What does that say about the game and not the players?

from EU CM post...

Hello all!

Having gone around various sections requesting people for their top 5 desired features to return or to be introduced to continue or come back to playing. I have finalised the summary as follows. This has been passed on and we can hope for some of them, but no promises are being made:

Top 5 Community desires from EU:

  1. Fix Bugs.
  2. Optimisation.
  3. End-game content (clan battles).
  4. New/More Game modes in rotation.
  5. New content (Aircraft lines).

Fix bugs:

General desire for most bugs and things that cause crashes and issues to be addressed and prevent interruption in game-experience. Such bugs like chat window bugs, flight accepting bugs. Issues in the hangar causing crashes and in-game graphics bugs like respawning spectating a bot aircraft or from inside your aircraft so you cannot fly.

Optimisation:

Improved optimization in the hangar speed, but also in game so that FPS is not only higher but more stable. Many people have issues on certain maps causing large drops in frames, slow loading and especially when trying to stream. A lot of requests for updated engine and the use of systems in other games like carousel in ships to speed things up for players.

End-game Content:

Main request has been for players to have something to do with their tier 10’s or at least for them to have a use for the clan system. This has included requests for ranked game modes like in ships where every few months you have a ranked “season” where you play a ship (aircraft) of a certain type to level up in ranks for a reward. The idea of clan battles and having more hardcore deathmatch style games that allow players to be able to purely dogfight one another and play as a coordinated team. Currently maps don’t accommodate this very well but is a frequently requested feature.

New/More Game modes in rotation:

Many players state that they would like to see attrition in the normal map rotation. For there to be more variety in game modes and to have the choice to disable them if you the choice is there like in World of Tanks, encounter battle modes etc. Some people liked the idea of invasion game mode as well and how this could be used for some clan wars content.

A lot of requests for hardcore or deathmatch modes for no respawn etc.

New Content:

Many requests for new lines and to extend the grind for many players. A lot of requests for French aircraft, finishing of lines that are currently introduced.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1-4 echoes NA server concerns, but "New Content"?

i'm not sure that a single NA post listed 'new content' as an issue for 2.0.5.3, but maybe i missed one...   those wacky Europeans!

Yet nothing about this horrific grind. It's the veterans that typically spend money on any game - very few people try out a game, drop a ton of money into it and leave. Yet, WG is completely DEAF to veteran players.

I'd like to hear from them what they estimate it will require in time and silver to upgrade all 144 of my planes.

I just follow General Patton's advice on this concerning " regrinding " all of my aircraft again: I don't like to pay for the same real estate twice.

Last night, instead of my normal weekend past time, playing WG titles, I helped myself to some games I picked up from the Steam Summer Sale.   One of the cheap games I bought was pretty buggy... when I went to the Community Hub for the game, I found out the game was from a 'one room studio' (i.e., super small studio) and they were very active in communicating with players who purchased the game.... they took feedback, commented on game suggestions, recognized the bug problems and had already pumped out several patches to fix things and make sure the game ran smoother.  In other words, it was in the interest of this pissant little design company to sell their game... and they were doing a damn fine job on their end.

Now compare that to WoWP and Wargaming.

Seeing the super serious outreach and communication from Wargaming...     it's unbelievable in this day and age to operate the way it does in a market system.

Good luck!  I'm going to go back and play some more [edited]games from Steam.... oddly enough, those [edited]games create a more entertaining and fun experience.

It feels rather good to know that the same issues are being brought up on both servers.  Hopefully that gets things looked at, reconsidered and redone sooner rather than later.

It never feels good to think that you're the one voice shouting in the wilderness, but the proliferation of thoughts and ideas that mirror my own from the first 72 hours of patch 2.0.5's life is very reassuring.

^ For some reason , it appears most our veteran players, are not speaking out on this patch ...its a shame really...... but Im doing the same , many other good titles....but honestly the weather is too nice and I have so many other things to do.

My regret though is the time and $$$ I dropped on 3 WG titles..... new players beware.

this is not in any way a scientific measurement...  but my WR has begun to slide backwards, since the equipment patch

can't blame the bots, can't blame the humans on the red team, can't blame my planes

that leaves just me... but how?

The AA and ADA updates make flying in a contested zone more hazardous.  You can't just fly in and mop up now like you could before.  You have to lure the ADA away from the middle so you can stay out of range of the AA.

Most of the veteran players have quit wowp, and (in my case) check in every once in awhile to see if the game has improved. (It hasn't)

word gets out on our jaded veteran discord (better known as Dracs discord) and we pop out of the woodwork to welcome a new batch of formerly cool aid spewing fans to our ever growing club.

welcome ! mmmm more salt.

