After many irl situations keeping me from joining a Community Event, I finally got a chance to participate in one again. And this time I got to properly record most matches too! Still no chat audio though, maybe next time :sceptic::

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

you made me yell bad words at my monitor

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

Something we did on the latest Community Event was a queue drop. Basically a bunch of people hit the Battle button in hopes of being in the same match. We got split into what seemed like two battles, but in both Bomber Escort failed to deliver :bajan::

So another out-of-the-ordinary thing we did in the latest Community Event was playing on a very small map with planes that would otherwise never see it. The results were more than satisfactory, especially with me loling about on my Hs 129 B :playing::

So now that we ran on one of the smallest maps in the game with tier 5 planes, why not up the ante a bit and use tier 8 planes instead? The results were a very hectic fight where I often reached my targets long before I could even start capping them :

That shoot down made me mad.  I should have remembered that you know how to use that damn cannon.

EDIT:  Ooops, I meant the previous video.

I actually took you down with the 20s. Though earlier I did score a hit with the 37 :)

Exactly.  Blasted off half my HP.  Planning an attack on a skilled GAA pilot requires more than just bluster and hope.  I'll have to remember that in future community nights.

As a breather from the current shenanigans in the game, here's the last video on the latest Community Event. This time I decided to fly good old plane, the IL-2 (t). With the small map size of Sea Gate the plane performs quite well. It almost felt like an IL-8 or an IL-20, minus the reargun :P:

With a new community event, comes new features. This time, Voice Chat! I got to record the Discord voice chatter during the event. Hopefully things will remain civil and we won't have to many words that would give our dear chat bot a heart attack, right? :

Continuing with the community event, I got to "direct" my team! Well, more like give estimated guesses hoping things would work out. Surprisingly enough, while this map does not lend itself for regular gameplay that well, it's pretty respectable when teams cooperate :amazed::

As the event goes on, we are joined by other guests, some with a more... colorful vocabulary. I'd like to remind everyone here that whatever's said in these videos is not to be taken seriously at all :P:

Ladies and gentlemen, we have achieved maximum shenanigans. From here on out things get really... interesting. Talking nonesense, fancy flying, explosions, dogfighting, we've got everything! :

The last video on the latest Community Event. Overall it was another pretty fun time, and I can't wait to play on another one. With this I'll return to my hangar until the next time I get to pound some ground :honoring::

It frustrates me to no end to watch these videos.  I see you flying free, with very little opposition.  I mean, it's one thing to attack a GAA and get shot down because the pilot knows exactly how to wring the craft around to get rounds on target, but it's another thing entirely not to even TRY.  There is no shame in being shot down by a GAA pilot who specializes in doing the GAA thing.

But there is a bit of shame in losing a battle where you didn't even try and counter the human running around flipping cap after cap.  With a BSh-1 and the Hs-129, there is no rear gunner, so you don't even have to worry about the angles.  Don't tail-ride at the GAA's altitude, and you won't get bomb-killed, and use speed and/or turning to knock the thing down.  Especially with a slow GAA, the time spent on respawn timer and in transit is time they AREN'T FLIPPING CAPS, DANGIT!

Well, part of being a GAA involves being where the enemy is not, so if they want to hit you they'll have to go out of their way to do so. I specifically do that early in this video, where I notice the enemy going for our garrison, leaving the Command Center open for attack.

If they want to go defend it, they'll have to abandon their current objective of capturing the Garrison to deal with me, as well as ignore any allies trying to chase them down. And it's not like I'm never fired upon, I just try to avoid unwanted attention as much as possible :hiding:. The best moment to strike is when the enemy is completely focused elsewhere, so they won't notice another cap half-way across the map being flipped

All of the above might be an argument against hunting a human-flown GAA.  But my argument for is pretty simple:

WATCH THE VIDEOS.

Yes, you go out of your way.  Yes, you could be helping out elsewhere (doing what, exactly?  Who knows?)  Yes, there is no guarantee of success when you go hunting.

But having watched the videos, and having been on the other end of a bomber or GAA that carries a battle, finding and neutralizing that threat might actually be the way you help your team win.  And, as a sometime-GAA player myself, I know exactly how dangerous a GAA can be in the overall battle.
