I was happy to finally be done with the Ki-61, it was a neat plane, but honestly I wasn't that impressed with its firepower. It did have that amazing turn radius though so at least it could fend for itself.

But then I got into the Ki-84...

It took 4 battles in a row for me to finally get taken down once in this plane in the 5th. I felt like a phantom. I would get kill after kill after kill, and yet hardly be touched, it seemed as if I was ignored until a bot or player realized I was on their tail.

It took me 8 battles to get the top armament fully installed, and have only been destroyed 5 times total, in only 2 of those battles IIRC.

I feel right at home in this plane, Its handling is smooth, sharp, concise, and its guns - especially with the 30's - are solid. I loved this plane with an all 20mm loadout, I took this plane into a Training room with the 30's and felt even more at home with it.

Thats not all, even without the top airframe or an upgraded engine, the speed and durability feels about right. I have managed with the 260 hit points, and while that may not be the best, with how I have played it so far I have managed its HP well, in those same 4 games I mentioned earlier, I vividly cannot recall going below at least 70-60%, I believe in one battle I managed to stay over 80% and still become one of the top scorers of the combat group.

Overall I love this plane. This will be one of the couple of tier 7's I have run through so far that I will have to either keep, or get back when I have room for it if i move on. So good news for my Bf 109Z when I finally get it back as a keeper, it wont be alone at tier 7. :playing:

The Ki-84 must've helped me out somewhere...can't quite remember where, though. It was in the Ki-84 that I played one of the last battles in 1.9 on my end.

I just like the Yak-3RD more...not that it helps that I've moved on to the Ki-94-II. May yours serve you well...but considering the EXP rates you'll be done with it before you know it.

Spoiler

...I got mine through the very first chance, smack dab in the midst of Japanese Invasion event (The very first event of its kind - it is the predecessor and in a sense, prototype to Albion - that served to introduce this line)...in other words, I got duped by early access and wasted a whole lot of tokens on it, but the plane itself didn't disappoint.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

The Ki-84 might be the strongest plane in that tier. It's built for this meta.

Ki-84 is pretty broken. It's almost like a t7 pancake in terms of how OP it is. Great guns, decent speed, amazing turning and stupidly powerful engine.

Yeah, I loved the Ki-61 so much, but after trying the ki-84, the 61 seemed pale in comparison. It's not the fastest plane or the highest flying, but between the high firepower and the quick turning ability, it's quite the killer. Areas with lots of light fighter defense planes are easy victims for a plane like this.

Frank is one of my favorite fighters in the game, I love how its actually an energy fighter in disguise; not too fast when level but that engine has plenty of grunt for climbing high and it dives pretty well.  I find it's balanced by its low health and bad cannon accuracy.  I run a full speed build as it helps close the distance to negate this disadvantage and allows you to almost play on an equal level with the "Triple M" club (mig, mustang, messer).

My only Gorovets Medal in pre-2.0 was with the Ki-84.  It's just a perfectly balanced aircraft for it's tier.
Fly crooked and shoot straight.

Ki 84 is balanced because of its low hit points and susceptibility to fire and critical damage. Plus, those 30s, although powerful, are harder to hit things with. I found that I didn't really like the plane that much as it was very inaccurate. Those 30s fire so wildly you can't hit anything close to max range. I am still keeping it and trying it again. But so far I haven't had any love for it.