My feedback: i think you should completely change game mechanics, and premiums, and gunnery, and progression, and sound, and maybe add some more bots, and for sure keep the red vs blue plane characteristics.

Edit: not sure if that is what happened here in the latest patch, at least now people can say someone asked for this in NA.

I'm not sure we asked for anything in this very latest patch, except for the bug fixes.  I mean, Hangar Chat is now finally fixed?  Before moving on to Russian Roulette, errr, calibration, maybe they could have fixed that bug first?

Just a humble suggestion.

All excellent ideas noted above, some very well thought out and articulated.

IMO, from a playing for FUN perspective, which, first and foremost every GAME ought to be, change is required to stop the seal clubbing and unbalanced matches, otherwise the future may not look good for WoWPs. This new Patch pressures veterans to go back and regrind in lower Tiers. The amount of time required to unlock Specialization and Slots and Enhance and Calibrate, puts veteran players in these Tiers longer than they would normally play, and for the new players, this is very disheartening. Consider confronting a player who has unlocked Specialist but is still grinding to get Ultimate Enhancement on various equipment, which takes numerous battles and creates a serious disadvantage- a significant imbalance- to the point where new players often quit in the middle of a battle because the "GAME" is so uneven and no longer "FUN". I have seen it happen. Without the benefit of a manual or tutorial, and having lost a lot of tokens and materials, I have played lower tiers in order to figure out what the hell is going on. I have seen numerous players quit in the middle of a battle. I have been tempted to do the same, especially when the BOTs are running the game.

Some points that caught my eye:

Get rid of Calibration- useless.

Get rid of Specialization in lower tiers to level the playing field and maintain a semblance of balance and /or,

Implement Co-op Battles- excellent mode- Priolia said last fall, they could introduce new modes literally on the fly. What are they waiting for?

Points not mentioned:

Training Room should be FREE. period, Place to test as in Ships.

In fact Ships has some really good things going for it, in comparison, like less aggressive BOTs, and lots of SPECIALS, and free give-aways, and end-game content.

Much has been covered above, including the need for better communication, which again, was promised last fall. Why are DEVs in their own discord world and not here in these 4ums? Right, it's a time management issue... or is this Crisis Management sovietsky style?

"Слугай і не добовай. Давайте сто грам! На здоров'я ! Побачемо що станется..., "

Now that we're a month into 2.0.5, trying to re-assess. Setting aside the initial impact of the patch (community fury), I keep coming back to two things:

1. The grind from Elite to Specialist, let alone the grind for salvage to upgrade gear, just isn't particularly motivating. Maybe it's shallow American need for feeling of achievement or progress, but spending hours and hours for incremental improvements just isn't engaging. There are so many suggestions already posted that would be engaging content that I won't bother here. Over the past few weeks if I get on Planes it's to get the win in the one tech tree plane I still have to work on, then maybe a game or two in planes I just like playing, then I'm off...

2. The win requirement, both for many of the specialist missions and of course salvage. For a single, subjective (yet self-serving) data point, I'd consider myself above average, but definitely not top tier. I have about a 2/3 WR, and average about 10,000 PP/game. Based on data I just pulled out of my [edited], probably about half the games I win I don't score very well, either because the game is over too fast or I'm just sucking out loud. This means that 2/3 of the games I play are for no progress at all. Again, suggestions for solutions abound. Top nine on winning team and top three on losing is one I like.

Anyway, combine these two points and you have a situation where the only reason to play (from an "I'm getting somewhere new" position) is a very slow march towards improved versions of planes we've already played for a long time, with a majority of time spent in-game a wasted effort. Again, not really motivating. Also recognize this is a veteran complaint; the specialist grind actually feels pretty organic if you're actually working through the tech tree.

Only bringing this up now and again because I really do like the game at what I think of as its core; I'm really hoping there's new content added sooner rather than later to re-engage as many folks as possible. At this point, somewhat counter-intuitively, they might find launching a PTS is actually a good way to get people to re-engage, and for the community to get a flow of information about what's coming down the pike.

Don't know what happened but suddenly my fps has dropped from steady 40-60 fps to often less than 20.
Seem to have happened overnight, last time i logged in everything was ok.
Tried 3 games today, max 32fps (alpine map), min15fps (pyramids map)
unplayable like this.
When i do detect graphic settings, it advises me to go ultra high, while current settings are just high.
