I have a problem: I'm in the B17-D and to get the specialist unlocks, i need to destroy 12 airplanes with turrets.  Problem is, aside from the stupidly narrow 'unblocked windows' of fire, when I'm in manual turret mode (T key) my hits are doing 1 pt of dmg. Which means I have to sustain fire on targets for about 45 secodns before they get destroyed...on the off chance that some one else comes in doing 30 pts per hit just kills it outright.

Is there some problem with turret dmg that each hit does -1?  That makes no sense, I got full upgrades on the turrets, so I have 2 barrels shooting at the target. but stil.. -1 .. -1 ... -1.

wth?

If you are thinking of the waist guns, one aims out over one of the rear horizontal stabilizers, and one can't because he's standing further aft, and is aiming more out over the wing(the former is the left(right when manning them, because you are looking from the opposite direction) and the latter is the right(left when manning))

So no, you DON'T have two, unless you are thinking of the "bathtub" emplacement underneath which DOES have two but apparently rarely fires them both at once for some reason.

Also, the Radio Room's gun apparently has a MASSIVE, UTTERLY MASSIVE blindspot in the tail, where only that one waist gunner can fire. If you get the right angle though, theoretically you should be able to get both on the same target, but it's hard to do since the firing angles of turrets aren't marked out in the gunnery view, and I've never done it myself.

As for the DPS indicator, PRETTY MUCH ALL GAME UI AND HUD UI BUT THE MINIMAP(and even THAT can do some weird crap at times) HAS BEEN BROKEN OR OTHERWISE ACTED UP BEFORE, so it wouldn't surprise me if THIS WERE SIMPLY MORE OF THE SAME. I know, it's annoying and it happens to me also from time to time, and trust me, I don't like it any more than you do.

Yes, but there is one critical difference. Bombers are hands-on, mobility gameplay. Most artillery in WoT are not.

The SPG's "mobility" is its vision, which ranges the entire battlefield.  Success depends on awareness of the battlefield (panning around and watching minimap) and identifying the best or most important opportunities, followed by proper aim and anticipation.  Bombers are even less 'hands on', since a lot of time is spent firstly flying between caps and secondly in the bombsight.

Specialist planes:

SPAD S.510 :: P-40 :: MiG-3 :: A6M1 :: XP-44 :: Fw 190 A-5 :: Me 209 V4 :: Venom :: Caudron C.714 :: Ki-88 :: Wirraway :: Tomahawk IIb :: TsKB I-7 :: Ki-5

True, you don't always have as much situational awareness(in the bomb sight) but you do get indicators(from the rest of the crew, maybe?) pointing out the position of nearby enemy planes and when they get in the danger zone(really close) they get bigger.

The point I was making, though, is that bombers are always on the move. That's one thing that makes them a bit more difficult to catch than SPGs in Tanks. That is why I always chose to play the more mobile French SPGs, so that I could move with very shot more quickly, and if needed I could make a quick escape in the nick of time.

But bombers do require situational awareness. I know I'm ALWAYS scanning the skies around me, even far below me, when in transit, and I only stop doing so for a bombing run, even then switching to the gunner and interrupting my run if I feel like my immediate survival is more important to the team than the immediate capture points I could get from bombing and then just making it outside of the zone before dying.

However, it seems to me like  Bombers in this game more often feel like serving on a warship in WWII would have felt like, that is long periods of boredom and short periods of action and/or terror, rinse, repeat.

The one thing they have in common there is that if something is shooting at you it's too late to escape.

... But if you think ahead, you can defeat your assailant before they defeat you. In SPGs you can derp the enemy, in Bombers, you can either ram, slow down to the point that they accidentally ram you, or spec your bomber with an ultimate turret gunsight so you can open fire on them before they get you in their killzone. That last one has been nerfed, but it still is an option, though not quite as effective as it once was.

Is there a good way to destroy 30 armored ground targets in a single battle?

Edit: Nevermind. I prefer to fly bombers high using bombers that dump a lot of bombs at once, but taking the pe-2 low was able to get the job done.
