ive cross-posted this, i'm sorry...  but would those kind people consider this, and add your normal gaming times and timezones below?

you will be repaid by retaining new folks in human battles, and the warm feeling of helping someone new

from orig post  ------------------------------------

i'm shocked, and then ashamed to find out that there's no tutorial anywhere

how in the world did they imagine that they could retain new players that have no flight training?

i'm no expert, but i'll volunteer to help new folks get the basics of flight combat, and the very somewhat convoluted map capping tips and strategies

if you fly midday EST from maybe 10am - 2pm weekdays, i'll gladly flight up if you have a headset

typing would be ridiculously ridiculous...  frankly, sometimes even spoken words are too slow if you're concentrating on something

hangar chat doesn't work... hasn't for a while, so prearrange it via PMs      just a thought, wouldn't it be nice to see chat working again?

i'm sure that other vets will volunteer at other times/days, because it's an oasis of civility here in the NA wowp forums!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

think about it...

and think about getting another buddy to also flight up with a new guy, too and count in, and talk trash to each other while showing a new guy the ropes!

A lot more rookies would get offers to "flight up" if we had the WG standard three man groups returned to the game.

This would allow two experienced players to take a third under their wing and shepherd them through battles while demonstrating how to fly.

Trikke, I like your thinking and I agree the game could use an actual tutorial in addition to the videos.

I'll throw my name in the list. Usually good to fly...

Weekdays from 8pm-10pm EST

Weekends early morning 6am-8am or evenings 8pm-12pm EST

Weekdays, 2100-0000 Eastern Time.  Since the players are new, T1 or T2.  Let's go club some seals!

If they'd ask, I would do it.  Problem is I've had too much going in tanks to play this regularly...

If Training Rooms didn't use up consumables I think we could make proper "Training Rooms" where people can come in to try out or teach others different aspects of the game. I'd like to do some testing on ground target health with different types of ordnance, but the costs of the test runs will eventually start to pile up :sceptic:

It would also help if we had, you know, a functional chat system. I understand that it's pretty revolutionary technology, but surely we can trust in our great Wargaming overlords to correctly implement such a wondrous thing, yes?

Oh wait, we can't.

thank you, guys

i'm excited to get my first request, but folks have probably already peeked at my stats...  "I'll pass"

what's the most helpful way to do these 'lessons'?   fly behind, so that you can see what they're seeing?

i'm having trouble remembering what was really mysterious when i was new...  probably mostly capping strategies?   bot tendencies?   plane strengths and weaknesses?

Things I had no clue about starting out:

1. I just bombed that AA gun. Why am I not getting credit or cap points for it? Answer: KILL THE WHOLE TARGET YOU NOOB.

2. How do I get my plane repaired at the airbase?

3. What do you mean "you can respawn at airfield/airbase"? How?

4. What's the difference between dots, squares, triangles and... houses... for ground targets?

5. I can kill people with bombs? AHAHAHAHA

6. What's the significance of the yellow altitude?/Why can't my plane reach that bomber?

7. I can swap to my tailgunner?

8. I HAVE A ZERO ON MY TAIL HOW DO I GET IT OFF

9. This plane is crap! It can't turn worth a damn.

I remember these days.

Only, for me, it was years ago.  There were no respawns, so the time it took to learn the most basic stuff was extended by about ten times.

except then, it was easier and more interesting to ride along in death cam with a good pilot to see what they do from their plane's perspective.

Also, since ie won't allow multi-quotes with this garbage forum software, I couldn't quote it, but 1000% agree with your previous comment about the benefits of 3 man "training flights". It allows the experienced pilots to not feel hamstrung, by guaranteeing they can work together with a noob along. Also, it allows that newer player to see how players can use teamwork to bait, clear, etc.

I would not be opposed to helping a new pilot. I am fairly new (still under 1k matches) but have a decent handle on the game, what to cap, who to pick a fight with (unless they are on the top 25 list then I feel obligated to test my skills... ;) doesn't usually fair too well for me)

Never had it been down for over 10 days straight...still down as of this post. New players simply can't ask for help...

The only good thing I can think of...is no post-match flaming...

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

Mostly, if you shoot the same guy down more than once, you might get griped at later.

well stop being an internet bully then. Just because you can shoot him down doesn't mean that you have to... your enjoyment is obviously less important than his! :sarcasm:
