Don't get me wrong, the entire update isn't bad....just this crap. I like the idea of having a new level to work for. Plane specialization seems like a good idea, but not when all you're getting, basically, is the right to attach stuff we used to get to attach with no effort. That's a downgrade, not an upgrade. How did this pass QT? Who actually thought "making the players work for something they already had is a good idea"?
Fire that guy/team.
Agreed, wholeheartedly so.
From another thread, my thoughts regarding this patch and the fate and fortune of my favorite class of plane in the game:
That's not the only amiss thing with equipment regarding different plane types.
Bombers do get "turret stablilzation", but for ones that have terrible accuracy and a long reload in exchange for a very large bombload per reload, the changes screw them up big time(The Tier IV and V German bombers come to mind) The accuracy module screws up their already long reload, the reload module butchers their questionable accuracy(if they can even take both together, and that's a big IF), and any survivability upgrade module nerfs into the ground what was already among the worst in tier in terms of yaw rate(turning circle). Couple that with no more base anti-anti-aircraft fire reductions available, and with the only ones being in upgraded improvements + the original(nowhere near adequate by the way) 30% anti-anti-aircraft fire damage reduction being locked behind what's essentially a paywall, and you've got a recipe for disaster.
High-Altitude AA was always ridiculously overpowered to compensate for bot Heavy Fighters and High-Altitude Light Fighters not bothering to attack bombers played correctly(at higher altitudes) or sucking horribly at it, but now that they don't suck as much at taking out bombers, the jig is up. Forget doing the one thing most critical to having a good bomber game: staying alive(because it takes bombers so long to get from place to place at higher altitudes). It seems clear to me that WG doesn't want you to do that. They want you to die often and have spectacularly terrible games in bombers to increase the grind. I mean, if not that, then what? What other reason could there be to have OP AA, a new blanket patch that just "happens" to nerf bombers(some of which were "eh" to begin with), and suddenly somewhat competent AI aircraft all together at once in a trifecta of doom? It's not like the German Bombers were especially strong, and the rest, well, they had their good games, and then they had their games where AA or a really good player Heavy Fighter blew them out of the sky several times in a row no matter what they did to try to counter them.
If that wasn't bad enough, German Rear Gunners on their Bombers are notable only for how ineffectual they are.(sad trombone). Now that Bombers need their turrets more than ever, those with abysmal turrets and similar max altitude to same-tier heavy fighters(I.E. German bombers) are just cannon-fodder. German Turrets don't really have much protection for their gunners, and the new upgrades will only make this more of a problem by lessening the gunner's health pool. To make it even more of a game-losing issue, German Bombers have multiple turrets, which, given their abysmal dps, only serve as a weakness in allowing the enemy to have more angles to shoot at the gunner and thus more chances to crit the gunner.
