I just started flying my pancake (XF5U) and have been working toward Specialist...My original load is for the two 1,000 lb bombs vs the upgrade of Tiny Tim rockets (which I don't like).

After getting my F4U-1 Corsair upgraded to Specialist and losing my two 500 lb bombs for the eight rockets, my question is once you "Purchase" Specialist.

"Can you pay to REMOVE Specialist if you liked Elite better?"

After thought.  Why would WG give you less options after having to pay to "UPGRADE"?

You can choose to go back to standard config. Just look at the top of the Upgrade screen once you're specialized - you can swap between it and Stock. Unfortunately, you lose all the benefits of Specialization (more equipment and consumable slots, the ability to mount equipment above Improved quality without penalty) although there are those who would argue that that isn't really a very big loss to begin with.

As for why they would give fewer options... no idea, however I speculate that its because the Specialist feature is incomplete and the other configurations simply haven't been added yet. I dread to think that they might be added with additional "missions" to unlock individually in the same way we're unlocking and paying for Specialization now.

Click on "stock" in the upgrade menu (IIRC you need to apply too) Look at the plane symbol. If the wings are gone, you are back to elite.

I have my 1099B-2 in its 5cm config.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

Wait it did work....but did not see it changed until clicking on another airplane.  Was able to go back to specialist with just a click and without paying again.  All stuff still there.

Thanks for letting me know.  Won't be as worried about changing my pancake to specialist now.

Stock and Specialist are completely separate. You can move equipment between configs without demounting.

Same story with my seafang. Actually regretting getting it to specialist now. Trying out the rockets for A2A style play but not having much luck in hit regs even with skills focused for it. I'll wait and see if ultimate equips makes a difference.

I think you can fly Specialist with either max ordnance or no ordnance. I fly Freya without ordnance just fine.

I meant the bombs are locked on the seafang when specialist. Sorry didn't mention that part. I prefer the bombs on the seafang. I get more results out of it than rockets. And the new equips actually benefits bombs more than rockets... go figure!

Definitely also make sure to check out the Pinned Specialist thread and add your thoughts there!
