Looking at the chart, yesterday's peak of 400 players was at (I'm assuming) 5pm est. This would be at 9pm in England (representing EU) and it would be 10-12pm in RU. The today we seem to have reached a peek of 600 players from 10am-2pm. This could mean two things.

-Most kids and adults are at work school from 7am-3/4pm

-Most people in NA don't have the time to be on as early as we see a lot of people on the chart being on

-The peaks fit better with EU and RU play times

-A large number of EU's players could be younger kids (12 year olds something like that)

-Or a large number could be adult RU players staying up late.


 

The numbers for online steam users has not gone below 200 players in 24hrs.

-The lull is just about right for a US prime time

-NA may roughly have 200 more players than usual (considering my earlier comments)\

Ok, what we are having here is a perception of misunderstanding. From my POV, we now are talking about three different softwares (Steam launcher, WGC Launcher, and WoWP). My questions are the same as the RU WoWP pilots in trying to find information if the Steam version is using the same Bigworld engine. Everyone keeps dancing around saying it's the same, it's the same, but they are not saying specifically what the game engine WoWP is using for now on either platforms. My examples of game engines are CryEngine, Bigworld, etc. For now its an assumption that Bigworld is still being used because that is what WoWP was built on. Nothing is official until WG staff says it is. Whether Bigworld as a game engine for WoWP is still true IDK, ergo the questions being asked.

Ok, perhaps I’m misunderstanding.  This steam deal has nothing to do with the game engine.  Pretend it’s a new type of wgc login method to the existing 2.duh which is still using big world last anyone stated it still did which for me was the dev questions post when I asked if they planned on moving to the new 1.0 WOT engine and they said nyet.

The timing for a steam launch should have been during the launch of 2.0 - if they wanted to do this right.

Valve is based in Bellevue Washington, but there are undoubtedly millions of Steam users around the world

The beauty is, we clamored for this (using Steam) years ago, after 1.5 drove most of the player base away. Specifically, The new matchmaker didn't have enough players in NA to work properly. Sometimes it was bad for EU and RU, but never as bad as NA. Since we had the smaller population, we were largely ignored till GL pushed through a special NA only match maker. Meanwhile, the overall population declined.

WG/Pershas answer? Bots.

Anyone that remembers the 10-20 MINUTE wait to get a 3v3 knows this. Fortunately for WG, most of those guys gave up so they aren't here to pitch in their nickels.

World of Warplanes was built on the Bigworld Engine and is still on that Engine for all instances of the game.

No plans to change as far as I know. If that changes, we will gladly post about it.

But we are here on Steam now! Same game and same servers, so there will be more population for NA, EU, and RU.

if my limited EDT late-morning-early-afternoons hours are any indication...   plenty of new pilots are flying!

 

and they all seem to be rushing up the tiers, faster than the rest of us would recommend

The other game is all in one, WG keeps separate games and WOT isn't even on Steam.

I know this doesn't count native launcher numbers but, this should make clear the other game is not superior in numbers to WG games, sure has more people, but not as much as many think.

 

P.S. I hope WG starts doing some advertizing or just simply mention WOWP again during WG events

should we merge our non-steam wowp.exe into steam?

 

i haven't read this entire topic yet...  is that difficult to do?

 

are there any pluses/deltas from running it through steam?

 

i would think that it would encourage more new players, if we all did this?

 

 

edit: i just added wowp as a non-steam game...   it just starts up the Game Center allowing me to clear cache

 

but steam does report "Last Played = Today"

 

so maybe i incremented the player total by one today?

a big negative is you have to give up your current account and start a new one through steam.

We all end up playing on the same server, so player base stays the same ...

Interesting so you are not the only noticing this - now I know why it seems there are more players per side. Now starting to see 4 to 5 per side.
