F-22 is not sold to any allies...don't expect to buy it

True J-20 is far from combat-ready state, just like T-50 in its current state,

and they could even share the same engines.

Put aside that, French made their own Rafale, and though someone might

think Rafale is inferior to Typhoon, at least they made it themselves. French

quit the Typhoon project cuz they want to use their own engines, and they want to

produce their people's fighter on their own. French is weaker in engine development

compared to the British, and Snecma M-88 is a ripoff compared to the highly

advanced Rolls Royce EJ-200, but do they have something to be proud of?

Of course they have. They made their own fighters, without external support

from any allies.

Now let's be back to the topic, Chinese are already ahead of Russian in avionics,

flight control and radar. And what they lack is capable enough engines that could be

produced in large scale to power the 5th generation fighter. From what I know they've

already gained the tech to produce AL-31F, and they produced several engines that

could power the J-20 in labs, somewhat can't be produced in large scale. They could

either import AL-41F from russia, cuz there is a contract about importing Su-35 along

with the engines. Or they could keep developing the not so reliable WS-18. They never

said J-20 is in combat-ready state, at least not now. Still no reason to be shamed of, any

5th-generation fighter project will cost more than 100 billion dollars. Hundreds of experts that

used to work in Russia now migrated to China, and China is assimilating the lost tech from

old Soviet Union to benefit their domestic jet engine industry.
