I got in a pretty epic duel with a player tonight and got totally shot down and our team lost.  After the battle I complimented him on his flying skills and he added me to his contacts and asked me to flight up.  We flew as a flight and we both cleaned up side by side!  Unfortunately I had to run after the win but we plan on flying more this weekend.  There are good, decent people out there: a little kindness goes a long way!

I had an interesting moment of partnership where I was being chased by a Hurricane II on a heavily beaten Tornado. I noticed a friendly heavy coming on on his six, so I turned around for a head-on duel. The heavy was able to beat up the Hurricane enough for me to finish it off before I got shot down. I then noticed the heavy also had someone on his six, so I relocated and cleared his tail. I'm still not sure if he truly wanted me to help him out as thanks for his assistance, or if he just so happened to be very focused on that Hurricane II, but it worked either way :great:

This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

Have you ever had someone after the game PM you on your good flying?

And how did it make you feel to be noticed and recognized as good?

I fly tier 7 and below to complete daily missions for tokens every day.

I also give complements to pilots who do 8k CP and up in lower tiers.

I have gotten many thank you, and a lot of new friends in game.

To truly enjoy this game, say hello, make friends, and flight up.

I'd report you except I'd likely get in trouble for spamming the report button

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

I often do both of these.

The first usually results in a "thanks, you too!" and sometimes offers to group up.  Mainly, it's a relief to get another human or 2 on the team who actually want to win and are using their aircraft in such a way as to accomplish that.  So, I like to say "thanks" when I see it.

:great:

The second...usually involves suggesting that the guy in the spitfire NOT strafe ground targets with it if he'd like win, earn experience points, earn credits, not get shot down 4 times, etc.   :child:

Sometimes these conversations are less friendly than the first type.

If I do end up in an actual duel with somebody, I will usually congratulate them on nice flying afterwards, regardless of who won the encounter.  This is pretty rare though as  1 v1 situations don't happen all that often, usually somebody else comes by and spoils it.

I do this all the time....  When chat works, that is!

You can have some pretty good chats with folks just for simply expressing "Well played.  <o"

I always try to give a "gk" (good kill) when shot down, "gf" (good fight when I get them), and a "gg" afterwards. Just the polite thing to do. Not good enough to give tips though.... Yet :)
