Oh, and her credit earning is unreal.  I got 358,000 once on a loss.  Just wow.

The credits per flight are eye-popping. The plane might be worth it if only as a credit-farmer.  I never load consumables on any plane, nor do I run universal ammo on all guns of any plane.

Except the Arrow.

Tier VIII Shenyang JL-1A-37

Full Price: 12500 Gold

Skill Level: Proficient

Availability: Rare

Flies like: P-51K

Fights like:  Bf109G

Recommended Playstyle: BnZ

Appropriate to Nation: N/A

Pros:

  • Colossal Alpha : Tier X guns on a Tier VIII plane
  • Well-balanced performance : she can outrun anything that can out-turn her and out-turn anything that can outrun her.
  • High base speed means she can react to situations on the map better than most fighters

Cons:

  • If she meets anything at tier 9, she's toast: getting downtiered in this plane is a nightmare.
  • Guns overheat instantly and take an age to cool down. Trigger discipline is essential and she struggles to deal with GAAs.
  • 23/37 weapons config makes efficient shooting difficult at long ranges or at high deflection angles.

Average Credits Earned: 200,000 (with repair and rearmament costs deducted)

Average Cost of Repairs/Rearmament: 54,000

Recommended Equipment and Cost: Lightweight Airframe, Control Surface Adjustment, Engine Tuning

Recommend Consumables and Cost: Pneumatic Restarter, Reinforced Controls, Fire Extinguisher

Quesnel requested that we try to keep them in tier order, so the top few planes are supposed to be tier 8 and it stalled out over people's reluctance to review the IL-10M... apparently the fact that the IL-10M is a dangerous dogfighter is a state secret :P

I suppose we should just carry on - I'll review the P-51K in a few days.

I have a fair amount of experience with different XFL-1 builds, will do that whenever the thread reaches middle tier.

North American P-51K Mustang

Fighter / China / Tier 7

6000 Gold

Skill Level: Moderate

Availability: Common

Flies like: P51D Mustang

Fights like: P51D Mustang

Recommended Playstyle: Flexible

Appropriate to Nation: N/A

Pros:

  • Fast, with a very powerful engine and excellent energy retention in climbs and turns
  • Machine guns easy to aim and effectively never overheat; you can still do significant damage with an injured pilot.
  • Excellent altitude for a fighter
  • Flies like an improved P-51D; if you enjoy that plane, you'll love this one

Cons:

  • Poor range and alpha on guns and the plane's modest maneuverability will hurt your DPS
  • Doesn't turn very well in the horizontal.
  • Flies like an improved P-51D; if you don't enjoy that plane, this one ain't gonna change your mind.

Average Credits Earned: approx 130000 after full expenses

Average Cost of Repairs/Rearmament: 25000

Recommended Equipment and Cost:  Engine tuning, Lightweight Airframe, Control Surface Adjustment

Tier VIII: XP-58 Chain Lightning

Skill Level: Expert

Availability: Uncommon

Flies like: P-38F Lightning (with 37mm cannon)

Fights like: Me 262/XF5U

Recommended Playstyle: BnZ (flex against enemy HF's)

Appropriate to Nation: In-between, relies too heavily on opinon.

Pros: Hilarious DPS/per shot damage, granting the ability to one-shot enemy fighters

45 seconds of boost with Pancake moonclimb capability allowing you to climb up to 3km's while losing next to no speed

Gunners to protect you/finish off targets after a pass

Extremely high healthpool for an HF, can take a sizable amount of damage

Good turn time for an HF, will often win against everything but the XF5U

Cons: Low RoF/Short-Ranged/Inconsistent guns, there is no easy way to guess lead as the same lead can produce two vastly different results

Low top speed however this is offset by the monstrous boost and energy retention

Gunners are starting to become somewhat ineffective at tier 8

Average Credits Earned: 200-500k after servicing (from bad match to good match)

Average Cost of Repairs/Rearmament: Running universal belts: ~50-70k

Recommended Equipment and Cost: Reinforced Airframe, Improved covering, Gunsight (~1-1.5M credits)

Recommend Consumables and Cost: Manual Fire Extinguisher, Dressing Kit, Pneumatic Restarter (~10k credits)

I forget precise credit costs because I usually don't worry too much about them myself. But the XP-58 is a pretty hilarious aircraft to fly, arguably overpowered when used correctly. It takes a lot of practice to use it right but once you learn it... it's one of the most fearsome tier 8 aircraft out there.

I'm curious how the RB-17 and IL-10M (still not doing the IL-10M review myself) reviews will be handled, because most people who I see use them don't know how to maximize their potential. I might be able to write up the RB-17 despite me not owning it because of the absolute absurdity I've seen come from it when used by a few of  my mates. But, for now, I forgot to do the write-up on the Chain Lightning so I figured I'd do it now that there's actually a bit more attention being given to this thread again. One thing I can give as a bit of advice, don't buy tier 8 premiums willy-nilly, they don't come cheap and very few of them are easy to handle without some serious experience as a pilot.

I don't think the Chain Lightning is "common" in availability :P I'd have pegged it as a rare since it only seems to come out on special offers. Maybe "uncommon" since I've seen it on sale more often than the Shenyang, but definitely not "common" which I think should be reserved fro planes actually in the Premium shop.

I put common because I'm pretty sure it's still available in-game for gold. So I guess common would be reserved for prem shop + in-game purchase? Still, revised to be "Uncommon" due to the availability of it however you have to do a bit of digging to find it.

To show my point...

Huh. Ok. Nevermind then - I never noticed it in-game because I'm an idiot >.>;

Fair point about it being common.

Maybe you need more practice, the Eagle is like the ultimate HF bullying machine, turns on equal terms with the pancake and steers well when other heavies controls start to lock up in a drag race.  Hard not to find it fun in my opinion, say what you will about the guns but I think the 10 50cal bullet tornado it creates is hilarious.

oh i def need more practice in it...  it's just forcing myself to fly it is the problem

there are so many fun and fun-ish planes in my hangar already, so the Eagle is now mothballed at AMARC

Hi All, Im fairly new to posting in the forums,

I love my Japanese planes and I gotta have them all so when the Ki-94-I appeared in the store I scooped it up...

Aside from the Atrocious maneuvering of this plane I love the guns and most of the rest of it... I was hoping that someone here could suggest some equipment / pilot skills for this plane.

Hmm, I don't have the Ki-94-I myself and everybody that I know who owns it doesn't talk about it all that much, all's what I can do is give meager assumptions off what little I've seen.

I would recommend: gunsight, engine tuning, and reinforced airframe. That way your guns will be a bit more accurate, your engine a bit more powerful, and you won't get critted to death as much (and have more health to boot!)

For pilot skills: either gun straight for Marksman 2, or Engine Guru 2, the former will make your guns hit more and be more consistent, the other will make your engine even more powerful and help you get out of bad situations faster.

As I said, I don't have much experience with or against the Ki-94-I so I can only make more general assumptions about what you should do with it, they may not work but it's hard to go wrong with them on other heavy fighters.

I'll give that a spin now that I think of it you defiantly want the guns on this thing to be as accurate as possible...

Additional info regarding XP-58:
It looks like a P-38. It Flys like a P-38. but it isnt as fast (for its tier) as a P-38. and some joker has mounted the 4x .50's facing backwards ... :sceptic:

Requires a 5-6 point crew and Advanced gear to go from comically Troll   to murderously effective. :great:

Spoiler

As for equipment I prefer
Advanced Long Gun Barrels + Advanced Gyroscopic Gunsight:

Lightweight wing Frame and Lightweight Engine for Agility.

As for that second engine slot ...
