I just maxed the Stuka's armaments and - oh my it is an odd duck.

  • With the stock guns you can beat on soft ground targets and some aircraft.
  • With the upgraded guns, you can beat on hard ground targets and (if you get reeeeeely lucky) an occasional airplane.
  • ...and the rear gunner could be making obscene gestures at enemy aircraft and would be equally effective.

But it much less effective at all of the above job than its peers.

It really needs either 1 or 2 bombs (even with a long reload) or keep the stock guns WITH the upgraded guns.

Or is there a premium out there with stock guns and bombs?

I love the wing cannons but IMHO stock guns and bombs would make the aircraft better at its role, albeit much more vanilla.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

the wing pods carry guns with extreme range and slow overheat, but you're right, i'd love some bombs to go with it

with marksman pilot skills and the gunsight, it makes so much more money than the IL... i took a chance and mothballed the IL

but the rear gunner doesn't seem to do much...  maybe he's union

I think a lot of people have wondered at this. LMG swears by the 37mm pods, but I never liked the Stuka tbh. I do agree that keeping the stock 20mms + the pod mounted 37mms would make the plane a whole lot better (or even 7.92 + 37) but apparently the -87G Kanonevogel variants only had the 37 pods; no bombs, no secondary armaments.

What I DO want are the B/D variants with the 250kg centerline + 4x50kg outboards at tier 4 or such. I think that would be a great ground attacker but maybe they intended that to be a second Ground Attack line?

The biggest disappointment for me was the Hs129. No BK7.5? Booooooo

the G variant was a fav of mine in WT... i orbited over captured airfields and played goalie

lobbing dual 37s at anything that came near enough, you could even horse it around and dogfight in it

ah who knows... maybe this version is actually closer to how it really flew, none of us will ever know

No wonder, with a single 7.92 mm ... on tier V.

The Fw-57 (tier III) has a 20mm reargun, now that inflicts some real damage !

I think it was mentioned that a bomber stuka was a posibility. Makes me wonder if any divebombers will be labeled as bombers or GAAs

l have seen a dev reference a short while ago that the Stuka will be added in as a bomber version whether thats a addition or a change l don't know. They have the B and D models as obvious choices... ga or bomber maybe T-3 or 4.

5 bombs and fast reload maybe?

l could see the JU-87 D5 as a good choice it carried 2x20 mm cannons, 1x 500 lb and 4x 100 lb bombs.

The HS129 is great for attacking GAA but suffers as a GAA itself.  I think assigning a different key binding to each gun type would help, or the 50mm like the JU88P

I find the Ju87 can hold its own but it will never be the best GAA in its current state.  You need 4 or 5 hits with both guns to knock out a hard target and in cramped spaces, good luck with that.  I agree that a 250kg would be nice with an average cool down; not as long as a HF or MR.

The JU88P is a monster but needs better rear guns.  The worst thing that can happen with this plane is to get  a mountain map

Now if GAA can get protection from Bots, all will be good.

I highly suggest using the Hs 129 B with the bombs, otherwise you'd be running half-a-Stuka with no reargun (aka, no way to deal with enemies behind you) and worse maneuverability. I've been thinking about the state of the Ju 87 G and the Ju 88 P, and maybe they could use a bit of a damage buff to their guns, just enough so they can destroy Armored Buildings in less than 5 shots/volleys, which is the current standard for big long-range cannons. One less shot required could go a long way with these guys, especially with the relatively fast-firing german 50 :playing:

The developers said in one of their blogs we were going to get more Stuka versions in the future, and I think they said this year,, but nothing since then.

...and a siren.

I want a siren on my Stuka for anytime I go into a 40+ degree dive.

That's funny, it made me laugh. I like there example of how the word is used in a sentence... "The first union troglodytes built the pyramids. Engineers designed it to be a cube but, as each shift did a little less than the one before, the last said, 'let's just throw a couple of rocks up top and go have a beer.'"

Knowing WG, the stock airframe would have the siren on at all times. You'd have to get an upgraded airframe for the siren to only sound during steep dives :teethhappy:

That video makes me interested in the posibilities of a bomber stuka as a GAA more than our current definition of a bomber :playing:
