More times than not, when I use esc - EXIT GAME my computer gets frozen and I have to log out and all that jazz.  I find that disconnecting the ethernet cable and waiting for the message that you have been disconnected from the server works better.  Simply click OK.

Have you tried just alt tabbing out of the game & closing it in your task bar?

I have had crashes where I could try to initiate the task manager but it would never come up.  I had to do a physical power down to clear the problem.

Op's issue is different, his game isn't crashing he just can't exit normally.

Yes, I used to use that but it got so it quit working, too.  Same frozen computer.  But I just realized I can hit the Disconnect From Server button without having to physically disconnect anything.  LOL

Have a better solution :if you have window 10.... hit your " window " key, then right click the window icon. Select " sign out " and it will bring you back to your windows opening screen, and it won't hurt your computer.

Windows key & alt + tab do the same thing, the OP said that method stopped working as well.

it's every single time with me, dammit...    i can usually just wait it out until it goes away, because i really have nothing else to do

tasl mgr doesn't even show it's still running any longer, yet it's still on my screen

the 'sign out' method works perfectly when i absolutely have to do something right away on that pc

Have you tried clearing your cache?  /s

This used to happen to me every once and a while. Now it's every game I play longer than 15 minutes. I'll try direct 'disconnect from server' this time.

Alt Tab F4 is supposed to work. Haven't tried it yet.

It won't be on the "apps" list, but it will be there on the second list of programs in task manager, titled background processes. I find WoWP on that list, and hit end task, and that will make the frozen screen disappear and give me back full control of my computer.

I am not a fan of having to go to Task Mangler and manually closing Wargaming processes after I've closed the game and the Wargaming control center.  Why do those zombie processes still exist?  And what, exactly, are they doing in the background?

Same here ; 4 out of 5 times after exiting the WG centre shows 'game running' and two WG processes still are running and eating cpu/memory.

This was introduced in the last couple of patches, did not see that before.

Try alt+tabbing out and closing your Game Center. I close mine as soon as I start the game. It seems to give me more stable frame rates and stops the hangup when closing the game.

Thanks for that tip.  I will try it.
