Hey all, currently finishing up on my Stuka (started off hellish, ended fun) & wondering if the Ju-88, as an experience, brings anything unique, satisfying, or integral to the German GA line. I’ve got an Me.410 in hangar, so I could always sidestep it... worth slogging through, or am I blinded by the allure of the flying wings?

It's been awhile since I played but I remember the cannon could one shot someone out of the sky but it had a slow fire rate.

The cannon can two shot people - it no longer insta-derps unless he's down to about two thirds of his HP already. Firepower-wise its about the same as the Stuka G except its got one long range derp rather than two smaller derps so you only have one shot to worry about. Overheats slower too.

I thought it was ok - it turned into a slog towards the end but I'm not much of a GAA player. LMG swears by it and I can see its allure. Lack of bombs does mean that its best at cleaning up ground targets rather than the big alpha of the ILs. Can't cap fast but the enemy cannot afford to leave you alone over their base because you'll burn it down sooner or later. Don't be fooled by the two gun mounts it upgrades to - essentially they act as a single HMG.

The Flying Wings are absolutely hilarious.

But a truce to this mournful story

For death is a distant friend

So here's to a life of glory

And a laurel to crown each end

The Ju-88P is pretty much the last German GA that tries to imitate the Soviets, beyond it you get the actual German GA line.

I wouldn't recommend skipping it however, it's a pretty fun plane to fly when you don't get assaulted by lots of enemies and though you can't flip caps instantly, you can delete most light fighters in a single shot (though usually you won't score a perfect hit and only take out 90% of their health.) Fun plane to use but don't grind it too hard, it's not one you want to play over and over, only in small bursts.

I remember the first time I one shot a guy.....it was like what just happened?

Like you said its fun for a few matches and depending on your aim that day it has it's good days and bad days.

I may start playing again.

The only thing missing off the junkers 87 is the jericho siren and I dont know if the 88 used it but I can see it giving ground troops a scare.

I think the competition has it.

The Ju 88 P is basically a better Ju 87 G. Everything's improved. If you liked one, you'll like the other. Otherwise, the Ju 88 P won't change your mind on cannon-only GAAs. I've been pondering whether both planes could use a slight damage buff to take down armored buildings in one less shot/volley

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

JU-88 in a nut-shell...

Pretty good against ground targets, tho lacking in ordnance the cannon is efficient... anti-air is more luck than anything else, unless you get -really- good at leading.

I don't want to hurt you... I just want to kill you!

I was tempted too skip it but I slogged through it and recently got myself an Me265 and now Im never looking back.  Loving the more hybrid style; no better way to humiliate spitfires than killing them with a GA.  Nobody expects to be bursted down by a close support plane flying at 1200m.

Yup,I think the ping and lag at the time had a lot to do if you got your shot in on target.

Good days or bad days depended on how good your connection was at the time.

Now i could be wrong but I think I could get both the 87 and 88 into a pretty freaking fast dive when BnZ was a rush.

I have barely played since the new version came out and it will be like learning the game again and thats what kept me from playing.

I'm used to this.

JU-88P is a bit unique with the top gun, it taught me to count shots. Armored target, 5 shots, move to the next one before it is destroyed. Because it will be. You can shoot from far out, and I learned discipline in taking out GT instead of just pew-pew until it goes boom.

So I do think there is value in playing it. Made me a better player

Learning the ju 88 is important to learning the tier 9, I wouldn’t skip. It’s a good plane, though I would recommend mounting the tail gun range mod(if you have the silver) to bring them from poor to atleast meh.

It will help you learn accuracy over spray and pray.  I say don't skip.
