I came up with the formula for player frustration levels in WOWP based off this video LMG shared in the official discord.

(time spent in hanger+time spent in q+time spent in battle)*[(number of bots/total number of planes on the map)+(expected parts payout/actual payout)]=player frustration level

and yes, there is provision for division by zero

in a nutshell

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

Mebbe we should crowd-fund enough money to pay for James to go give a talk in Russia

Tie them all to chairs, prop open their eyes with toothpicks!

I can’t promise that if you choose to fight, that there will ever be a victory…or a day that we can step down and say our work is finished. Our lives are the sum total of thousand of choices. And the burden of that freedom is sometimes too much to bear. But you won’t have to do it alone anymore. We will find a better way..

Together.

When it comes to my personal view on 2.0.5 after viewing this video and reviewing what I experienced, it's basically like this:

  1. I invest time and effort into playing a match on my GAAs to grind towards specialist.
  2. While I can try my best to influence the outcome of a match, my team still has the overall control of what happens to any sector I do capture.
  3. Every time a match is lost, all progress I got on the "destroy buildings" mission is lost, effectively making my progress null and causing me to have lost the time and effort invested.
  4. Each match I lose in sequence excalates the level of frustration quite fast, as I can lose anywhere from 5 minutes in a knockout to 15 minutes in a close match where I give my all.
  5. The closer the match is, the more paranoid I become about losing all the progress I could get out of it. Some longer matches on my IL-2 (t) I capture 4-5 sectors depending on the size of the map. Considering it takes me around 27-30 buildings destroyed to flip a simple Garrison at minimum, that could easilly mean I lost 70-80 points. That's a HUGE loss of progress for a match that should be one of my best experiences, regardless of outcome. Once I finish the match, I feel exhausted in a bad way on a win and I just explode in rage on a loss.
  6. Quick victories are also a waste of time since I don't get the most out of the battle. Worst case scenarios I assist in securing two sectors, making my progress dip as low as 10 buildings.

So yea, once my brain realized that a few days after 2.0.5 came out, I decided that it was healthier for me to play a game that didn't make me feel like I was wasting my time on victories and more so on defeats. Just by removing that victory condition you cut down my frustration level by like 80%, but I fear it won't be going anywhere :sceptic:

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

Hmm, it is fascinating to see how frustrated us players can get and how quickly that frustration can set in. I'm usually quite patient by I myself have said some less than kind words when I'm trying to get specialist on my aircraft only to get stomped by somebody in their specialist aircraft because they have every advantage on me except durability.

Needless to say, the rather infuriating nature of the systems introduced into 2.0.5 is not exactly the best thing for retaining players who will hang around and help build the games community. I've been slowly phasing out WoWp and pretty much the only thing driving me to play at this point are my friends and they have similar motivations to keep on going, despite all the muck we have to trek through just to enjoy the game with or against each other.

I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*

CHINA NUMBAH WAN

I even made a custom skin for my IL-10M!

I too find myself playing less and less with each passing day.  There are less human players in each game and usually the bots are not worth being in the match.  The air defense bots are better than the bots on your "team".  I vote for going back to pre 2.0 version of this game.  In real life once you shoot someone down they don't come back to shoot you down.

I wonder what the factor number is for WoWP?

1.X WoWP veteran - Airborne Scout - Class of 1.0

Update 2.0 - It's not a bug, it's a feature

"Battle is the Great Redeemer. It is the fiery crucible in which true heroes are forged. The one place where all men truly share the same rank, regardless of what kind of parasitic scum they were going in."
