It takes a REALLY long time to either grind the needed tokens or the mission for specialist status. The MRF gets hit the hardest due to how the calculation of plane kill in personal points work.

...all that new whiz-bang stats on the stat card seem to have ignored the fact that external ordnance still have pretty severe negative impacts on speed and maneuverability and strapping a load of explosives on my beautiful butcher bird turned her into a flying pig even though the stats don't show it in the hangar. I'm pretty sure they impose penalties on rate of roll and acceleration as well because... flying with ordnance strapped on felt...like flying with ordnance strapped on.

 

So I threw 60 Tokens to "Specialize" my beloved Würger and then immediately stripped all external ordnance off it and... that did not seem to affect the plane's "Specialized" status one bit: I still had all four equipment and consumable slots (Cockpit, Airframe, Engine and Cannon). I couldn't tell if I'm still getting the bonus XP the plane is supposed to get and its too soon to see if my Equipment will be limited to only "Improved" without my bombs and rockets fitted but for now, I'm satisfied.

 

Also, a fully Specialized airplane has a goddamn "Specialist" marker on it highlighting the pilot for all to see. Its like a freakin' "SHOOT ME" flag out there and its hilarious to think about. 

 

But anyway, yes - for now, no bombs on my Würger. Straight up fighter, with Reflector Gunsight, Improved Lightweight Wing Frame, Improved Engine Boost Mixture Injection System and Improved Reinforced Bolt Carriers.

 

(Also, I'm calling her Freya from now on. The rest of you shall refer to her as Lady Freya, the Winged Death, Bringer of War and Avatar of your Doom)

 

You can strip ordnance off specialists?

I was focused on MRF as I performed better in those.

This patch has great features and stuff but is what is needed 1 0r 2 solid patches from now.

 

I can kill GA's on Steroids, took me a long time to figure it out... Bombers because they fly so high, but can't fault a good wing for kicking azz. GA's and Bombers do control game if experience players are in them.

Pretty dumb that after you grind to/spend tokens for the specialist version....you still have to pay to purchase the stupid thing.....

 

I don't suppose this is a way to get people to dump their tokens?  And then there will be an event that's going to come really soon that requires people to use tokens...

Anything to make you spend resources, right?  Because the more you spend, the more chances WG has to separate you from real greenbacks...

Played a few more matches. Fps dips down to 35, which is still an improvement for me (went down to 20 last patch on certain maps) but I haven't been able to test all the maps.Strangely, I seem to get really good fps (60+) in training matches against bots.

Ok im not talking about all the equipment and consubables,I mean lots of my maxed out planes now have reserch and remoumt plane upgrades .Guns Engines Turrets was that supposed to happen i hope not have to grind them all out again

I am having same experience-I have over 100 aircraft, all with dismounted equipment. what do I have to do here? mount and sort thru everything that I have spent countless hours acquiring and researching to put in the right equipment. This update was a very serious mistake and will cost them players who do not have the time or ambition to do it all again. Why play at all if all of your accomplishments are going to be reset and you have to go back and put all of your equipment back in. I am disappointed in this last update and will have to spend more time in tanks or ships rather then experience the frustration of trying to sort things out in warplanes.  cobra_invader

Not happy having to re-buy equipment on aircraft that I've already purchased them on, unless I'm missing them being stored somewhere or have to click to regain spent credits? Bad patch!

Lost everything, and wasn't reembursed.NVM found the equipment, though its completely different now

 

further more the "new" equipment setup is too complicated and annoying

My planes still remain at whatever config I left them before the update hits...sans the equipments of course. No more rear gun range boost for GAAs that is not the NC 1070.

 

As for equipments...they are converted to this version's equivalents. Check your depot to confirm.

There's an exception: Specialist NC 1070. So is for the heavy fighter in the specialist SE 100, both of which can mount turret improvement. I guess they had to do that or they will go against EU laws that customers have to get what they had paid for...

 

I think RGS turned into turret gunsights, which serve to extend range.

There were some big changes in the update.  Normally when WG does this they refund the XP and credits to you.  If your having to unlock and or rebuy the modules again, check your XP and silver amount ans see if it's increased significantly since last time you logged in.  If it had then all you need to do is rebuy what was lost.

I feel like every plane in my hanger got nerfed. The 1,000+ battles I have in my Fw 190 A-5? Now my plane's performance is on the same level as someone with less than 50 battles. Why should I bother grinding to get my reflector gunsight to the same level of a 10% buff that it was before? 

By the nature of the content it is my impression that 2.0.5 was intended to get veteran players playing again with a, "oh look, something for me to grind!". Well it's having the exact opposite effect by making me not want to play the game even more now. 

That and camera and controls feel completely screwed with.
