At the suggestion of the denizens of this forum, I bought and have played the I-17

2* 20mm ShVAK.
It wouldn't be so bad if they were the longer ranged & better dps B-20s.
But after the wall that is the I-210 there is the dream which is the I-220 with 4*B-20 all close grouped on the cowling

This is the main one I've been grinding recently. I have no real problem with it except that the guns overheat when they even think about shooting.

I-210 is a decent tier 6 plane, with horrible tier 3 guns...
That said, it's not -really- that horrible... you just won't be able to pull yourself out of bad situations with firepower.

Its not fair to call them tier 3 guns, only T3s with 20mm are Germans & they have significantly inferior stats to the ShVAK.
They're among the best 20mm at T5, thats just not quite enough at T6. B-20s would be ok, maybe even just a dispersion buff on the ShVAKs.

OK, I took the challenge.
After all the bad press about the I-210 here, I bought one. Was easy to equip as it has the same engines and guns as the La-line that I already grinded.
And I have to say ; it's not a bad plane at all. Not the kind I normally fly, but it turns more or less OK and you can easily take it to 2500 meters to hunt bombers and heavies. Be a bit easy on the fire-button to not overheat, but I've had worse with the Jap planes. Also it has a very nice boost !
Had some good battles in it.
On to the I-220
