I like this patch, however did someone put a banging-on-metal sound in to the hangars? Both of them even? I can't remember them ever being there before, and it does my head in. Not quite like the winch from the hangar a while back but still bouncing around inside my head. lol.

I've seen a couple of subterranean aircraft this patch.  How do I get it so my planes can also fly underground through mountains?   Is that a perk or a piece of equipment?

First off, I have not gotten ANY new maps or ANY new game modes. So I can't even vote on those. 

That being said. wthdid this patch do except make bots even WORSE?

Alright, so Invasion is... weird. Attackers seem severely handicapped in the air battle, which on equal terms means they'll most likely lose. The Defenders having less respawns doesn't really balance it out unless the Attackers can out-perform them on a numerical disadvantage, which doesn't really happens unless one-too-many players derp out. I've even ended up clearing the tail of most of my allied bot GAAs while on my own GAAs just to keep someone alive, which doesn't really allow me to focus on the ground pounding to get the job done faster. However, it's not impossible to win on the Attacking team, as I've won my fair share of games. It's just a roll of the dice most of the time. So far I've only really been able to snatch a win after most of our aerial combatants have fallen once, and that's thanks to a ramming kill on the last sector standing

 

I think the main problem boils down that it's a game mode focused on team play, on a WG product. Everyone wants everyone else to coordinate with their plan, making teamwork rare and often ineffective. Limited respawns and suicide rushing bots don't help :(

I'd like it if we could still complete the daily missions. Is conquest mode completely disabled, or just disabled if you want to do Westfall?

The Problem with Operation Westwall is not the maps, not the BOTS, but the matchmaker.

I played for 6 hours from tier 4 - 8 and in each and EVERY match I was the minority in the lower tier.

I'm not talking like 7 higher to 5 lowers, I'm not talking 6 to 6.  I'm talking like 8 to 4 and 9 to 3!

Are KIDDING me?

Real fair play like the lower tiers have a chance!

And not ONCE not ONCE was I ever in the majority.

Sorry but Westwall is a failure and will no longer be wasting my time.

I may return in 62 hours.

BTW I am speaking for all my friends about 12 that are also playing this failed attempt "operation!"

What minority? The game only makes matches with at most one-tier of difference. Aside of that I think it's alphabetical/high-score & chevrons ordering

Congrats, WG, on making an event even worse than the Skies of Albion. Invasion is so imbalanced and so unfun with its limited spawns and timers. To make matters worse, the patch cut my frame rates in half. The game runs WORSE now. I will not be playing this game again for a while, if ever. I'm so disappointed.

I'm actually enjoying Invasion. Its a nice change of pace and the large numbers of humans on each team (at least on lower tiers) makes it entertaining as well. I do question the balance a little since the Defenders appear favored to win so long as no one does anything blindingly stupid (like charge out and start engaging deathballs out of the defensive zone). I think the bots just work better on the defensive team.

 

Also, I got my face stomped SO hard in my Do217M... its refreshing :P for the first time I'm actually being seriously challenged up high. Do bombers get a higher altitude spawn as well? Feels like it.

 

I can see how being the Attacker can be mind-blowingly frustrating given how the bots work. Hats off to LMG and the other ground-pounders for sticking through it. My sole sortie in my Dornier was an exercise in futility. I capped one point then got crapon by a swarm of heavies. And that's about it. I spent the rest of the match dodging heavies and generally doing f* all. I don't know how you guys do it, so...:honoring:

 

So far my only gripe is the difficulty of the Additional (Expert?) Missions and how it isn't made clear right off the bat that you need to accomplish ALL those secondaries to unlock your reward fighter. I mean, the difficulty is fair enough, but it should have been made very clear right at the start of the quest that you had to complete ALL Primary and Secondary objectives to unlock the Pfeil.

Spawn height is indeed based off aircraft type. Also, now you know why I dislike playing Bombers; even the A-26B has fallen from grace lately :(

I don't like the reintroduction of the 99 error that was first introduced in Albion.  Makes it impossible to play.

Camera

  • Added option of zooming in and out for free camera mode (enabled via right-click) and for Spectator mode after the aircraft is destroyed 

This doesn’t work until after the battle countdown ends/match starts.  We used to be able to free camera and zoom during the countdown.  Wot and wows let you do this still, I believe.  Minor, but desired function.

 

Kudos for keeping the moving pilot heads in aircraft that have them still..now can you get them to blink and wave their arms?  hehe

this game to needs to reward a good player more ,  instead of penalize us because we are on a shitforbrains team. In short,  this game should make me wanna play it, not simply turn off my computer .  Also, bombers don't defend anything, and fighters don't attack anything, whoevers idea that was is simply schtupid.  My computer is now off, and I wont be paying to be penalized by non stop [edited]teams and losses, even if I shoot down 16 players, shitgame, not wasting my time.

So I got to play on the Defense side for the first time on my Tornado (btw, you can end up on Defense with ordnance equipped), and I have to say I'm surprised at how much of a disadvantage Attackers are when bots get involved. Every single thing wrong with the bots shows up when they're on the Attacking side; predictable nature, lemming mentality and ground pound inefficiency. The one issue they don't get stuck with is the new one that I call Acrophobia, where a fighter flying high is chasing a GAA flying low, but is unable to perform a dive maneuver to properly engage, and instead opts to just work like a beacon on where the GAA is. They seem to have a maximum engagement range of around 1600-1700 meters, after which they'll just escort you around :amazed:

Invasion is pretty bad. But it could be good. 

 

It favors the defenders in a completely unfair way. They have every single advantage and can keep that advantage incredibly easily. 

I have no ideas on how to improve the balance of the mode, but its ridiculous how easy it is for defenders to win.

Please, could we pilots have better briefings?

Give more detail about Modes Invasion and Attrition. What is supposed to be accomplished?

Define better, Defensive and Offensive.

Define what the targets are. ie what is the circle with the squares in it?

Why is my team split into different areas on the map.

Otherwise, I'm playing tier 1 - 3

They have videos in-game explaining the new modes and those should have prompted you to view them as soon as you logged in. There are also descriptions posted on the site. I thought it was fairly intuitive TBH. https://worldofwarpl...omber-catchers/

 

Invasion: 

One team defends and the other attacks. The Attacker has to capture all capture points before time runs out. The Defender has to hold at least one capture point until time runs out.

 

You cannot recapture points.

 

Only the Attacking team spawns with Ground Attack Aircraft and Bombers.  

 

Attackers have 20 respawns, the Defenders have 10 respawns. Once your team runs out of respawns, death is permanent. 

 

Circle with the little brick icons are Strongholds - exceptionally heavily fortified and defended structures. They have no Automated Defense Fighters but loads of Flak. The other targets are the same as in Conquest mode. 

 

Attrition:

Both teams fight to whittle down each others' Respawn points by shooting each other down. Attacking ground targets increases the modifier for air-to-air kills making each kill worth more. First one to run out of planes to respawn wins. More details you gotta wait until the mode launches - or watch the in-game tutorial video.

This game has got steadily worse since update 2.0. It used to be a great game and now it is just a choppy/erratic arcade piece of crap!
