This was the first premium plane I believe I ever bought. It flies like a pig and shoots the same. Is there a setup for this plane or is it wasting space in my hanger? It's frustrating almost each time I take it out for a flight.

The wildcat I feel got a raw deal.  In reality it wasn't as good as a zero, but still performed better then it does in game.   Not really sure of a way to play them they can't turn and burn very well nor can they do boom and zoom well.

eh, why sell a premium plane? keep it as a collection and let it rust in the corner. BTW, that was my first too :great:

It was my first premium as well!  I can't stand to fly it now, it really needs some love :(.  I'm holding on to it in hope of a buff.

This is the experimental form of the wildcat. You get the wildcat a tier earlier with less engine power and weaker guns. It's still a wildcat, so just like the tech tree version, it has a ton of hit points and can fly pretty fast (using the compare aircraft feature on WOWP's website is a good idea). It's pure boom and zoom energy fighting here. Rule #1 is never turn if there are enemies nearby. When you do reverse direction, it is easier to do an Immelmann or a split S than it is to do an actual turn. Zip through the edges of the cap (stay out of the center so it's easier to get back out of the cap) and prey on the weak and the slow. If you're thinking about skills and equipment, you should try to boost speed as much as possible. Other than speed, it might be a good idea to boost accuracy since you only have 4 guns and 2 of them are spread out on the wings. This plane is all about patience and sticking to its strengths (speed). As soon as you try to turn with somebody, you'll bleed off all your airspeed and become a sitting duck, so don't turn if you can help it.

1. You can head-on any LF and even some heavies. Do it. Lots of HP means ramming is a recommended tactic if the guns don't kill your enemy.

2. Never turn against fighters (against GA and HFs, you can). You will die. This plane bleeds a lot of speed in turns. Pick off enemies at the edge of furballs. Use your situational awareness to pick off distracted enemies if you can't get anyone at the edge who can't shoot back.

3. Powerful boost. Use it carefully.

This plane is like a low-alt heavy.

I run gunsight/engine tuning/lightweight airframe, marksman, and aero expert. I also use universal ammo.

If you're used to .50s, the guns feel a lot stronger than the stats suggest. It works well against GA, since the guns take a long time to overheat. I liked it.

Yep, it's a bit of a brick ... I now remember being glad when I finally grinded the F4F to the F4U.

Anyway, wanted some premium time again on EU server, so the plane came free.

Following Dru83's and f16falcona46's tips, I didn't do too bad ;-) Good plane to practice energy fighting, it punishes your mistakes immediately.

made the mistake of buying it this morning out of curiosity and instant regret. I've only sold 1 other premium plane in this game and that's the Japanese jet that's worthless after 2.0. I am going to probably sell this turd off as well and avoid buying any more crap from WG on this game.
