I would love a chance to fly a prospective plane in a training room, WG


I would gladly pay gold for the opportunity, and I would bet that others would too


Rental price refunded upon purchase, maybe?

Testbed it on NA and see if it doesn't make you guys some extra holiday cash?

You should see how many versions of that sentence I wrote trying to figure out to really ham it up or to avoid any double entendre :hiding:

Anyway, I've hopped on that offer now.

...And then lost my first 2 battles lol.

 

Its kinda shocking how much performance falls off with non-specialist even though my existing Chinese pilot has both Engine Gurus & Aerodynamics Expert + I poached most of the Ultimate equipment off the D.

yeah, I specialized my P51K before I unlocked my P51H.  Now I am flying the 51D, and it...painful compared to my tricked out K, which isn't all that either.

Doing some proofreading as I've been noticing some errors/grammatical nonsense.

 

I have also gotten my hands on the P-80A and Fw-190 A-8 so I should have reviews of them up this month.

 

Initial impressions however:

P-80A is a really nice plane, it's a P-51H that trades altitude for the whole everything else bit.

Fw-190 A-8/R2 is... surprisingly not completely awful? This might be due to my experience with the 190 A-5 carrying me but I've enjoyed it for the most part, at least until I have to fight specialized tier 8's. Doesn't seem like a very good plane though.


I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*

I'm also an A-5 driver and I hate the A-8 x.x

 

I just don't see why you'd choose it over the Dora apart from credit grinding potential

I've never been productive in the Vampire, but I'm going to give it more stick time now, based on your review


same and same with the Horten...  I'm afraid that I have a mental block that I need to overcome somehow


I'm printing out your triple-expert opinions and will reread them before flying each plane until I've memorized them


VB 10 is still a must-fly for me each session, high confidence factor for me     don't know why that works, for my skill level

Edit:  after looking at my vb10 stats for the first time...   I have zero reasons for loving that plane any more than others


Does anyone else have any 'shouldn't-be-fun-to-fly-but-it-is' planes in your hangar?     

I'm still having tons of fun in the Tu-1 super-sniper, and I'm not a sniper at all

I wouldn't necessarily call it the most powerful T8 but Vampire is a really really good plane.

And its free.

And its a T8 Premium so it makes absolutely bucketloads of Silver.

The Vampire is REALLY good.  But I still prefer my Do-335.

Vampires absolutely give me fits.  If it's not the most powerful T8, it's up there pretty high on the list.

I like the Tomahawk IIB very much. It's just a bad tier 5 P-40 with tier 4 guns but I love it when I am underestimated while flying it.   :)

 

Plus it's the only P-40 in the game with the correct AVG shark's mouth.

I have my Tomahawk IIb specialized, it's alright. 

 

I'm pretty unhappy with what they did with the American lines though.  The Curtiss line should be low altitude turn fighters with the hawk 81s (P40 A-C) at T5 and the Allison hawk 87's at T6 (D-N) and the XP40Q at T7.  The P51 should branch off the Hawk 87s and become the high altitiude planes they are when they get the Merlins.  I'd change up the USN line too, there's a lot of cool stuff they could have done and just didn't.

Added P-80A and IL-1 reviews (oh yeah I bought this thing last week by the way.)

 

Fw-190 A-8 is coming along slowly, I'm trying to specialize it but it's quite a taxing plane to fly but I'm still on track to have it done before December arrives... I think.

Fat Spitfire would probably be a more accurate way to put it. Just sitting around a cap or two waiting for people to fly anywhere near you.

 

Makes the IL-1 horrendously bad on bigger maps like Cold Peak though, honestly tempted to just Alt + F4 at times when I see Cold Peak and I'm in my IL-1.

Specialized Fw-190 A-8/R2 and as such have written a review/guide on it. Only took one more day rather than almost two weeks, hooray, it's finally over.

 

To summarize: you have the firepower to kill things, but barely any performance to make use of that firepower. Effectively a tier 6 plane in tier 7, so have fun fighting tier 8's.

I'm busy specializing the IL-1 at the moment. People see an IL and think, ah a slow, clumsy GA ... surprise !!

Alright, just to give an update:

 

As of Monday when the Fall Campaign rewards were distributed I got the P-39N-1, now, while just about everybody knows everything about this plane, it's still new to me and I'm working on getting a good feel for it currently.

 

So... P-39N-1 guide/review thingy coming Soon™! (I don't actually know when I'll do a write-up for it as I have a somewhat busy December ahead of me)
