Alot of people seem to be having alot of problems with the joystick controls. Changing these setting in my default.xml ( at the bottom) helped me out.
I run my joystick (X52) with 0 deazone 100 sensetivity

I changed the axis curve in the XML to keep from bobbling all over the place.
1st number is the joystick input
2nd number is the curve position
bear in mind - this doesnt FIX the control-lag issue, but it can help you control your plane better

Thanks for posting this WolfsBlade!

If they do not change the curve with the launch of CBT I will be trying this out.  Ver. 0.2.5.1 feels to me as though this very curve is not linear but rather exponential towards the top end.  An exponential curve would certainly explain the huge dead zone and the massive over control issues most of us are experiencing.

Well, I had a chance to fly some earlier today...the joystick controls are worse if anything.  I'm going to try your fix WolfsBlade, I'll edit this after I test it.

Edited 6/2/12

I am indebted to both WolfsBlade for bringing these adjustments to light and to Seachest for the exact curve settings to return my stick to normal!  Thanks guys, you rock!

Bolded the parts I changed, I placed this in the Joystick.xml file since I was on Joystick settings.  More fluid movement for me.  I have a Cyborg F.L.Y. 5 Joystick that I am using, I dont like my X52 that much.

Quick Edit:

The reason I edited it, I did not like that for little movements, you had to move your joystick over 1/2 way over only to find out that you needed a tiny bit less, but then it was too little.

End Edit.

Great job Wolfsblade ya beat me to the post :) .
I run the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. under Win 7 x64. The default setting are a nojoy/wayoff. I`ve been experimenting with my default xml input mapping and came up with the following.I have edited the curves and the sensitivity setttings. The numbers I`ve changed are Bolded. The ingame sensitivity/deadzone slider bars needs to be indexed with numbers to be accurate, but editing the file will get you dead on spot.

Default seems to work better than the Joystick preset, but idk.

Confirming that this helped a bunch with my saitek cyborg evo.  I still have a small deadspot but that may be due to my joystick being a little worn out.

Tried a few of these out, the joystick curve changes made my plane too sensitive and almost uncontrollable.  Changed back to defaults again.

One thing I did notice though.
Changing this
 0.800000
to this
 1.000000

Removed the boost from your throttle lever.

Ill try and post my newest settings that im currently working with.

Those allow you to set precise Sensitivity settings since the ingame GUI Slider Bars are only colours and have no form of indexing ie: numbers or markings,so you really dont know what your setting is.
A sensitivity setting of 1.000000 is max sensitivity, 0.5 is 50% sensitivity etc. so 0.450000 is 45% sensitivity.

The dead zone settings of 0.002500 are my preferred settings as my joystick has some input by just placing my hand on it.The default Dead Zone is 0.050000 and you can see from looking at the Slider bar that is too high. You adjust the dead zones by testing ingame if you have any unwanted input from your j/stick when flying level and straight.Or looking at the stick properties in you Game Controller Control Panel.

Thru trial and error I`ve tested the settings on different planes to see which is the best all round and tend to like these. But these settings are personal and fit my style of flying,so adjust to your liking.
N.B. Please Calibrate your JoySticks before adjusting your settings..belive me it helps.

BTW since changing my curves I no longer have joystick lag in game..I move my stick my plane moves. :)

Roger that is good if you have the WEP mapped on a different button etc. I think some planes in RL had WEP enabled at the higher end of the throttle P-51,Spitfire...correct me if I`m wrong. So not a bad idea leaving it on throttle, but enguaging at upper end instead of at 50% throttle.

If I leave it on the throttle, I can't get 100% throttle without going into WEP when I don't want it to.  Easier for me if I just take it off.

am i wrong for wishing there was a default for fighters and a second default for heavies?

is the xml file changes affecting both settings choices = "standard' and 'joystick'?

seems that i need full sensitivity for heavies, but then i wish that i could be smoother when flying light fighters... sigh

can anyone think of a workaround?
if i switch back and forth from standard to joystick setting when moving between heavies and lights, would that be a workaround?
