posts is noticed and appreciated. It makes it far simpler to isolate and analyze your point.

:great:

The odd Spam®©™ thread doesn't hurt either, it was honestly kinda fun.

you quoted a trick to learning empathy

overcoming emotional reflexes in a sociologically positive way is by ignoring ego driven feelings

and unless you are a deeply ingrained narcissist it is a learnable skill

concise and well written thoughts

More than one person has inferred that my "quoted paragraphs" are some form of approximation to something I must have read verbatim from some book or website. This is simple stuff that I wrote in a non dramatic simple manner that was meant to inform and not incite. If any of it sounds like the kind of stuff you might read or find on any number of websites, it is because I'm well knowledgeable. I would have preferred long in depth and overly complicated paragraphs and maybe because I did not do that, it just doesn't seem like the typical Prenzlau post. The object was to do something different.

Unlike some people who keep repeating the same behavioral antics, I have tried to accommodate. I have changed my font, spaced out my paragraphs, watered down my inflammatory rhetoric, cut down on the number of my posts, ditched my Latin titles, and even worked on my grammar. All for the well deserving crowd in the forums. Some are now disappointed in my lack of drama? Cenotaph has said on more than one occasion that he thinks I should "know my audience". I've been bending over backwards for my audience but I already know where all this is going to go.

If people think that all I am is an over dramatic narcissist and that all do is antagonize and agitate without purpose, you would be greatly mistaken. People here secretly want me to smash the forum china shop and set fire to the off topic section and create drama and conflict. They won't admit they are little different from the Roman spectators who publicly cried outrage at the level of blood and gore inside the coliseum but would regularly attend to get their fill.

This forum is truly boring without me, and now that I am conforming to the wishes and requests of my audience there is a real danger that Prenzlau will become boring as well. All I want is an honest admission that whether you like me or hate me, you want me here. You want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. Ha!

I must state that this is not an attack only my inability to leave somethings alone.

I work in education and everything that i read goes through a plagiarism checker, you came in at 90% unique. Given the margin for error blah blah blah, this is perfectly acceptable (might have lost marks at being under sourced). 10% would lead me to believe that there might be a few 3rd party ideas in there that were built upon. Hence the "well quoted".

The forum did just fine before me, you or anyone player. Many a character have come and gone, the forum continues to grind forward (or whatever we do). No need for  indispensability complexes, we all learn quickly that someone else can always step up.

don't stop until you get bored of the game or this place, but "need" might be a stretch.

oh i can obfuscate like the best of them, but i deal with long winded ivory tower crap all day. it is rather nice to post things -80% fluff, with bad punctuation and semi-literate sentences(because i am lazy).

We didnt get off on the wrong foot, we disagreed on words. How can you reach a middle ground without arguing (and throwing a few insults in for fun)?

Ill call you out as i expect to be called out. Ill also come to your defense if you insult a bot and get a vacation (still can't believe that happened).

alright off to write 600 words to get a 100 word point across (see why this place is great).
