This weekend is theirs with the March of Nations, but wondering what others put on their planes for skills and equipment. 


I'm only up to level 7 (Ki-84, A7M), but seems to me they're buddy can you spare a dime to turn on brilliant but fragile, so Improved Covering seems good for 1 slot we might all agree on (-20% chance of critical damage to wings and tail, +5% to HP pool).


With 2 left, wondering how many pilots use a Self-Sealing Fuel Tank (50% reduction in chance of fire and damage caused by fire), or rely on pilot skills- Fire Resistance (20% reduction in fire duration and damage) and/or Fire Fighter (extinguishes fire by active maneuvering).


For now, I'm using the above 2 (Improved Covering, Self-Sealing Fuel Tank) and Improved Optical Sights, along with Marksman I skill, but am interested in others thoughts on this and/or what they use.

It is usually better to amplify a strength than to mitigate a weakness, in part because you'll get more value out of percentage-based equipment if you do that.  Think also about how gear and pilot skills complement each other.  As you gain pilot skills, you will probably find value in reconsidering your initial gear choices.

5% HP won't save you from a stream of cannon shells coming your way...

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...

LoL- no, but a 20% lower chance of critical damage to wings and tails on a plane that kind of needs both intact more than most might...

Get lightweight airframe. The increased roll rate is noticeable, and will help you with evades. The 2 lines are worlds apart in altitude performance. KIs tend to do better at higher altitude, while the a7m and J7 series don't. Again wouldn't be bad idea to experiment durable options with the multirole side of things with Japan. It's understandable why you would lean towards improved covering for planes like the A7M or the A6ms or J7ws. They're really easy to shoot down in 2.0 and don't have alot of hp pool or armor to begin with. Best advice I can give - boost its dodging capabilities, whilst adding some skills that will help against criticals and pilot injury.


You can spec the kis for speed and agility, as they are more capable in a dogfight than the zeros. And they do suffer from the same low hp low armor issue.

My philosophy when it comes to equipping fighters/multiroles is to enhance strengths rather than attempting to cover up any weaknesses. The stat boosts that equipment provide do not completely cancel out any inherent disadvantage your plane has so you may as well give yourself an edge over other aircraft of your type.  If your aircraft is TnB, add all the maneuverability equipment you can afford.  If it is BnZ, add equipment that enhances speed and acceleration.

Improved airframe and covering for the first two, and the third can be your pick of engine tuning, gunsight, or self-sealing tank.

I run maneuverability and accuracy on all my turn fighters. They cant take a hit nothing you do will change that. So you attempt to make it harder to hit. And make it more deadly while turning. Those are my thoughts. If you get jumped and hit in the wings you are pretty much gone anyhow.o
