From the FAQ link I referenced:
Q: Does this game differ from original one?
A: No, absolutely not. All the features and content currently implemented in the game is available in the Steam version. It is the same game and the only difference is that you can launch it from your steam client.
Q: Which servers do the Steam users play on?
A: We do not have separate servers for Steam users. Steam users play on the same servers as players who do not use Steam client. When you initially login you will be asked to bind your Steam account to one of these servers. You won't be able to choose your server ever again so choose wisely.

A. Because it's said that there are 2 different clients ... Early Access version is almost identical to the live client. The reason for the almost identical is that WG standard client is region specific, whereas steam currently has 1 unified server.
The premium shop works differently, in WGC and dedicated client you purchase via the premium shop and activate codes through the Wargaming Code Activation system. In steam you go through the dedicated steam shop system.
But the aircraft, tech trees, mm and maps etc will all be the same. The way accounts are created will be different.
For premium like in ships you can purchase via DLC packs, like a permanent sale of item packs. Whether this will be adopted by planes is planned and to be tested. Depending on success and feedback decisions will be made from there.
For the servers: The steam players will be able to select the regional servers the same as those who WGC.

It has also been noted on the RU WoWP forums too.
So if you have been asking the past few months why bug fixes have not been corrected, here is part of your explanation. Some WoWP players are trying to find out if the Steam version is using the game engine. BTW it has not been confirmed if the Steam version of WoWP is using the same Bugworld game engine as we currently have for WoWP. No WG staff has yet to confirmed or denied this item. To me it looks likes seal clubbing season has been open. So enjoy.

You may be interested in the fact that the official WG staff's answer is in the Steam Community Hub.

Maybe everyone had there fun in the other and this one will be more pure discussion... In all honesty I hope it does bring more people to the game.
^ still makes me smile every time I think about it though. 
Especially after I came online and cruised the forums before going off to other things, after a particularly bad day for issues and crashes, before giving up when my flight mate was kicked out on the launch of a battle again. They're looking at Steam client stability huh...

Completely the same version and same servers. The difference is how players are connected to the game and how their Client is read on the back-end.

Also, apologies to everyone that the accounts do not cross-populate. Your WGC account will always be valid and won't be FORCED to go to Steam.
This just adds a new platform for other players who already have the Steam Client and hopefully brings in new players.
As for Reviews, please feel free to post them and we will continue to review. All of us Wargaming Staff will still be here and will be on all channels for communication and information. Nothing is getting removed, simply adding more reach!

Don't worry. If there's any truth to the whole ~90% who play the game doesn't read the forums thing, they won't even know this thread has taken place or the discussion of more seal clubbin' possibilities... 
There's also the possibility that they've caught onto it already without the need to be informed in the forums, or the ones that do the clubbin' regularly
So in actual fact, nothing's going to change... funny that!

Keep in mind, that it only accounts for steam users (not NA total) and that ~400 number is spread across 3-4 servers.
I think Steam is more of a 'murican thing anyway, but I wouldn't exclude the majority of the new steam users being long time RU, EU, and NA pilots checking things out.
Be sure to check your logic privileges before posting on the forum.

See my post #44 above Flak. Same servers/same engine. All Steam does is allow steam subscribers/accounts/users to easily install and play on wowp versus signing up at WG.net and making an account/download client that way.

I saw some talk about how Steam's English speaking audience was now at about 20% of their traffic... no clue how accurate that is, but it suggests that Steam, infact, isn't a 'Murica thing.
