So I've been flying this big lug for the past few missions - it does well enough in Invasion both on the defensive and on the attack, but I do feel the plane is a little more...modest in comparison with its two predecessors the tier 8 B.V.210 and tier 9 B.V.212.03.

The tier 9 is a monster that's easily one of the most powerful tier 9s in the game. The tier 8 is also extremely dangerous but the tier 10... its an odd bird.

Its performance is middling - it isn't particularly fast and can be run down by just about any fighter, heavy or otherwise. Its twin 13mm tailguns are really inadequate for its tier and... I'm not sure what good they actually are without a maxed-out gunner. Its maneuverability is crap- its similar to the 262 at tier 8, with a better roll rate making it feel just that much more responsive. It can perform like an Me410 so it isn't overly cumbersome to maneuver but you aren't going to be out-turning people.

Its weapons are great but not unique - quad 20mm revolvers are the same as the tier X Messerschmitt P.1101 and the tier VIII Pancake American Heavy. They will shred anything in front of them but so will the quad 20s of most other tier Xs. Its main claim to fame are its massed R4M batteries - 56 rockets firing in seven salvos of 8 rockets apiece. This is great as, when coupled with the Expert Rocketeer and Demolition Expert pilot skills, the 215 can theoretically murder three tier X ground attackers in a single pass.

The problem is they also take about 110s to reload after being expended. Compared with the 32s of the 24 rocket arrays of the tier 8 and 9, this honestly feels too long and slow.  You have four other WGr.21s  to back this up but those are better for ground attack than shooting up airplanes.

Overall, I think this is a plane that suffers from being "just not quite good enough". It has a lot of potential but its buried by the overwhelming mediocrity of the overall package. If it was just a little faster, had better defensive firepower and had a faster reload on its 56 R4Ms, it would be a really memorable airplane but, as is, it just doesn't quite make it out of "meh".

What do people think of this beast? And what kind of kit do you equip it and its crew with? Any advice on how to fly this thing?

Those WGr-210s saved my maiden flight from defeat with a timely capture strike...and the rear gun I find surprisingly decent when manual-fired (can't use RGS though, what a pity).

...but these B&Vs are shadows of their former glory when the R4M nerf hit (before that, the entire blast does full damage which push it into the point of noobtube), although the 210 and 212 are still solid in this new world...the 215 not so much because it significantly departs from its predecessors in combat style.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

The tailgun is good enough against planes like the Sabre that can be kited for a good long time but the shell slingers have the range to shoot you while you shoot them. In particular, the Soviet Alekseyev MRs are proving a pain with their dual 57mm derps.

I was also getting my [edited]constantly kicked by a guy in a Me P.1101

The plane isn't bad, its just falls that frustratingly shy of greatness. If it packed 20mms instead of 13s in its tail, if it just shaved 20s off its rocket reload, if it just had that bit more speed and maneuverability...

I'm considering the Enhanced Sights for the rockets to see if I can push them just that bit further. They're already devastating with Rocketeer + Demolitions...

Ok, so with the advent of Patch 2.0.5, I took a second look at this monstrosity and... ugh. Somehow it feels even worse than it did before the patch. Maybe they've pumped up the penalties for having outboard ordnance but she feels even more ponderous than before, slower and with a tailgun that's just as weak as ever.

And they've locked all her outboard ordnance enhancements being the Specialist configuration.

I mean, are you serious? This thing's entire... thing... are its rockets and you won't even let me mod them until I've racked up 40000PP in air to air kills... in victorious games... in a great big slug of a machine that can neither outrun nor outmaneuver its opponents with a tailgunner that's little better than a tier 7 heavies'. Cripes, guys, I was hoping I'd be able to tun this thing around with some nice reload bonuses but...

Also, about those reload bonuses - that piece of equipment is going to be the single most expensive enhancement in the game because... my plane fires only rockets so having a better than 50% chance that at least ONE bonus characteristic will be wasted on a stupid Bomb bonus, I can see myself dismantling millions of silver worth of equipment before I can even think about making this plane useful.

Goddamit... at least give her 20mm revolvers for tailguns or something?
