So I have amassed 350k free xp, and have both tier 6 P38/F4.......and going to unlock the Squirrel..... but should I actually try the F7?

It seems like its in the wrong tree?

Its a decent HF.  I wouldn't waste the FreeXP on a plane personally.  The F2H performs similarly, just watch your energy with the F7F... and your surroundings.

I'd say the difference is night and day between the F7F and F2H...the F2H has both jet engine and improved 20mms while the F7F is still a prop plane with 50cals which starts to get inadequate in the tier.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The wing M3 cannons on the F7F could be used on the F4U-4 saving it from the MG stock grind and it's your earliest chance for HVAR Mk.25 which is widely used among T8+. I'd say try it before skipping. Silver is easy to come by, anyway.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...

I meant it performs similarly in its own tier, which is obviously upgraded from tier 7 to 9.  Similar play style though, comparatively the F7F is slower and more maneuverable than the other HF at its tier, and the F2h is about the same at its tier.

Much different than the pancake which is in its own world of speed maneuverability, altitude and stall.

Grind it. Suffering builds character.

In my opinion, F7F is the best USA heavy fighter. It has cannons AND machine guns, lots of rockets and a bomb. This is the best feature of F7F - the armament. Other USA heavy fighters either have weak armament - P-38, or only cannons on tier 8,9,10 - which heat up very fast.

F7F also has disadvantages - very big and not the best altitude (less than P-38).

British Mosquito has similar characteristics at tier 6, but with smaller machine guns. At tier 7 British Hornet only has cannons.

Well, looks like my clan-mate egikov already said what I was thinking of. The F7F is very similar to the British heavies. It's big and slow, but has powerful guns and ordnance. It's plenty fun to fly, you just have to be careful to play it the right way. Keep your speed up and don't turn ever unless the enemy is a good distance away. With the ordnance on it, you can flip caps faster by combining shooting down planes with destroying ground targets. After you get 2-3 air kills and the meter is close to full, you can easily use the bomb and rockets to finish capping quickly. Save your free xp for quickly getting upgrades so you don't have to suffer through flying around with weak guns and engines.

I actually enjoy the F7F, I kept it after I unlocked the pancake :).  To me if feels like a higher tier P-38.

Honestly, F7F is the highest HP heavy fighter (I think) at tier 7. I personally liked it for going after bomber flights and attackers. What I’ve fely, when grinding American heavies, is that the ones I dislike, I enjoy by the time I got through them.

I played it for about halfway through, and Free XP'd out of it cause I couldn't stand it.

Whats so bad about it?

I didn't much like the P-38J so I've been kinda looking forward to it with those 4* 20mm giving it decent firepower & range but I'm still pretty putoff by the J.

I gather its very mediocre in all respects. It's the slowest of the heavies and will get caught by most light fighters it will face, it lacks the sheer firepower and ceiling of the Zwilling and its max altitude is low enough for most light fighters to comfortably reach it. I figure it'll be like a 190; you'll be burning plenty of boost to escape dicey situations. My cousin free xp'd past it

I'm not a fan, some people like it, but you'll need the free xp to get the guns on the pancake.

This.  The flying tuna is fun when grinding, but now that I've got Pancake, the F7F is -never- used anymore. It's a trophy plane in the garage now lol.

You can do well in it.  Just don't use it as a turner and plan your exit routes.

i tried like hell to run the J like it's supposed to be flown... but got a couple of decent battles sandwiched inside two long craploads of low production losses

un-mothballed the F, and with the high-skilled J pilot... i'm getting done in the F what i hoped to see from the J

def a favorite when i devote a day's sessions to boomzoomers, which was supposed to be weekly but lately has been at least twice or even three times a week now

because i'm having fun in them, for the first time ever

**update**

Pancake purchased, fully outfitted.... and F7F was sent to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base to be scrapped...what a heap.      ( I really did give it the "ole collage try")

I really have no idea, why the F7F is even in this line?

having a blast in the squirrel now  :)

I also did not really enjoy that plane. It was not terrible to me but I never felt like I had a huge impact on the battle. I was also still getting the hang of bnz and found myself trying to turn way too often. Hope you enjoy the pancake stock is mediocre but upgraded that plane is a madman
