I will get accused of beating a dead horse for this im sure, lol.  But as far as in game planes go and how many you get goes like this. The current system.

1. If you do really well and stay alive most of the game, you get only 1 plane

2. If you stay alive about half the game, you will probably get 2 planes, but no guarantee..

3. If you get killed quick and often you may get 4 planes. no guarantee.

4. If you stay alive longer between deaths, you may get 3 planes. but no guarantee

So, the rewards system is the better you play, the fewer planes you respawn. Understand? LOL, don't worry, no one else understands either..  thanks, hope that helped  you guys out ...ham.

LOL  Yes in the bombers too.  The sooner you get axed the higher your score.  We used to call them Mystery points (actually Mastery points) because they didn't make sense.  I believe that system is alive and well only better hidden.

it's actually worse than that, the less you die, the less personal points you earn.  To get max personal points, one death is mandatory.

How do I earn tokens?  Daily missions say available in conquest mode only.  How do I switch to conquest mode?

Yo T_D_,

Unfortunately it will be a while before you can earn tokens from daily missions.  While you can complete the mission for tiers 1-4, you do not yet have any tier 5-7 nor any tier 8-10.  You need to complete the daily mission at all three tier levels to earn tokens from them.

You can earn a single token for some medals.  For example, if you shoot down 15 planes that nets you an ACE medal which I think pays out 1 token.  But you can only earn 1 token per day per medal.  So 3 Aces in a single day = still just 1 token.  Also, I read today that the system does not pay out tokens for the first medal below tier 4.  Not sure if that is true, I haven't tried it.  Note that not all medals pay out tokens.  So you may have an extraordinary battle in, for example, tier 5 and still get nothing.  Someone smarter than I (or less lazy) can probably point you to an area where it tells you which medals earn 1 token per day.

Oh yeah, Conquest Mode is the default mode and what you are playing when you hit battle.  There are some special weekend modes from time to time, the most recent being Attrition mode but again, Attrition was only at tier 4 and above.  The game will tell you when another mode is in play, so far it's in special events so it's plastered all over the place.

Don't rush up too fast, it gets harder quickly.

Thanks for the info Bobby et al.  So should I retain Tier I aircraft as long as feasible?

Kind of...

You don't want to rush to higher tiers before you have mastered the lower ones.   Getting the specialist ratings will also help avoid advancing before you are ready.

You want to try and earn "Elite Status" as soon as possible as the experience you earn is "Free Experience" and good for researching all aircraft lines,  not just the current line you are flying.  To achieve  Elite status, you have to research and purchase all of modules to the max levels.

Ideally, you would wait until you had your tier 2 aircraft upgraded to elite status before you started flying them.  Not only would you be getting all free experience, but this keeps your stats up by not getting trounced by fully upgraded planes.

It takes a lot of patience to follow this advice, especially when you only have a few planes.  I often "cheat" and fly mine before they are fully upgraded but rarely will I fly them stock (ruins my stats).  I do go through all my favorite elite planes every day to get the 2x first flight experience bonus and then see if I can upgrade anything with the Exp I've earned.  If I'm feeling lucky, I'll consider flying  some of my non-elite aircraft.

All "Epic Achievements" will get you a token for the first award of the day.  It is possible to earn quite a few tokens per day but I think they limit the token awards to Tier 4's and above.  There are quite a few awards but you will need to fly multiple aircraft types (ground attack, fighter) so develop as many lines as you can.

excellent post, bradk!     we want to hear more from you in the future, brother!

i'm not sold on the idea of keeping any T1s, but there's a bunch of fun T2s that i would certainly consider...

you could buy back any T1s for pocket change, if you needed one for a special occasion

you'll need extra hangar slots a lot sooner than you'll need T1s for anything

and slow methodical advances upward, on many trees at the same time, gives a new pilot a broader overview of the game

gives you a chance to stumble onto a playstyle that fits you like a glove, even if you didn't know anything about that line before you started playing the game

german heavies were my first omg line, and i'd never heard of a 110 anything except for kodak film

I see some people have already answered the first question, but, perhaps I can help you out a bit more. In your current state, there's not much of a way to earn tokens beyond tiered-decorations (one time-achievements for account milestones) and one particular medal you can earn in all tiers, Hero of The Sky. To get a HoTS you have to play your aircraft in its defined role quite well (aka getting "grade I" mastery level,) which you can see when you check scoreboards (by pressing tab,) just look underneath the scores and you should see circles and what you need to do to fill them just above.

Looking at your current statistics you are flying Multirole Fighters, which if I recall correctly, the mastery missions for those are to destroy aircraft while defending friendly capture points, capturing areas, and destroying air/ground targets while capturing areas.

Conquest mode is the default mode you can play at the moment, so you won't have to worry about that. There's only been a couple events with special gamemodes running and usually those are restricted to tier 4+ aircraft.

To be honest you can do what you want progression-wise, however a general rule of thumb I like to follow is to always have twice as many credits as required when purchasing a new aircraft, that way I can both purchase it and kit it out with upgrades/equipment/consumables. Also helps buy the next plane in the line if I'm really desperate to stop grinding an aircraft.

Another thing I strongly recommend, hire a new pilot for every line of aircraft you go down and just carry them from aircraft to aircraft as you go down it. The retraining fee of 100k credits for 90% trained can be a bit brutal to start, but eventually you will make enough money to be able to easily afford training him to the next aircraft in the line. This helps to give you more skilled crew to transfer between planes and also reduces skill reset fees since there's no real "one size fits all" pilot build so you can build a pilot for every line. Oh, and you can check your pilot in the "crew" tab at the top to configure their skills.

I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*
