Edit: Noticed that we do have a pilot survivability skill, but sadly it costs 2 skill points.
I tried it with my pair of Mustang line pilots the past couple weeks, and on fighters it seems to be an absolute waste of two skill points.
I couldn't even tell y'all how many pilot hits I'm taking per game, at least three minimum if not a couple or more per sortie, and I doubt anyone would believe me if I started keeping track of them.
- run into (1 to 3) reds I can't speed or climb away from, pilot critical.
- encountering a better player, whether or not they're in a better plane, pilot critical.
- need to capture and slow the superiority count because the team is behind, pilot critical.
- bot heavy makes a pass, inflicting less than perhaps (15) points of damage, pilot critical.
- being chased by a bot plane I should be able to outmaneuver but cannot shake, pilot critical.
- starting a dogfight with one or two equivalent planes that are wrecking the friendlies, pilot critical.
- try to solo capture most any type of area because the bots didn't come with or won't go, pilot critical.
- etc etc etc etc etc...... I can maybe buy the amount of overall critical hits, because planes taking cannon fire, but the timing & circumstances of many (especially the pilot hits) seems very questionable far too often.
Planes is probably great for new folks getting to try it out without being curbstomped, or working well for those who always flight and are good enough to usually win, but for average'ish folks like me I find it kind of sucks.
I dunno what to do anymore as like with Warships I just cannot catch a break on the ''randomness'' being in my favor more than maybe one battle out of four if not more like five plus.
It's stupid, bad game design, and not any fun; causing half as much damage to earn half or less of the potential rewards for two or more times the amount of effort than others at my level is getting seriously old.
