One of my favorite planes and I have been hoping but the problem with having the f6f in the game is that it IS a game.  They try to make things balanced and fair(with the exception of Russian bias) and the F6F would be just too good.  The F6F should come right after the F4F so that would make it a tier 6, makes sense right?  So how do you have a T6 multirole that can whip Japanese pure fighters in a dog fight and yet carry 4,000 lbs of bombs and still make it "fair" so the Russians don't get their panties in a bunch?  Keep in mind that in the game the t6 do217 bomber has 8 x 550 lbs (250kg) bombs. The Russian t6 bomber has half of that.

They can't. Lockheed-Grumman won't release the license image without royalties. This is why some American plane renders are not happening. WG is not buying them.

are you sure about that or are you just speculating?  Im no expert in patent law so I don't know bit isn't there a thing where they expire after 50 years?  Like how Remington and Kimber and everybody and there uncle now make the colt 1911 and there is nothing colt can do about it?  If the patent on the F6f has expired than how can they still have proprietary rights to the image?

As I remember from years ago, this is what I remember the Devs said then. However, WG has deleted those threads since they are update 1.5 threads. I can't show them to you.  I think royalties run until 95 years of invention until its goes into public domain. If the Devs change their mind I would welcome it.

that’s [edited], if this is true they did release the wildcat, tigercat.  And it Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.  Lockheed wouldn’t have the license to the plane anyway.

What I don't get is why Grumman, which is Northrop-Grumman by the way, would license the F2F, F3F, F4F, F7F, and XP-50,  but not the F6F, which is in the game IL2. Something isn't kosher here.
