I got one last night and had one match. I liked it, sort of oike a Mig 3 with 20mms.

It's a bf109e minus some speed and the hub gun.  So, depends on how you feel about the 109e tech tree plane.

All the Important Thread Links (go here for answers!) Might be outdated!

All-in-one thread with 2.0 related guide links.

The below was said to me (Mercsn), from a concerned player:

Its ok, but the Pilot is what makes it better, but unfortunately the pilot was given with the plane during a past event.

I won it in an event or a giveaway [Edit: I am pretty sure one of the recent giveaways] and it came with a pilot with special skills (see images below).  Overall, it's a pretty good plane, but the tech tree 109E is a bit better once it is all tricked out.

Overall, I like it, but I also like the 109B/E and if I had to cough up real $$ for this plane, I would probably pass for now and use the tech tree planes.

Tech Tree Bf 109E is a sweet ride to begin with.  Good blend of handling and firepower.  It's better than the 109E-3 except in rate of climb where the E-3 has a slight advantage.  Personally, I'd rather keep the extra firepower of the tech tree 109E.  Otherwise the planes fly the same.  Of course as a Premium, you can swap pilots in/out as you deem fit, which you can't really do with a tech tree plane without some consequences.

The E-3 has the yellow patterns that are more inline with early war Luftwaffe schemes than what you could get with tech tree 109E in the paint ship.  Or at least to me, the more "iconic" yellow patterns.

Both the premiums (109 and Spit) which were earned as prizes with special pilot skills restrict use of the skills to those two birds only. While in a different cockpit the pilots lose the special skills

I think only 1/3 skills are plane specific.  The down side is the skill counts as 1 point that you can't retrain out.

Anyone got the bundle? Does it come with the unique pilot? If not...then not worth it.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

l don't see any mention of a unique pilot anywhere in the description.

l was checking it out as a possible trainer but kinda on the fence about it now.

I got the reinforcements bundle.  These are the same 2 planes as in the Dunkirk package, minus the Dunkirk logo on the planes.  They come with the unique paint schemes, but the pilots are just regular pilots.  Both are fun planes, although the lack of the hub cannon makes the E3 worse than it’s tech tree counterpart.  Still fun to fly, and good credit earners to boot.

I have the bundle, the pilots are not unique to their aircraft.

Ah yes you brought up the "special" pilots subject. How many of these exist in game from prior to 2.0?

l saw somewhere that there were 3 women special pilots any others?

Just them and the two Dunkirk pilots that came with the two planes.

That's 5 then.

Remember, remember the 14th of... June, the day of patch 2.05.  Some say it's great end-game content, some say it's horrible, but history will always recall which it actually was.

Spoiler

Yes, 5. They can be retrained to use with any planes...even the Dunkirk pilots (their special skills - nosedive, buff to damage and maneuverability when near dead - work outside of their "mastery" plane, but the mastery itself will not work outside of the specified plane). The whole point for the Dunkirk pilot is for them to man their planes for its maximum performance, so people find no point in retraining them...

If the bundle gives normal pilot...then it's probably better to just skip it and buy gold to get a better deal, say Ar 197 on discount, instead...

agreed. Do they only come with normal pilots?

I really like the plane.  Is it better than the tech tree 109E?  No, it is not.  But it does make better money, so if that's important to you it may be worth it to have that and sell the E.  It's important to know though, that it's not a fully upgraded E-model though.  It's also not as far below the fully upgraded E model as the Spit 1a is below the Spit I

I put my spit 1A pilot in Javelin, the 50% Resilience skill is super useful though;

anyway, you are still wasting 2 skill points of Mastery, it would be much better

if the mastery also works on the current plane you train them to.
